LOGINSelena’s heart was pounding in her chest, and it felt like she was being chased by a wild animal. If anything, she would have preferred that over seeing her sister like this.
This was beyond terrifying because she knew she could lose Lily in a second if she didn’t do everything right. “Lily!?” She called her sister’s name over and over as she quickly turned off the stove before heading out of the house with her in her arms. Lily was unconscious, barely breathing. And with each passing minute, it seemed to get worse. Her body was limp and growing colder. “F*ck,” Selena cursed under her breath as she stood on the sidewalk, trying her best to pull out her phone. Once it was out, she tried to dial 9-1-1, but the device slipped from her hand, hitting the pavement and breaking. She knew she was losing precious time, and Lily needed every second, so she started shouting for help. “Help!! Somebody help me!!” she cried. “Please!!!” Tears streamed down her face. Her neighbors soon rushed out of their house and ran toward her. “Oh, sh*t,” the man said, and without needing to be told, he dashed back into his yard toward his car. His wife hurried over to help Selena with Lily. Selena grabbed the phone from the ground and followed them, trying to make it work. It finally powered on once they were inside the car. She called her mom. “It’s Lily,” she said first, her voice shaking. “We’re on our way to the hospital.” “I’ll be on my way,” her mother replied in a worried tone before hanging up. Selena lowered the phone and turned back to her sister. Lily was still unconscious, her breathing shallow and fading. Her skin was even starting to turn blue. “Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t,” Selena muttered as panic took over. Everything she knew to do suddenly vanished from her mind. Her thoughts were blank, her chest tight. “Drive faster!” she shouted at the man behind the wheel. And he did. When they arrived at the hospital, they rushed straight to the emergency wing. Nurses immediately took Lily from Selena’s arms and placed her on a stretcher. Selena followed, but before long, someone stopped her and told her she couldn’t go any further. She stood frozen, watching as they disappeared into a room. She didn’t know what to do, so she just stood there, lost. Then, a gentle hand touched her shoulder. She turned to see her mother. “She’s going to be fine. This happens every week. She’s going to be fine,” her mother said, almost like she was trying to convince herself. Tears streamed freely down Selena’s face. She hadn’t even realized she was crying until her mother wiped them away. “Yeah, she’s going to be fine,” Selena whispered back. Half an hour later, they were in the waiting area with a few others, including their neighbors. It was a very expensive hospital, the same one where Elijah worked. Selena hoped she’d see him, and with that thought, she kept trying to call him. Her phone screen was cracked, but it still worked. She suspected she had been blocked because her calls never went through, but that didn’t stop her from trying. “Selena? Can I talk to you in private for a minute?” her mother asked softly. Selena nodded, swallowing hard as she put her phone in her pocket and stood. “Sure.” She followed her mother down the hall until they were alone. “Have you talked to him? Elijah,” her mother asked. “Have you fixed things with him yet? You know I can’t afford anything here. Your sister’s treatment is very expensive.” Selena forced a small smile. “I have, and he said he would handle it. Don’t worry,” she lied. Her mother was already worried about Lily, she didn’t need to worry about money too. Her mother’s face softened in relief. “Are you sure?” she asked, hope filling her eyes. “Yes, Mom. He’s going to take care of it all as usual.” Selena forced a chuckle. “Thank the Moon goddess,” her mother said, pulling her into a hug. Selena hugged her back, tears spilling again. After a few seconds, her mother pulled away. “I’ll be right back, I just need to use the bathroom.” Selena smiled weakly and nodded before she walked away. Did she go to the bathroom? No. Did she want to? Yes, but not to use it, only to cry her heart out. She knew this hospital well, so finding Elijah’s office wasn’t difficult. He was one of the top doctors here. Normally, no one was allowed on that floor without authorization, but everyone knew she was his mate, so no one stopped her. And the fact that no one did meant Elijah hadn’t yet announced that he planned to reject their bond. Not yet. That small thought gave her a flicker of hope. When she reached his office, she saw him through the glass wall, focused on his computer. Still, this was too important to wait. She knocked on the glass, and when he looked up, his eyes lit up for just a moment before dimming with sadness. She opened the door and stepped inside. “Elijah…” “No, you need to leave,” he said as he rose to his feet. “I’m not doing this with you. I’ve already contacted my lawyers. Things will be finalized soon.” “I’m sorry,” Selena’s voice cracked. “I’m so sorry.” Tears filled her eyes. “I messed up, and I don’t…I don’t know what I’ll do if you leave me.” “Selena, we’re done. It’s final. There’s no changing my mind.” She sighed, wiping her tears even though they kept falling. She was about to say something, but a beeping sound suddenly broke the silence. Elijah pulled something from his pocket and glanced at it. It was his pager. His eyes widened instantly. “Sh*t, it’s Lily!” he shouted, rushing past her and out of the room.Cassie was sitting in the passenger’s seat of the G-wagon, right next to the new hot guy she had just met. She was mesmerized by him.He was not only hot, but he was smart as well. His mannerisms were great and everything he did or say was just so attractive to her.“Malek,” she said his name. It felt good to roll it off her tongue, but for some reason, she felt like she had heard it before. She just couldn’t put her finger on where or when. “Yes, that’s my name.” He focused on the road, driving them further away from the hospital. “And yours is Cassandra, right?” The blonde girl was taken aback by this. “How—how do you know my name?” She asked, nervousness filling her. She glanced at the door and it was locked. The guy also started driving a bit faster now. He smirked when he felt her eyes on him. “Let’s just say that I have my ways.” He chuckled, keeping his eyes on the road. Cassie’s mind was racing, spinning and trying to calculate if she found a way to jump out of the moving c
