VEE’S POV

Tardiness was one of my best qualities. I am late to practically everything, my sister would always tease me by saying I would be late even to my own wedding.

I don’t doubt that.

If I came to work on time I would have finished cleaning this room and would not have to endure the dirty, lustful look this old man was giving me.

“I would give you hundred bucks if you give me a blow job, two hundred if you make me cum,” his face crinkled as a grin appeared on his shriveled face. A bout of nausea crawled up my throat as the old man licked his lips, exposing his toothless mouth.

I swallowed and flashed a polite smile. “No thank you,” I replied as I made my way to the bathroom to clean it up as quickly as possible and get out of here. The down side to being a cleaner in a hotel, was that every dick and harry would hit on me and I could not do anything to shut them down. The hotel management would take their customers side, after all the customer is always right.

If I could, I would beat the bastard up with my mop stick. The man was old enough to be my grandfather. I might be broke and underpaid, but I am not that desperate to the extent of sucking on a shriveled dick. My twin sister would roll on her stomach when I tell her about this.

“Come on baby,” his throaty voice came from behind me and I immediately spun around, panic crawling up from the pit of my belly. I made to run out of the bathroom, but his huge frame took up most of the space at the door making it difficult for me to escape him.

I picked up my mop, holding it in a defensive position. “Please sir, stay away from me,” I shrieked as my heartbeat spiked.

“I can give you five hundred bucks,” he said as he pulled his shorts down exposing his shriveled penis hiding between his balls and bush, a very unpleasant sight that was. I looked away immediately.

“You need the money and I need to cum, it is a win win situation for both of us.”

He made to touch me and without thinking I pushed him, causing him to fall on his back. I quickly left the room, leaving the man and my cleaning cart behind.

Only when my racing heart had calmed down did I realize what I had just done. I could get fired if this man reports me to the manager. He was one of the hotel’s highest paying customer, always booking the honeymoon suit for the weekends.

I considered going to report the man instead, maybe if I went first I might be able to save my job. I bit my nails nervously as I paced about the room.

Or I could just go back in and apologize.

Nope. I would never apologize to that psycho.

Instead, I marched down to the janitor’s closet, where I hid until my shift was over. Then, I changed into my clothes and was about sneaking out of the building when my manager’s voice roared from behind me.

“Vee, to my office now!”

Fuck.

I have only been to Tom’s office once, since I started working here six months ago, and that was for my job interview. Yes, there is an actual interview to determine if you are qualified to mop floors and clean bathrooms while taking shit from perverts.

Tom pressed his owl glasses on his nose, while flipping through the paper in his hands.

“Sir I….”

“Don’t bother. You are fired.”

“What?” I squeaked surprised at how quick Tom was to fire me, even without asking what happened.

“You assaulted a customer.”

“That sicko was trying to force me to give him a blow job!” I shrieked in surprise.

“So? You give your boyfriend blowjob all the time don’t you? What is it with women and making a big deal out of nothing?” he put the paper down and looked at me for the first time since I entered his office. “You are lucky he isn’t pressing charges.”

There was no point arguing, I decided. “I hope you burn in hell!” I said and marched out of his office.

***

I got ice-cream and the cheapest bottle of wine on my way home. They were very essential for crying about how much my life sucks. When I got home, my sister was curled up in the couch watching TV.

“Hey babes, what’s up?” she briefly looks at me before returning her attention to the television.

“I got fired.”

“It was a shitty job anyway,” she shrugs. Her eyes falls on the bag in my hand and a smile appears on her face. “I will get glasses,” she said running into the make tiny kitchen of our trailer. I put the bag down on the table and go to change my clothes.

By the time I returned to the parlor, she was already eating the ice-cream. I collapse into the empty space beside Vera and filled up the two glasses with wine.

“What are we going to do now?” I ask, taking a sip of my wine.

“What we always do, survive,” Vera replied, giving my hand a soft squeeze.

I sigh. Joblessness was a luxury I could not afford. Other children get trusts, inherit money and estate from their fathers, I inherited my father’s debts.

Our mother had been so sick, my father had to mortgage the house in other to pay her hospital bills. She died a few days after our eighteenth birthday. Our father had been so heartbroken he took up gambling and drinking as a fun therapy, two years after our mother passed, he overdosed and died with a bottle of vodka by his side.

The bank took our house, and we moved into our late aunt’s trailer. I have been doing a lot of jobs ever since just to be able to pay our bills. Vera could barely hold a job down, she wasn’t much of a hard worker, nope, she was too pretty for that.

