FAZER LOGINHer fiancé cheated on her with her own mother. She lost her baby. And when he was murdered, Rebecca became the prime suspect. With her life collapsing and the law closing in, Rebecca accepts a deal she never thought she’d survive. Stefanno Davidson—a feared Mafia lord—doesn’t need a lover or a permanent wife. He needs a replacement. His children’s mother is alive… but absent. And Rebecca looks exactly like her. Until Stefanno clears Rebecca’s name, she must live under another woman’s identity. Become the mother his children already recognize, the wife the Mafia world believes never left, and the reason his sick daughter finally starts to heal. Once his daughter recovers, Rebecca is promised her freedom. She can return to her world, her name restored. But the longer she stays, the more dangerous the lie becomes. Because pretending to be someone else is easy, pretending not to feel anything for the man who owns your secret is not. And in the Mafia world, temporary wives rarely leave untouched.

"YOU betrayed me! Of all people, why her? Why my mother? You’re disgusting!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, throwing everything I could get my hands on.
"Hon—"
"Stop calling me honey, you filthy bastard!"
I stormed toward the drawer, yanked it open, and grabbed a pair of scissors. His eyes filled with fear as he slowly backed away from me.
"Rebecca, what are you planning to do?"
"What do you think?"
He swallowed hard. "Are you planning to kill me?"
I let out a bitter laugh. "Do you really think you're worth staining my hands with blood over?"
"Rebecca!" he shouted, his eyes turning red. He sat on the bed and let out a frustrated scream.
"It was a mistake! I was fucking drunk!"
Ignoring him, I walked to the walk-in closet and harshly grabbed the wedding gown I had been excited to wear tomorrow morning.
"R-Rebecca, w-what are you doing?"
Right in front of Tim, I shredded the wedding gown—the same dress worth hundred thousand dollars. We had argued about it before because I was fine with a cheaper one, but he insisted. He said it was because he loved me that much.
Bullshit. This is the kind of love he has for me?
His love was painful.
"We’re done, Tim! Go and be with my mother! Marry her instead!" I screamed, sobbing as I hurled the scissors onto the floor.
"Rebecca, no. Please, no, hon! Give me a chance. We've been together for nine years. Are you really going to throw all of that away?"
I stopped in my tracks and looked at his tear-streaked face. "Weren’t you the one who threw us away first? After you slept with my mother, do you really think I can still give you a chance and marry you? There’s no way I can do that, Tim. No fucking way!"
"Rebecca, I'll kill myself if you leave me!" He clung to my wrist, kneeling in front of me.
"Do it, Tim, I don’t care. Just don’t expect me to show up at your funeral."
I shoved him away and, with trembling legs, walked out of the apartment we once shared. My phone kept vibrating in my pocket, but I ignored it—until I saw the name of the person I despised the most.
"Are you happy now? You ruined my life!"
"Rebecca, let’s talk. I—"
"I hope you rot in hell! You and Tim deserve each other!"
I threw my phone onto the ground and stomped on it. As I headed toward our car, I remembered it belonged to Tim. Enraged, I hurled the keys at the window and kicked the side mirror for good measure.
A sharp pain shot through my stomach, but I ignored it as I made my way to the gate. It was almost midnight, and there were no cabs in sight.
I had no way to book a ride either—I'd just destroyed my phone. Afraid Tim might follow me, I broke into a run, desperate to get away from him.
How could they do this to me?
Tim and I had been together for almost ten years. He said I changed him—from a reckless troublemaker to a respected engineer leading his father's engineering firm. I dedicated my life to him. My world revolved around serving him. Even when my father disapproved of us living together because we weren’t married, I defied him. I never wanted to hold that against Tim because I did it out of love. But now, I couldn't stomach his betrayal.
And my mother—the one I defended against my father and our family despite her shortcomings. Despite all her sins, I accepted her, believing she had changed. But she hadn’t.
Before, all she wanted from us was money. Now, she took my fiancé.
With nowhere else to go, I found myself at the cemetery, standing before my grandmother’s grave—the woman who raised and loved me since I was a child. I let out all my pain and rage there, mourning not only my relationship with Tim but also the pieces of myself I had lost.
When I calmed down, I decided to go back and confront both Tim and my mother. My heart was filled with fury and bitterness. I was disgusted by what they had done. And yet, deep down, there was still a part of me that couldn't fully let him go.
Lost in my thoughts, I didn’t notice the speeding car until it was too late.
The loud honk jolted me, but my body refused to move. I stood frozen, waiting for the impact. I had no strength left to fight. I was exhausted.
I braced myself for the collision, but before it happened, a searing pain shot through my abdomen. Everything went black.
*
When I woke up, a blinding light greeted me. I winced, shutting my eyes as a sharp pain spread through my stomach.
"Boss, she's bleeding."
"Pull over and let me drive, Sigmund."
"Yes, boss!"
"Are you sure we didn't hit her?!"
"No, boss, we were quite far from her."
The pain was unbearable.
"Ahhhhhh!" I screamed, gripping whatever I could.
I felt like something was being ripped from my body.
No… It can’t be!
"Boss, she's losing consciousness again!"
"Don’t let her sleep, Elias—"
My vision blurred, and the voices around me faded. Darkness swallowed me once more.
*
When I regained consciousness, I blinked in confusion at my unfamiliar surroundings.
But as I noticed the IV attached to my hand and the sterile white walls, I realized—I was in a hospital.
What happened?
I touched my stomach, which still ached terribly, as did the lower part of my body.
A terrible sense of foreboding gripped my chest.
The door opened, and a woman in a doctor’s gown walked in.
"Oh, you're awake. How are you feeling? I'm Doctor Sanchez, by the way."
She gave me a sad smile and placed her hand over mine.
