Jaxon walks me back to the house in silence. He seemed to be caught up with his own issues. Or maybe something I had said was bugging him. Either way, he was the one who didn’t want to talk about it and that was fine with me.

“I’ve got to go.” He mutters as soon as we reach the back door. “I will see you later.”

He darts inside before I have a chance to say anything. Acting weirder than usual and leaving me completely confused.

“Blue!” Cece makes me jump as she comes from a side door. But she is beaming at me.

“Hi,” I mutter confused. I didn’t know how to act around her and their father. To be honest, I didn’t really know how to act in front of strangers.

“You know how at breakfast, you were telling me that you don’t like being touched?”

“Yes.” I mutter half wondering where she was going with this conversation. I hadn’t told her why, I just said it makes me feel uncomfortable.

“What if I try something?”
