"Kara dear, where have you seen this place? You are painting it as if you have been there before."
I stopped what I was doing long enough to look at her and said,
" Oh, this lake was in a dream I had and I wanted to paint it as soon as I got up so I wouldn't forget about it. I thought it was too pretty to not put on a painting." I lied to her, which I don't normally do.
" I agree, now come down and eat your breakfast. You can finish your painting after you eat."
I told her that I would be right down and that I had to clean up. She leaves and closes the door behind her. I hurried and got dressed in a pair of bluejeans and a flower print top that hung slightly off my shoulders, brushed my long brown hair and ran down stairs. My father had already gone to the office to work and it was just me and mom for the time being because she was about to go to the office today as well.
I went back to my room to go and finish my painting I had been working on that morning. I was just finishing up when my dad mind-linked me and said,
("Kara dear could you come to the office, please there is someone here we would like you to meet")
I replied back, ("Be there shortly and, oh and dad, if you try to match me up with a chosen mate again, I am not having it. I am waiting for my true mate") I told her as I cut the link off.
My parents usually don't tell me anything that is going on that is pack related, they only seem to call me to their office when they want to tell me something or have me meet someone. I hurried and ran upstairs to the third floor where my parents' offices were. When I got there, I heard the most amazing voice I had ever heard, but I was too furious to open the door, so I knocked lightly and waited for them to let me in instead of barging in like I normally do when they call their office.
"Come in dear." my dad said. I hesitated about opening the door at first because my dad had been so obsessed about setting me up with a chosen mate. He keeps calling me down to the office every time that he has a male visitor to see if I would choose them as my mate. It was really starting to piss me off. I walked in just about to start screaming at my dad about how he should respect my wishes about me wanting to find my true mate. When the most handsome guy I had ever seen stood up to greet me, he was wearing nothing but a plain white tee that hugged his chiseled chest and a pair of bluejeans. His black hair was combed back and his face looked at me softly and he smiled at me while his deep brown eyes looked at me with some kind of longing.. He reached his hand out to me to shake it. But when I went to return the jester, he gently brought my hand to his lips and kissed it softly. I was stunned by his actions, but I didn't give it a second thought till I heard the word that I never thought I would hear from him, or from anyone, for that matter, if my parents had gotten their way. "MATE", he whispered softly to me.
Anyway, you can say that I was thrilled that I had found my true mate and wouldn't be set up with a chosen mate by my parents. "Mom, Dad, do you mind if I talk to Atlas alone, please I would like to get to know him more, if that is alright with you?" I asked my parents. Without saying a word, they looked at each other, smiled and got up and left the room, leaving me and Atlas alone. From what I heard about the matebond is that your wolf would be able to tell if the person that is next to you is your true mate, by their scent that the other person's wolf smells, but being with no wolf I didn't smell that with him or so I thought until a very faint smell of cedar and pine musk hit my nose, I had to go with my gut feeling and I felt safe with Atlas. I felt as if he wouldn't hurt me. Again I brushed off the sensation of the scent I thought I could have been from where he lived, but as we talked I began to feel as if I had someone starting to stir inside my head, but just faintly. With that, I shook off the feeling. When I asked him about his pack and where it was, he began to tell me where it was located and that there was a huge crystal clear lake there and that it was bordered by a mountain chain. I looked at him with amazement and he had a puzzled look on his face. I told him I needed to show him something and then I hurried out of the office, ran to my room and grabbed the painting and went back to where I had left him. I turned the painting around and showed it to him. He looked at it and was surprised. He stated that there was a lake on his land that looked just like that. I was astounded by his statement. We looked at each other for a moment before he told me that he had to go because he had a pack to run and that he would send for me in weeks' time that he had to prepare his pack and packhouse for my arrival. As he stood up, I walked up to him and he kissed me softly on my cheek and said to me till I saw my aruna again. And with that, he leaves and takes one last look at me and walks out of the room.
Could this really be happening, I thought to myself? Did I just really find my mate? I was so happy inside. I was dancing all over my parents' office. Yet I was terrified on the inside because he said that he was coming for me in a weeks' time. I had a lot to do, a lot to pack and what I would take with me.
My mother opened the door to her office and, without saying a word, she lifted me up and gave me a hug and said to me “Oh my dear I am so glad that you finally found your mate.” Grabbing me in a tight hug.
My name is Atlas Moun. I am 19 years old and I am the Alpha of the Moon Stone Pack. I was in my office going over my current pack reports when my phone began to ring. I picked up my cell phone and looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Alpha Drake from the Lunar Eclipse Pack calling.
"I wonder what he wants?" I asked myself as I picked up my cell phone to answer his call.
"Hello Alpha Atlas. Speaking, how can I help you, Alpha Drake?" I asked.
