POV Alejandro King

As I watched Katarina sleep I was struck with worry. What was going on with her? She tried to be so strong and fight whatever was happening but her body was weak. I got called away to a meeting today and as I listened to the other families discuss the newest on the weapons front my thoughts were back home with Katarina. I didn’t want to be distracted but I couldn’t hide my worry and my father and Pedro noticed.

“ Amico, is everything OK? You seem…out of it today.” He said as he handed me a cigarette. I was trying to cut back, especially since the numerous times Katarina was around me smoking she got sick. I lit it up, worried as I took a drag.” Katarina’s not feeling very well.” I replied back and then felt my father’s reassuring hand on my shoulder. “ I’m sure it’ll be fine, son.” He patted my back then walked over to pour a drink behind the bar. Pedro looked at me genuinely concerned, “ What seems to be the problem with her?” He asked, taking a sip of his brandy.
