Chapter Twenty-Seven—The Unwanted Mate

**AURORA**

The first person I sought after was Mrs Ackerman the moment I rode away on my bike. She lived only a few blocks away from me. I parked my bike next to the Mail post which made a dingy sound, her dog started to bark loudly. I frowned, almost wanting to pet the Doberman when she came out to the porch.

“Aurora??” She called softly.

A part of me felt guilty, the woman was right after all. Mythical creatures do exist.

I should know because I slept with one…

And I watched him fight, like an animal.

Thinking about it alone sent shivers down my spine. The ride down to her house was one of dread and horror, I looked over my shoulder multiple times, scared that the creature which attacked me would return.

Forty-Two—The Hunter Group(2) “Hi I’m Sebastian.” He repeated again, the one who saved me. I panted heavily, unable to fathom or gather my very own thoughts. Scared. Terrified from the high chase that was almost bound to take my life by Dinah, she was a Luna from what she said. He stretched forth his hand again, right after he adjusted the string on his mechanic bow. I could smell the poison on it—Wolfsbane. My heart thumped so fast, I was scared it would rip from my chest, as I stretched my hands towards him. He pulled me up, I dusted the granules of dirt away from the back of my skirt. Still panting heavily, he led me down the forest whilst looking sideways frantically. He was a stranger and yet I held onto him like my life depended on it. “Stay close. There might be more from the pack looming around.” “Pack??” My voice was raspy, “You know all about them?” “The Midnight Pack?” He replied, “Yes I do. They’ve been terrorizing the town for centuries. I thoug

Chapter Thirty-Six—A dead end For the first time in all Twenty-seven years of living, I felt my heart stop. I closed my eyes for a moment, hoping, praying, that Dinah in front of me was just an illusion. But she wasn’t… She was standing right in front of me.. “What are you— “I followed you.” I frowned deeply. Surely there was no way she could’ve followed me without my knowledge, unless she masked her own scent. My eyes narrowed and I saw Regan’s special elixir, made to combat and hide a werewolf’s presence. My brows creased even deeper, wishing he’d never made the stupid thing. Clearing my throat, “You followed me?” She shrugged, “You were blowing me off.” “I wasn’t blowing you off.” My eyes wandered, hoping she wouldn’t notice, “I clearly set a boundary Dinah. I didn’t want to be disturbed and yet, here you are.” She let out a scoff, taking a seat down on the sand, the rumbling of the fast moving waters could be heard. Once it was a sound whic

Chapter Thirty-Seven—Asher’s Secret **AURORA** A dreaded sense of chill coursed through my veins as I made my way through the woods. The memories of my first attack, by the redwood tree, Asher’s lies about how i simply just passed out. It all came in full force, now that I knew what he really was, and how his kind existed. I could already hear the water by the creek. The same soothing sounds that seemed to calm my nerves, I gulped hard, clutching onto the bottle of wolfsbane powder Mrs Ackerman had given to me. I was going to see him and I wasn’t sure why. A part of me wanted to end things for good, a huge part of me didn’t. A part wanted to take back the painting, the other wanted him to have it—money or not. After all, he was my perfect muse. I stepped on a branch, cursing under my breath as my skirt was caught in a snag. I crouched low to wrangle the fabric free, when I felt a sharp breeze brush past me. I quickly jerked upright, my throat ran dry. I turned aro
