In a modern world split between werewolves and tropics, Elowen Wynter is a young lycan princess trapped between duty and danger. At 22, she was raised in a palace but treated more like a pawn. Born blonde-haired with soft grey eyes, she carries both fragility and quiet strength. Her life changes when her father sells her to Cyrus Vexley, a powerful alpha from another pack. He treats her coldly and uses her to spite her people. But fate has other plans. Dorian Thorne – the strong, silent alpha king of the SilverMoon pack – enters her life and awakens something deep inside her. He is the soulmate she didn’t know she needed. Torn between fear, hope, and a growing bond she can’t ignore, Elowen fights to find her voice. As betrayal weaves through her family’s walls, and plots swirl around her, she must confront dark truths. Meanwhile, enemies loom. Ravina Vale, jealous and cruel, wants Dorian for herself. Darrow Kaine, Elowen’s adopted brother, hungers for power. The clock ticks as Elowen’s secret pregnancy unfolds – a child she never wanted, a secret she can’t keep. The halls of the estate were alive with the echoes of voices that filled the hallway.
The faint strains of music trailed down the pathway leading to the courtyard where everyone was seated gracefully.
The pack was celebrating, unaware of the tension building inside me.
Tonight was not only about the celebration for me, but it was the one chance I had to see my mate, Cyrus.
Our relationship dynamic has withered a lot of storms but can't seem to survive either of them. It was against my wish when I got mated and betrothed to him due to my brother's greedy self, he wanted to have an alliance with a powerful kingdom and Alpha, assisting in his affairs and businesses.
I stood in front of the mirror at the corner of the room, my shaky hand over my hair for the hundredth time as I subconsciously counted the seconds before my door would finally be let open.
Tonight marked the sixth year anniversary of Cyrus being the Alpha, and that was the sole reason I was being left out. His reasons were, he wanted to show the world how beautiful of a wife he has and fuel his ego.
It had been over a year since I’d been locked in this gilded cage, my sole purpose reduced to bearing children for the Alpha. He never saw me as a person, all I was to him is a baby factory who produces children whenever he wants.
To Cyrus, I was nothing more than a pawn who he got as a freebie from a deal he had with his business partner. Ever since I came here, my life has changed completely.
Not for good, but for worse.
The word felt almost meaningless now, far from what I'd once believed it to be.
I ran my hand over the linen fabric on my stomach. It has been two months, and I have not gotten the chance to tell him.
Honestly, I hoped to tell him in person but ever since he abruptly stopped visiting and completely turned cold and weird towards me, I had not gotten the chance to.
It's been eight weeks of silence torture. I was happy and at the same sad, he stopped visiting me often. Whenever he came, it was always about sex and ramming his dick in me. And when he stopped frequently coming for his usual appointments, I felt relieved for a while.
My relief was shortened when I figured out I had missed my period for two consecutive months. I was dumbfounded and in disbelief, I struggled to grasp my internal thoughts to process myself.
Fortunately, I had the opportunity to get my hands on a pregnancy kit which I told one of my trusted maids to get for me.
Sadly, my greatest fear came to pass.
I was pregnant. I was currently carrying a baby for a man who doesn't love me, and instead, sees me as an object of usage.
Tonight was my only chance. I decided that I must tell Cyrus about this, regardless of having no access to my personal bank details. I thought, hoped, that maybe, this news would change someone in him.
Maybe, this news about having a baby might change the way he felt about me. Maybe he would finally see me as a person, and not just an object he owned. Maybe, he'll acknowledge our bond and me as being his mate.
The sharp turn of keys jolted me back to reality. I guess I've been delusional enough, like how Cyrus always said whenever I brought up the topic of being let out and not held captive.
His exact words were, “Elowen, I'm sorry but that's an impossible request you ask of me. You're my mate and partner, and you're only permitted to see me and do whatever I tell you to. Got it?”
The door creaked open, and Lia, the pack's head maid, gracefully stepped in. I couldn't have been more relieved to see her.
She was modestly dressed as she gracefully walked into the room. This was a big celebration for Cyrus and his board of team and members, and his instructions were clear to everyone.
“You dare not make me look bad to everyone else. Got it?” He had ordered, which prompted everyone to dress moderately even though they were not part of his high class.
What he wants is to give them the impression of being a nice and caring boss, which is quite the opposite of what he truly is.
“It is almost time.” She informed me, gave me a small knowing smile and bowed her head slightly. She walked slowly towards me, grabbed a piece of scissors to cut the hem of my dress.
“The Alpha wants you to look exceptionally sexy tonight. I'm sorry, but I had to.”
“It's fine.” I assured, knowing fully well that no one dares to go against Cyrus's order.
