LOGINSelena’s heart was pounding in her chest, and it felt like she was being chased by a wild animal. If anything, she would have preferred that over seeing her sister like this.
This was beyond terrifying because she knew she could lose Lily in a second if she didn’t do everything right. “Lily!?” She called her sister’s name over and over as she quickly turned off the stove before heading out of the house with her in her arms. Lily was unconscious, barely breathing. And with each passing minute, it seemed to get worse. Her body was limp and growing colder. “F*ck,” Selena cursed under her breath as she stood on the sidewalk, trying her best to pull out her phone. Once it was out, she tried to dial 9-1-1, but the device slipped from her hand, hitting the pavement and breaking. She knew she was losing precious time, and Lily needed every second, so she started shouting for help. “Help!! Somebody help me!!” she cried. “Please!!!” Tears streamed down her face. Her neighbors soon rushed out of their house and ran toward her. “Oh, sh*t,” the man said, and without needing to be told, he dashed back into his yard toward his car. His wife hurried over to help Selena with Lily. Selena grabbed the phone from the ground and followed them, trying to make it work. It finally powered on once they were inside the car. She called her mom. “It’s Lily,” she said first, her voice shaking. “We’re on our way to the hospital.” “I’ll be on my way,” her mother replied in a worried tone before hanging up. Selena lowered the phone and turned back to her sister. Lily was still unconscious, her breathing shallow and fading. Her skin was even starting to turn blue. “Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t,” Selena muttered as panic took over. Everything she knew to do suddenly vanished from her mind. Her thoughts were blank, her chest tight. “Drive faster!” she shouted at the man behind the wheel. And he did. When they arrived at the hospital, they rushed straight to the emergency wing. Nurses immediately took Lily from Selena’s arms and placed her on a stretcher. Selena followed, but before long, someone stopped her and told her she couldn’t go any further. She stood frozen, watching as they disappeared into a room. She didn’t know what to do, so she just stood there, lost. Then, a gentle hand touched her shoulder. She turned to see her mother. “She’s going to be fine. This happens every week. She’s going to be fine,” her mother said, almost like she was trying to convince herself. Tears streamed freely down Selena’s face. She hadn’t even realized she was crying until her mother wiped them away. “Yeah, she’s going to be fine,” Selena whispered back. Half an hour later, they were in the waiting area with a few others, including their neighbors. It was a very expensive hospital, the same one where Elijah worked. Selena hoped she’d see him, and with that thought, she kept trying to call him. Her phone screen was cracked, but it still worked. She suspected she had been blocked because her calls never went through, but that didn’t stop her from trying. “Selena? Can I talk to you in private for a minute?” her mother asked softly. Selena nodded, swallowing hard as she put her phone in her pocket and stood. “Sure.” She followed her mother down the hall until they were alone. “Have you talked to him? Elijah,” her mother asked. “Have you fixed things with him yet? You know I can’t afford anything here. Your sister’s treatment is very expensive.” Selena forced a small smile. “I have, and he said he would handle it. Don’t worry,” she lied. Her mother was already worried about Lily, she didn’t need to worry about money too. Her mother’s face softened in relief. “Are you sure?” she asked, hope filling her eyes. “Yes, Mom. He’s going to take care of it all as usual.” Selena forced a chuckle. “Thank the Moon goddess,” her mother said, pulling her into a hug. Selena hugged her back, tears spilling again. After a few seconds, her mother pulled away. “I’ll be right back, I just need to use the bathroom.” Selena smiled weakly and nodded before she walked away. Did she go to the bathroom? No. Did she want to? Yes, but not to use it, only to cry her heart out. She knew this hospital well, so finding Elijah’s office wasn’t difficult. He was one of the top doctors here. Normally, no one was allowed on that floor without authorization, but everyone knew she was his mate, so no one stopped her. And the fact that no one did meant Elijah hadn’t yet announced that he planned to reject their bond. Not yet. That small thought gave her a flicker of hope. When she reached his office, she saw him through the glass wall, focused on his computer. Still, this was too important to wait. She knocked on the glass, and when he looked up, his eyes lit up for just a moment before dimming with sadness. She opened the door and stepped inside. “Elijah…” “No, you need to leave,” he said as he rose to his feet. “I’m not doing this with you. I’ve already contacted my lawyers. Things will be finalized soon.” “I’m sorry,” Selena’s voice cracked. “I’m so sorry.” Tears filled her eyes. “I messed up, and I don’t…I don’t know what I’ll do if you leave me.” “Selena, we’re done. It’s final. There’s no changing my mind.” She sighed, wiping her tears even though they kept falling. She was about to say something, but a beeping sound suddenly broke the silence. Elijah pulled something from his pocket and glanced at it. It was his pager. His eyes widened instantly. “Sh*t, it’s Lily!” he shouted, rushing past her and out of the room.A chill ran down Harry’s spine as he mentally chewed on the information of who was standing right in front of him…the very same man who was probably the one who had murdered his father and killed his dog.“Come on, man. Say something. You’re in the presence of a celebrity!” Malek said, chuckling freely. “I know your dad is dead and all, but come on…” He wiggled his brows, a crazy look in his eyes. “You’re sick!” Harry spat at him, the reminder that his father, who was the only family he had left, had just been murdered by this psychopath. “What the f*ck is wrong with you?!” Tears burned his eyes and threatened to fall. “Harry, Harry, Harry,” The guy replied calmly while taking a few steps closer to him. “Do you have any idea the things your father has done? Did you actually think that he was innocent? He deserved what he got, and everyone else who deserves death will get it before I take over this miserable pack. I will cleanse this town and will make it better.” He smiled widely, h
