CHAPTER 8
ONE DAY BEFORE
Sofia stormed out of Master Carlos’s room upset that she got dragged into all of this drama. Bianca looked shaken for an assassin and Alexia for the first time actually felt guilty after hearing what the punishment is. She jogged after Sofia to offer an apology she swore would not come from her mouth, but she was afraid that if she did not do so her position on the team would be compromised.
“Captain…” Alexia said as her hand touched Sofia’s shoulder to stop her from walking.
“Get your hands off me Alexia.” Sofia said as she turned to look at Alexia. Bianca rolled her eyes at them and continued down the hallway without throwing a comment for the first time.

The following day Alice was couped up under her duvet because she refused to leave her bed unless absolutely necessary. She had bathed of course and had her meals on time, but she refused to see anyone otherwise. Alice was beginning to regret ever asking to join into her brother’s Mafia once upon a time. Sofia was still frowning when Master Carlos and Madam Lee walked into the training discussing amongst themselves. She was chewing at the right corner of her bottom lip because her mind was far away. Unfortunately, she was not the only one who seemed distracted, Alexia seemed to be lost in her own thoughts as well. “The atmosphere right now could make anyone cry.” Mica said after a long time of remaining quiet. “Why do you say that?” Ronda asked as she looked at him with her brow raised. “Everyone seems to be in their own zone. It never used to be this way.” Mica said and frowned. “Blame that on Alexia and wanting to prove a point.” Becca said bitterly. Alexia snapped out of her thoughts and angrily looked at Becca, “I thought I told you to not involve me in your bullshit.” “It is the truth though, everyone and everything seems cold after the stunt you pulled that so happened to drag captain into it as well.” Ronda added truthfully.

Giovanni sat in his office already regretting his decision to let Alice train in combat with Luca. His mind was occupied with many things before the incident, and he never thought that it would cloud his mind even further. Giovanni sat wondering who the woman that saved his sister could have been. All the thinking was hurting his head, but he couldn’t help but think.He was so deep in thought that he didn’t notice Antonio walk into his office.“What’s up bro?” Antonio asked as he continued to munch on barbeque flavoured chips. Giovanni raised his head as he heard his brother and looked extremely annoyed at him.“Why are you eating those in here? You do know I hate that smell.” Giovanni said.“That’s the more reason to eat this.” Antonio said and munched on another chip which he chewed loudly.“If only you were not my brother.” Giovanni said and simply smiled at his brother.

Alex was now facing Sofia confused by her words earlier on. She hadn’t said anything since they came inside, and he was unsure whether to speak first or wait for her to collect herself.“Why do you look so uncomfortable?” Sofia asked.“Did you forget how you spoke to me outside?” Alex said with accusation in his tone.“I am your captain, so I need to behave a certain way in front of others. Plus, you were being disrespectful by calling me by my name.” Sofia said reasonably.“Okay, I will reframe from that in the future.” Alex added coolly.“Good.” Sofia said and took a deep breath.“So, why did you drag me here and why did you say you find this mission dodgy?” Alex asked, jumping straight into the matter.“Madam Lee was too excited for this. It has been a week ever since Alexia learned that Sofia was her sister, since then she has been dealing with so many mixed feelings. Sometimes she wants to embrace the idea of having a sister, but her mind keeps telling her otherwise. Alexia admitted to herself that killing Sofia was the only way she could live in peace and come out from the shadows.Even now she stared intensely at Sofia as she was leading the meeting on their Mafia assignment. Sofia asked for permission to leave the academy and it was granted. She was now on her way out of the academy and made sure to look over her shoulder during every step. Sofia did not like to drive when she was alone so she would always walk, take a cab, or take the train. She was moving fast through the streets with her hoodie over her head. She could feel Alex trailing behind her and as much as it annoyed her, she actually felt good that he was following her.She ducked into an alley and stood there waiting for Alex to appear so she could confront him. Alex entered the same alley carelessly and he stopped in his tracks as he saw Sofia leaning on the wall, staring at him.“Am I caught?” Alex asked as he raised his hand to scratch behind his neck.“Is it not obvious?” Sofia answered with her eyebrow raised.“Did you know I was following you? I have never been caught in the spy act before.” Alex said proudly.

Luca had manged to sort everything out after the two suspicion looking people escaped. Lorenzo could now move his body, but his limbs still felt heavy from whatever it was that was injected into his body. Luca and Lorenzo were inside Don Russo’s study as the waited for him to come. “I still don’t understand why you didn’t go after them.” Lorenzo said as he laid on the couch. “It would have been pointless to do so.” Luca answered with his mind pretty far away. “How do you know it would have pointless unless you actually tried?” Lorenzo pressed on with the matter and Luca sighed as he was now becoming annoyed with him.