"I'm sorry, but you lost your baby. We couldn't save her."
"B-baby?" My voice trembled.
She hesitated. "You didn’t know?"
I shook my head as tears welled in my eyes.
I was pregnant?
How did I not know?
"I'm truly sorry. I’ll give you some time alone. I’ll explain the procedure to you later."
I was betrayed by my fiancé. He cheated on me with my mother. And now… I lost my baby?
A sob tore from my throat as I wished for all of this to be a nightmare.
Just a week ago, I was excited about my upcoming wedding. I was busy preparing for it.
Please, God, take me back to that day.
"Here…"
My crying stopped when I saw a handkerchief in front of me.
Slowly, I looked up at the person offering it.
A familiar face greeted me.
I blinked, trying to clear my vision. His brown eyes looked dangerous.
He was the man I met two weeks ago—the one who gave me a crazy offer that I had immediately refused.
"Name your price. Act with me. Play the role of a loving mother to my children."
"Y-you?"
"Yes, it's me again, Rebecca…"
“What the hell did you do to my wife?!” Steffano shouted the moment his eyes dropped to my blouse.A few of the buttons had come undone when Gary grabbed me earlier, exposing part of my bra.The look in Steffano’s eyes made it obvious he was seconds away from attacking the doctor if I hadn’t immediately grabbed his arm.“Don’t, Steffano. I’m okay,” I said quickly, shaking my head at him because I knew things would only get worse if he hurt Gary.He shut his eyes tightly and took a deep breath before removing his suit jacket, draping it over my shoulders.“Your wife?” Gary asked slowly. “May I ask what your wife’s name is, sir?”“What business is that of yours?” Steffano shot back coldly.Steffano wrapped an arm around me and faced Gary fully. “Who exactly are you to question my wife’s identity?”“I-I’m Olivia’s friend. Gary. I was one of the medical aides who took care of her in Maryland while I worked there. I wouldn’t be acting like this if your wife had simply told me she wasn’t my
“Are you okay, sweetheart?” I asked Stephie the moment she was transferred from the ICU to a VIP room."I'm feeling b-better now, Mommy."I let out a relieved breath at Stephie’s answer and gently brushed my fingers through her hair. After thanking the nurses and doctors who had transferred her to the VIP room from the ICU and checked on her condition, they finally left the room.“What about you, Mommy? Are you okay?”I smiled and sat beside her bed. “Of course I am. You’re recovering so well.”“But you keep yawning,” she pointed out softly. “Are you sleepy?”“A little,” I admitted with a laugh. “I got excited when they told me you were finally being moved out of the ICU. That means you’re getting stronger.”“Where’s Dad and Savvy?”“Oh, Savvy was still asleep when I left this morning. Your daddy said he’ll bring him here around lunchtime. Are you excited to see him?”I hadn’t woken Savvy up earlier and had left him with one of the house staff instead, reminding them to call me immedi
GERALDINEWhy did they look so alike?Who was that woman? And if she wasn’t Rebecca… then was it possible she was—I jumped when my phone suddenly rang.I cursed under my breath the moment I saw the caller ID. I’d been ignoring his calls for weeks, but this time, I answered.“Baby, come on, why haven’t you been answering me?”“Don’t ‘baby’ me,” I snapped. “I know exactly why you’re calling, Dino. You need money again.”“Oh, wow. Your life gets better and suddenly your attitude changes too.”I pulled a cigarette from my pack and placed it between my lips, only to stop when I realized I was still inside the hospital restroom.Annoyed, I threw it into the sink and dragged a hand through my hair.“You’ve already gotten enough from me,” I continued bitterly. “How many times have I given you money? And you never pay me back.”“It’s just ten grand, Gie. Come on. I got stuck here in Chicago. I can’t get back and I’ve got gigs lined up.”I clenched my jaw.The man had done nothing for years ex
“Are you sure you don’t want to sleep with us tonight?” I asked, gently brushing my fingers through Savvy’s hair while he got ready for bed.“I’ll pass tonight,” he replied, making me laugh softly. “Stephie will get mad if she finds out I had you and Dad all to myself.”I leaned down and kissed his forehead. “If you need Mommy for anything, just come to our room, okay?”“Yes, I will.”“Goodnight, Savvy.”“Goodnight, Mommy,” he murmured, already closing his eyes.I left the bedside lamp on before quietly stepping out of his room.I nearly jumped in surprise when I turned around and saw Steffano leaning against the doorway, watching Savvy and me. Judging by the look on his face, he’d probably been standing there for a while.“Why are you trying to scare me?”He smirked. “Why are you so easy to scare?”I rolled my eyes and nudged him out of Savvy’s room. He immediately caught my hand and lifted it to his lips.“Thank you.”I sighed. “What are you thanking me for this time, Steffano?”“Fo
“Mommy! Don’t go!”I cried out as I watched my mom dragging her suitcase toward the door.I struggled against Grandma’s grip and ran after her, throwing my arms around her waist.“Please don’t go, Mommy! I—I promise I’ll be good!”She gently pried my arms away and knelt in front of me.“I’m sorry,
“Dad, put an apron on Mom. She forgot to wear one,” Savvy instructed. He conveniently ignored the fact that he wasn’t wearing one either—his shirt already dusted with flour.“And why did you remind me about your mom but not me?” Steffano asked.
“W-what are those?” I asked, my voice trembling as I stared at the wall.Even though it felt like knives were stabbing into my chest, I couldn’t look away—especially from the photos of Tim.“That’s the crime scene,” Steffano said evenly. &ld
“Luckily, it’s just a strain. No broken bones,” Alexa said. “But make sure you let your arm rest and avoid moving it too much. Are you sure you don’t want a sling?”I shook my head, glancing at the elastic bandage wrapped around my wrist and up my arm. A
