Chapter 9

In a flash, she found herself in the inhospitable region of the Scottish Highlands. And she could see Loch Rannoch. It was snowing softly. She felt the icy cold blow across the plain. There was no sign of Raven to be seen or felt, yet he must be near. Wolf had not sent her that way for nothing.

Maddie lit a campfire. She shivered despite wearing a long wool coat, which was very protective. She feared that Raven's love for her had died down. It chilled her, thinking about it.

She reached out to the fire and waited.

Almost an hour passed. She still hadn't seen him, she didn't feel him either. Still, he had to be around, because the spell had brought her there. She stared at Loch Rannoch, the water rippling with the cold wind.

Suddenly warm energy appeared behind her.

‘Raven?’ she spun around.

Then he appeared.

She saw his familiar face. He looked concerned, shoulders slightly stooped with grief. As different, as she remember
