The Moon Stone Guardian

I am not really good at telling people about myself. I am usually shy and a timid person, but being the daughter of an Alpha, that isn't a very good quality to have. But I have to start somewhere. So here it goes. My name is Kara Barlowe. I am the 17-year-old daughter of Luna Anita and Alpha Drake Barlowe. My mother is an Alpha by birth as well, which is rare to happen in the werewolf world, being a female Alpha, which makes me an even rarer person. Because I am an Alpha as well, but I am different from all the werewolves in my pack. I was born into the Lunar Moon pack as a human. That's right. I was born woofless. But neither my parents nor my pack didn't care that I had no wolf. They treated me as one of their equals, as if I had a wolf my whole life. I trained daily with all the warriors and even became one of the pack's best fighters. Even though I was woofless, I was stronger than most humans could even imagine. Because of being without a wolf, I had all their strengths but none of their weaknesses. I guess that had to do with me being an Alpha as well. I loved training with the pack, it allowed me to be a part of them as well, allowing me to get the fighting training I needed to protect myself if I needed to. I loved my life, but things were about to change for me that you wouldn't be able to imagine in a million years.

It was late at night and I was in my bedroom sleeping when I had this dream that seemed to be so real that I almost thought that it was it. It was about a month before my 18th birthday. When I felt as if I was being pulled out of my body and was standing beside this amazingly beautiful woman at the most amazing mountain lake I had ever seen. Her hair seemed to be shimmering in the moonlight that flowed around her as if it was being blown by the wind along with her flowing white gown that she was wearing, and beside her was a very large female wolf whose fur was as silver as the moon itself that seemed to glow in the moonlight, who was looking up at her. As I walked closer to the woman,

She looked at me and said, "Welcome my child. My name is Selene. I am the Moon Goddess. I brought you here to tell you of your purpose in the world, and what you are destined for my child. Don't be frightened. She won't bite you." she said to me, looking at the wolf with a soft smile on her face.

"Her name is Calypso, and she is a very special wolf. She will be yours when you have fulfilled your tasks. Selene looks at me and smiles, reaching her hand out to me, wanting me to take it.

" Come my child," she says to me, "I need to show you something."

I reach out and as I take her hand I begin to feel as if I am being pulled through time and space. When we finally stopped, we were on the other side of the lake and there was a mouth to a cave in the mountain. As I was looking at the cave I happened to see two crescent moons facing either other at the top of the entrance. Selene turns and looks at me and says

" This is the entrance to where the great moonstone is being held. I can not go inside and show you where it is. I am forbidden to do so. It is up to you to locate it inside. Once you do, you will be bestowed with one of the greatest gifts I have ever given to a human. Not only will you have Calypso here as your wolf, but you will also have abilities along with it.

I looked at her dumbfounded. Not knowing what to say or what to believe. She continues on, saying "you must find the moonstone before your 18th birthday and have it in your possession on the day when the wolf moon, full moon, and blue moon, also known as the great moon reach its peak in the sky. You also have to stand in the light of the moon for everything that I just told you to come to pass."

She looks at me, wanting to know what I am thinking. I mean what am I thinking? She just told me something. If I weren't here seeing this place for myself at this very minute, I would think that she was mental or crazy. Selene laughs and looks at me lovingly and replies as if hearing my thoughts,

"Oh my child, this place is so real you will know when you reach the area where this lake is you will be able to sense it. But don't let anyone know because this place happens to be in a pack that is far away and they don't even know that this is here because they can't see the entrance, only you and I can.

All I could do was nod my head at her in understanding.

"It is time for me to go, my child" she says to me, "we will meet again."

She reaches out for my hand again. When I take it, we are instantly back in my room and her and Calypso are starting to fade as they do. She said to me,

" You must also find your true mate during this time, because your abilities will be stronger with your mate at your side."

I got up out of bed and looked around and was thinking, was this a dream? I went into my closet and pulled out my painting isle and painted because I wanted to get the image in my head on something fast before I forgot what it looked like. I was painting for what seemed like forever when there was a knock on my bedroom door. Quickly looking up at my desk clock, I saw that it was early in the morning. I was shocked that it seemed like the whole night had just gone by in a blur, but I hadn't felt like I had been up all night.

" Who is it?" I asked.

"It's your mother," my mom replied through the door.

"Come in mom", I hollered, trying to sound annoyed.

My mother opens the door and looks around as if she was looking for something or someone.

" What is it mom?" I asked her, not taking my eyes off my canvas,

"I am in the middle of something." I told her as I continued to paint.

My mom continues to come and stand behind me and look at the picture I am painting.