Even though I and Vera were identical twins, she was the pretty one, with her long, wavy chestnut hair and sparkly blue eyes and a smile that could light up the whole world.

She still nurses dreams of going to Hollywood and becoming a movie star. And she would fit right in amongst snobby actresses.

I, on the other hand, had zero fashion sense, my chestnut hair was always packed in a messy bun and the only thing sparkly about my blue eyes was the occasional tears whenever I felt overwhelmed.

Despite the differences between us, Vera was the best sister I could have ever wished for.

I placed my empty glass on the table and rested my head on Vera’s thigh and she began stroking my hair just like our mother used to.

I had almost dozed off when the banging on the door startled me awake. I and Vera exchanged surprised glances. When the banging started up again, Vera picked up a bat and before I could decide whether or not to open the door, the door was kicked in.

Three large men stepped in, followed by an average man wearing one too many gold chains and frizzled blonde hair. The four men were heavily tattooed, one of them even had ink on his face.

“Hello beautiful ladies,” the frizzled blond said, smiling widely and exposing his gold teeth. “You were quite difficult to find,” he added.

“We already called the police and they would soon be on their way here,” Vera bluffed.

“The more the merrier, right boys?” he grinned. I figured the blonde one was the boss and the huge men behind him, were his security or something.

“What do you want?” I managed to ask.

“What belongs to me,” he replied.

I and Vera exchanged confused looks. “We don’t have anything that belongs to you,” I say.

“Oh but you do. My name is Valkor and your father owes me a lot of money. So unless you have fifty grand lying around to pay me, you and your sister belong to me.”

What the….

  • The Lycan King's Game    40 – The Handsome Stranger

Vee’s POVI munched on my toast quietly, looking out the window at intervals for any sign of Nena. She had been gone since noon, yesterday. I was getting worried. It reminds me of nights when Vera would disappear without a word, and I would be up all night worrying my ass off where she could possibly be.Vera. I hope she’s okay. I lost my phone so I had no means of contacting her. Maybe when Nena returns I could borrow her phone and call Vera.I glanced out the window and there she was, Nena, mumbling to herself. She looked upset, and she looked hilarious in those clothes. What happened to the clothes she had on yesterday?“Should you be out of bed?” was the first thing Nena said to me as soon as she entered the house.“I was hungry. Had to make breakfast.”She gave me an apologetic look. “Sorry I wasn’t here to make you breakfast. I got caught up yesterday.”“I can take care of myself,” I smiled, but I had to admit it felt nice to be taken care of for a change. “Yours is in t

  • The Lycan King's Game    39 – Pancakes, Bacon and eggs

Fang’s POVI watched as her chest rose and fell in deep slumber. Nena looked completely drained, with her skin paler than anything I have ever seen. First time transformation was draining and the most painful thing that anyone could ever feel, with all the bones in your body breaking, expanding and rearranging itself. It felt like been torn open from the inside out. I had not just experienced it, I have seen hundreds of young soldiers transform for the first time and I have also assisted Kene in training them and helping them control their beast. So I can say with certainty that this was her first transformation. The question is, why now?I adjusted uncomfortable in the couch. After the kind of day I had, I deserved to be in my bed right now. But instead, I have to sit in the couch and watch over Nena as she slept in my bed. There was a chance her wolf might manifest again, especially since Nena does not know how to control it yet.I sighed as I pushed myself to my feet and sa

  • The Lycan King's Game    38 – Blood thirst

Nena’s POVMy wolf was calling for blood. Fang’s blood. She wanted revenge for how he had hurt us. She had felt our pain all those years ago, she had felt the wolf bond been forcefully ripped apart by the one man that was supposed to protect us and preserve our sacred bond. As much as Fang had left me broken and alone, I did not want to fight him, I most certainly did not want to spill his blood. But my wolf was in control. She was too strong. I couldn’t stop her or morph back into my human form. Maybe if Fang remained inside his house, he just might be safe….He stepped out. With alert eyes darting around, Fang, stood in the doorway of his house. His eyes found me almost immediately—wide, startled—but it only lasted a second. Then my wolf lunged.A roar ripped from my chest as we charged, the earth shaking beneath each thunderous paw. I could see his lips move, maybe a curse, maybe my name, but I didn’t care. Not me.Her.My wolf. She struck where his heart should have

  • The Lycan King's Game    37 – Awakening

Nena’s POVThe cave was cold, despite the flames that danced in the iron bowls lining the walls. The firelight flickered across the Helga’s face—her eyes were closed, her lips murmuring a chant older than memory, the kind that made the air feel too heavy to breathe.I knelt before her, naked, bare feet pressed against the rough stone, knees bruised from the hard ground. My fingers trembled in my lap, though I tried to still them. The copper tang of dried blood lingered in my mouth from the offering. My offering. This was a choice I made, then why was I feeling so scared.Tonight, I would either become who I was meant to be or die trying. Whichever way it pans out, I will accept it as the will of the goddess. The chant stop. I glanced up to find Helga staring down at me, worried lines framing her face. “It’s not to late to change your mind yet, Nena.”As tempting as that sounded, I had to do this. It was the only way I would be strong enough to defeat my enemies. “I want this.”