It was dark, and it was cold. That was before Selena opened her eyes. When they were open, her vision started to clear up, her memory a bit fuzzy. It was no longer dark, but it was still cold. She looked around and soon found out that she was in a hospital room. Then her eyes fell on someone who was also in the room with her. She had thought she was alone. It was Elijah. “Look who’s awake,” he said, chuckling to himself. Her eyes fell on his bandaged hand and she looked back to his eyes. “Where am I? What happened?” Her memory was still here and there, nothing really solid. He walked over to her bed, a soft smile on his face. “You’re in the hospital, Selena. You were brought here by someone a few hours ago and you just underwent surgery.”“Surgery? What…?” Then it all started to come back to her. She started to remember everything. From the argument she had with the alpha to the blonde girl pretending to help her. “Cassie…” She said in a low tone while trying to sit up. When she w
Wolfbane. The word had made Selena’s heart drop. She knew about this stuff, she learned about it in high school. It was illegal in most of the packs, including theirs. This was something that could kill a full grown werewolf in just a few minutes, sometimes even less, depending on the potency of the one used. And now the omega had just been told that Cassie had given her that to drink. “You’re trying to kill me?” The blonde girl swallowed hard before replying, “I was.” She sighed shakily. “But not anymore. That’s why I took the mug away from you.”“Cassie, I drank half of what was in the mug! And you watched me!”“I know, that’s why…” She walked past the omega and headed to the door, opening it. “That’s why we need to go to the hospital now. I want to save you.”“I…” “Can we please talk more when we’re actually at the hospital? Please? We don’t have much time.”Selena was hurt, but again, what did she expect from the blonde girl? She hated how she had been stupid enough to believe t
Cassie walked into the room and headed towards the bed, sitting on it. Then she watched the omega close the door before turning in her direction.“Why are you here?”“I uh, I heard you and Maddox arguing,” she began, still hugging the mug in her hand. “And considering what I did to you during training today, I felt bad. You’re going through a lot right now and I just…I feel like you need a friend.” She smiled. Sniffling and wiping her face with the back of her hand, the omega stared, a look of confusion in her eyes. “Um…okay, I guess. Thanks.”Cassie nodded weakly, handing the mug to the girl. “It’s chamomile tea, it helps with stress. I added a little extra something to help you sleep as well.”“A little extra something?” Suspicion laced her tone.“Honey.” The blonde girl stood to her feet. “Natural honey from our mountains. It’s quite expensive and hard to get.”Selena didn’t know what to think about this. Why was the girl suddenly being nice to her? It didn’t make any sense. Just
As Cassie opened the door before walking in, she could hear voices. It was like people were arguing. At first, she couldn’t figure out who the voices belonged to, but as she walked deeper into the house, she soon found out.It was the omega and the alpha. As for Selena, she had no clue that the blonde girl had returned. And frankly, she didn’t care. She was way too focused on the fact that the alpha was pissed at her because of the whole white-haired Luna thing.“I just don’t see the issue!” She shouted at him. “The issue is pretty clear, Selena. You’re the white-haired Luna and you didn’t tell me.” He was angry, but wasn’t shouting though. His tone was hard and mostly monotonous. It was like he was trying to hold himself back. “Are you serious? No, are you actually serious?”“I am!” He snapped. “I am! Gosh, Selena, I am!” He pulled on his hair in frustration before continuing. “You kept something that important a secret from me! This is something that could have helped us to be ab
Heart pounding, Cassie swallowed hard. “Are you sure? We haven’t heard from dad in a very long time.”“I’m f*cking sure, Cassandra.” The woman scoffed before taking a long sip of her wine and then turning away. She proceeded to walk, heading towards the living room. The blonde girl knew she had to follow, and that was what she did. She followed her mom into the living room and they sat down. “So what do we do?” She asked in a small voice as she played with her fingers nervously. “Do we…do we sell the house?”"God forbid, that’s never happening. What’s wrong with you?” Her mom seemed offended by the suggestion. The woman placed her wine glass on the coffee table before continuing, “If we sell this place, everyone will know. Everyone in this god-forsaken town will know we have fallen from our high horse. Our respect will be stripped from us.”Cassie nodded. That was true, and she didn’t want that either. “Okay.”“And don’t get me started on how we would have to move in a normal and poor