Harry’s POVHarry had made his way back home. It had been years since he had been taking his anxiety medication. Not because he was just dependent, but because he needed it. He was someone who had struggled with extreme anxiety since he was about nine years old. With his mother nowhere to be found since the woman had left him and his dad for a human years ago, that also did not do anything for his condition. People would always tell him that it was all in his head, that he didn't have to be dependent on his meds, but they did not get it. They did not understand. They were not the ones living through the hell that he would live in every time he went just a few hours without taking what he needed to take. That medication was his saving grace. It was the only thing that brought him peace. He had tried therapy, but it had not worked. He had tried working out or exercising, but those did not help either. He tried religion, but unfortunately, that did not work as well. Maybe the Moon god
Selena touched the little girl’s forehead and closed her eyes, ignoring what her mother was saying; she needed to focus. She did not have all the time in the world. She put aside her pain and her anger, only focusing on what she was doing at the moment. She needed to do that, considering that this could literally cause her so much, if not cause her to even lose her life. But she was ready to take that chance. For her little sister, she was ready to do that. Heart pounding in her chest, she waited. She waited for something to happen. And nothing did. She knew what the goddess had told her to do, and this was it. So why was nothing happening? Why did she feel like she was crazy as everyone stared at her, even though she could not see them because her eyes were closed? She could feel their eyes on her. And her mother was still speaking, saying something that Selena had already zoned out, so she could not hear. “Come on, work…” She said to herself as she sat there, silently praying f
As soon as Selena blinked, she was awake. It took a few seconds for her vision to clear up, but it did. And when it did, the first person that she saw was Axiel. He had a worried look on his face, but his eyes held relief. “F*ck, I thought…I thought…” He stood up and ran his hand through his hair, almost as if he was trying to process what had just happened. Then he looked back at her, and they locked eyes. “What happened? One minute, we were training like we always do, and the next, you just…you blacked out.” “How long was I out for?” She asked as she proceeded to get off the ground after peeling her eyes away from his. He reached out and helped her. Her head was aching, and she felt a little lightheaded as well, but other than that, she was fine. “Not long,” He said, sniffling dryly as he continued to stare at her. “What happened, Selena?” She stood there and could remember it all vividly. “I met the Moon goddess,” She began, a small, sad smile forming on her lips. Then she turn
All her emotions, all that anger and pain. It was all gone, and they were just standing there. This time, there was no field or any street. They were just standing in a void. There was nothing. Absolutely nothing. This was the best she had felt in her entire life. Was she…was she dead? But again, how could she? Why would she be? Axiel would never push her to the point of hurting her; she knew that very well. So where…what was this place? She kind of knew it was the Spirit World, but at the same time, it felt different. “You have so much pain in you, Selena. So much pain,” The goddess said to her as the entity walked closer to her. “I have tried to help you to use it to grow and become better, but I fear that it might devour you. I fear it might destroy you, leaving the pack vulnerable.” Selena scoffed, shaking her head. “I told you, right?” She chuckled without humor. “I told you that I was not the one.” She swallowed hard. “You made a mistake. You’re literally the Moon goddess, a
The engine of the car was on, but they were moving. Selena could feel the gaze of Axiel on her as she stared at her hands on her lap.She knew that if she wanted him to trust her and for him to help her, she would need to tell him the truth. She looked up at him, and they locked eyes. From the way he looked at her, she could tell that he really did care for her.“So um…” She hooked some of her hair behind her ears and cleared her throat softly. “My sister is brain dead right now, and Elijah is dead. I think I can do something about it, though. I’m the white-haired Luna, I should be able to do something, right?”“Selena…” he looked at her with pity.“Look, I don’t need your pity. I just…I just need you to help me find out how to help them.”“I’m sorry to say, but I don’t think you can. We trained for days, and the only ability we discovered was you being able to heal…not bring people back from the dead.”Selena sniffled, feeling tears burn her eyes. But no, she was not going to give up
Maddox still wanted to be pissed; he needed a place for those emotions to go. But truthfully, after hearing what his mom had explained, he sort understood why the woman never came back to the pack. “You could have at least had someone bring me to you.” His voice was soft and filled with sadness. H
Selena walked into the room, holding her breath. She did allow her mom to be the first to walk in, though. Her eyes soon fell on her sister, and her heart immediately sank. The girl looked so…so sick. She had lost so much weight, and her skin was pale as if she was a ghost. That was not how she h
Cassie stared at the guy, trying to wrap her head around what she had just heard him explain. “How is that even possible?”“I don’t f*cking know!” He snapped. “I don’t!” He let out a shaky breath before cursing under his breath. Then he started pacing the room as if he was losing his mind, and mayb
Selena was on her feet in no time, fear dancing in her heart. “Is it Lily?” She asked. Why wouldn’t she? It was the first thing that struck her mind. The very thought of something happening to her little sister had a chill running down her spine. She could not even bear to think about it. So she w