  • The Lycan King's Game    36 - No limp

Adonis’s POV “Your leaving?” “I am.” “I thought you would want to watch till the end,” he said, a hint of disappointment in his tone. “I have something important to deal with,” I said and began walking away. Kene followed behind me. “Your highness, I want to be part of the team going south to investigate the wolf pack." I paused, eyeing him from the corner of my eyes. I haven’t ev

  • The Lycan King's Game    35 - The garden

Nena’s POV The strange woman still hadn’t woken up. After I brought her home yesterday, I tried to reach Helga. I had even gone by her place, but it had been locked. I guess it had something to do with the unbound incident. I had to invite Lydia, a nurse and a former close friend of Ezra, to take a look. Lydia had tended to the woman’s wounds and injected her with some antibiotics and painkillers since her wounds weren’t healing on its own. It wasn’t unusual for Lycan’s to be unable to heal themselves. Only manifested Lycan’s could heal on their own, Lycan’s who could transform. The binding spell on me, meant that I could never manifest, hence I could not heal on my own. I had hoped that the woman would wake up before the end of the day, to at least tell me who she was and how to reach out to her family. Besides, I don’t exactly know how to take care of people. Heck, I have never had to take care of anyone or anything in my life, just my garden. She would be in better

  • The Lycan King's Game    34 – The girl in the woods

Nena’s POV It didn’t matter how many deep breathes I took, I still felt really nervous. I knocked back the last of the concoction Helga had given me, the black liquid burned my throat on its way down, leaving a tingling feeling in my belly. By tomorrow, Helga would undo the binding spell and I can finally be free. I have trained every day in preparation for the selection event. I had also gone by the king’s training ground to watch the men train and I could tell that physically I wasn’t exactly a match, but with my powers I would more that stand a chance. I would win. I have to win. Instinctively, I reached for the photo on the night stand. Ezra had his signature wide, boyish smile on his face, with his eyes fixed on me. We had taken the photo on the day of our engagement. I wasn’t smiling in the picture, but the sunshine of his smile more than made up for my lack of smile. I had still been heartbroken over Fang. He had left me devastated, with no will to leave and without a

  • The Lycan King's Game    33 - How do you fight the dead?

Adonis’s POV Nate thundered through the forest at full speed, crunching dried leaves and stomping raised roots and fallen twigs in his path. The scents of the unbounds were still fresh, making it easier to track and Nate was still riled up from the attack, he hoped there would be more unbounds at the end of the trail for him to kill to his satisfaction. The three trackers, Neden, Zeke and Gozie, were still far behind. Even at full speed, they would not be able to catch up with Nate. Fang stayed back to take care of the feral Lycans and make sure that no unbounds were lurking around. Vee’s safety was priority now. Those unbounds were there for her and I have a feeling they will keep trying to take her. I need to know who wants her and why they want her. If this trail could lead me to whoever was involved in this, then I just might get my answers. Up ahead, I could hear a flowing river and the scent got stronger. Nate ran even faster, he may not be a big fan of water but to get

  • The Lycan King's Game    32 – Unbounds

Adonis’s POV When Helga stated that she sensed blood magic, I had a feeling that things were about to get messy. What I didn’t expect was it would get this messy. As soon as I had stepped out of the palace, I noticed Fang taking his taking his clothes off and growling at the distance. I couldn’t see what he was growling at but I sure as hell could feel them coming at us in full speed. The smell felt like acid burning through my nostrils all the way to my throat. It certainly was blood magic. But how? The circle had banned the use of blood magic by witches and sorcerers. So why then can I sense black magic and most importantly, how where they able to breach my territory. Nate growled in my head, in excitement as I took my clothes off. It has been five years since he got any real action. “Be careful,” Helga murmured, staring into the distance, with worry lines creasing her forehead and the corner of her eyes. There is only one witch I know uses blood magic, which was why the c