One year later, "Kale, come down here right now! Everyone has arrived!" Kara yelled at our child as he flew over our heads. "Coming mother," Kale yelled back. Kale soared through the sky, his bright little phoenix form spinning as it dove towards the ground. Kale landed lightly on the ground, shifted into his human form, put on his suit and ran towards the crowd. Everyone was standing in the backyard waiting for him. The backyard was festively decorated with balloons, streamers, and party poppers were being popped as he ran by. Today was his first birthday. I can not believe that I have died not once but twice. I looked around everyone as they were laughing and having fun. Kale and his friends were over by the petting zoo playing with all the different animals. I could not help but feel a little uneasy though, because I knew my son would never have a regular normal life in our pack due to him being like me. But I wanted him to give him the normal life that he deserved. As I was lost i
"What do you mean by that?" Atlas asked with a worried look on his face. "It's nothing serious, I just need a blood sample, that is all, but I need it from your heart." the dragon said as he went to the altar and waited for Atlas to respond. Atlas looked at the dragon questioningly. "From my heart?" Atlas managed to finally ask. The dragon looked at him and nodded his head as he motioned Atlas up to the altar. Atlas followed and when he came up beside the dragon, he drew up a claw and stabbed Atlas in the heart and with a quick breath of a tiny stream of fire burned the hole, slit his own wrist and gave it to Atlas to drink, with he reluctantly did. As he drank the blood, Atlas' wound became fully healed. The dragon then placed a few droops of the blood from Atlas' heart on the altar. "I need you to clear your head and think about Kara and your unborn pup," the dragon told Atlas. Only thinking of Kara and his unborn pup, Apollo begins to become unsettled in the back of Atlas' mind. Whi
After what felt like hours, nothing happened. Atlas knew then that Kara was not coming back. Apollo hauled inside his head, but not in fear, but in sorrow and anger. Atlas was certain that Kara would come back. But after lighting the fire and waiting what seemed like forever and nothing happened like the first time he did that, after she was killed by the Grimlock, Atlas was beside himself and collapsed to the ground drying in agony. His beloved Kara was gone for good. And what hurt him even more, his pup was dead as well. As his mom approached him to console him, he looked up at her and Apollo growled at her. He wouldn't let anyone near Atlas because he knew that if Atlas went down this path he would be able to take control and shift and take their pain out on everyone in the pack. Apollo, as upset as he was, did not want to do that. He held back from shifting but feeling his human's pain was making it hard for him to fight shifting. So, instead, he went and built a wall inside Atlas'
Atlas was beside himself all the way back to his and Kara's house. When Atlas made it back to the oak house he went straight upstairs to his and Kara's bedroom. He could smell her scent in the room. He turned around and locked the door. Atlas hadn't heard Apollo since leaving the hospital, but he could feel him. As he was walking round, his beta knocked on the door. Atas walked up to the door and unlocked it but didn't open it. He’s beta let himself in. When he closed the door, Atlas was already standing in front of his bar in his room pouring a few drinks. Atlas handed his beta a glass and as soon as he took it, Atlas drank all of his and poured himself another and gulped it down. But instead of pouring another, he took the bottle off the shelf and began taking big swigs out of the bottle, wanting to wash today's events out of his head and Kara out of his mind. His beta sensed that Atlas was on a downhill spiral, so he had to try and help him. "Alpha?" his beta asked. Atlas looked at
One day I was walking into the kitchen, I felt the worst pain that I had ever had in my life. Calypso my wolf started howling in my head. "You're going into labor, you need to get Atlas now." she yelled. I linked Atlas and told him what was going on. Before I knew it, he was running into the house. He ran up to me as another wave of pain came over my body. As he wrapped me in his arms, I felt a warm wet gush of fluid hit the floor. "I believe my water just broke!" I exclaimed to Atlas. Atlas quickly linked to our pack doctor and rushed me out the front door. When we got to the car, his beta was already waiting for us. I had another wave of pain shooting through my body. Atlas helped me into the car and cradled me in his lap as his beta drove us to the pack hospital. By the time we got there, I was in so much pain I thought I couldn't take it anymore. "Something's wrong." I softly whispered to Atlas as he helped me out of the car. "You will be fine Kara, I am sure this pain you are feel
A month later, I woke up feeling really sick. I ran to the bathroom and threw up what I had left over from dinner the night before. Atlas came running in behind me and held my hair back while I continued to spill my stomach into the toilet. He called his mom to come over. Once I was done, I rinsed my mouth out and when I walked into the bedroom she was already in my room with Atals and me. "I called the doctor, she should be here any moment." She said. "Why would I need a doctor? I am sure it's just a bug." I replied. "Or it could mean something else," his mom said with a smile. "You think she could be having a pup?" Atals asked. "That's exactly what I mean. Kara dear, when was your last cycle?" she said, smiling at me. I looked at her confused and then it hit me. "I haven't had one since we mated that night." I said. "Then we will know for sure when the doctor arrives. But you need to eat first. If there is a pup in you, you will need all the nutrients you can get." she said as she we