“You look beautiful. Exceptionally stunning and lovely!”
“Uhm…thank you.” I muttered, as a pink blush appeared on my cheeks. This was the first time in years someone had actually looked at me to appreciate my beauty.
Cyrus never cared to tell me nor appreciate me. All he wants is for me to look pretty, sexy and have children for him.
“You look beautiful too, Lia.” I added, smiling softly at her. “The color suits your skin perfectly!”
“Oh! Thank you ma'am!” She said, chuckles softly. “Are you still anxious…about telling him?”
“A bit.”
“You don't have to be anxious or nervous about this.” She assured me, “This is the perfect time to tell this beautiful news. Babies are gifts from heaven. The Alpha will definitely be happy if he knows about this, he's been wanting a child for the longest time now!”
“You really think so?”
“Yes.” She affirmed, “It is going to go well. Be rest assured, and do not worry about anything.”
“I really hope it goes well, Lia.”
I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat.
Without another word, I quickly brushed past her, the hem of my dress sweeping the floor.
My heart pounded with a mix of hope and dread.
As I neared the grand staircase, I paused.
A familiar voice drifted from one of the side rooms, low and commanding. Cyrus.
I shouldn’t have stopped. I knew better not be present nor linger where I wasn’t wanted. But something in his tone made me freeze, my feet rooted to the spot. Then I heard him say words that shattered the little hope I had clung to.
ELOWEN'S POV Dorian was uneasy.Who was this woman who rattled him so badly?“I'll handle her. Just tell her I'm unavailable for now.” He ordered the guard. “Make sure she doesn't find out I'm here. Got it?”“But she asked to see you Alpha…” the guard persisted, trying to convince Dorian otherwise. “Miss Leah asked to see you Alpha, she said it's quite urgent.”“Are your ears for decoration?” Dorian snapped, “I told you to tell her that I'm unavailable! Got it?”The guard flinched, throwing me a dark glare before he left. “Sure Alpha.. I'll relay your message to Miss Leah.” The guard replied, looking at me with a dark glare. Dorian dismissed him shortly after, and ordered him not to say a word about his whereabouts to Leah.“I'm sorry about that. Did I startle you?” He asked.“No, it's fine.” I responded, avoiding eye contact with him. “But can I ask you a question?”“Sure. You're free to. Go ahead!” He urged.“You seemed nervous when the guard mentioned her name.” I said, “Could
ELOWEN'S POV A tall dark figure emerged from the dark shadows, his prensence demeaning. His hands wrapped around my wrists as he led me away.“I'll take care of her from here.” The figure said, marching down the hallway. His steps echoed as the guards followed him along the hallway. “We can take care of her from here, Alpha. You don't have to stress yourself over a lycan.” One of the wolves suggested, grabbing my right hand. He insisted I followed them but Alpha Dorian declined and he insisted on dealing with me by himself.“I said it's fine!” He growled, his voice cold. “Don't question me further. I'll handle it from here. Got it?”“But Alpha…what if she tries to hurt you? She's a lycan after all!” Another guard persisted, urging Alpha Dorian to let go of my hand.“Are you insane?” Alpha Dorian retorted, yelling at the wolf. His grip on my wrist tightened as he proceeded to lead me out of the hallway.Something..which looked like a secret place where no one is allowed to be in.“
ELOWEN'S POVBlood drained from my face as I struggled to respond. “How..how did you know?” I stuttered in disbelief. How did he find out about my pregnancy?“Your little maid friend.” He said, laughing hysterically. “You actually thought she wouldn't say a word to me? Have you forgotten the rules of the Manor, Elowen?”How could she do this to me? She knew how far I've gone in this Manor and everything I had to endure. “She told you?” “Yes.” He scoffed, “She thought you told me already. Spilled everything right in my palm.”“It's so dumb of you, Elowen. You were actually planning on keeping this a secret from me and running off with my child? The heir to my pack?” He continued, absolutely berating me. “What were you thinking, huh? That I would not catch you?”His smirk deepened as he stared at me darkly, “You'll rot in here until he's born and I am done with you. And you better pray it is a boy you're carrying, else you'll be in more trouble.” I whispered, trying to call him. “Von
ELOWEN'S POV I sprang up on the floor, grabbed my box which was filled with my necessities before heading towards the door. My hands reached for the door knob. My heart beating faster with every step I took, adrenaline rushed through my body, hastening and jolting me back to reality. This is my only way of getting out of this misery. This is the only way I'll be able to save my child and prevent it from being used as a continuation of Cyrus’s game. The worst mistake I could ever make is to give birth to an heir for him. He would end me immediately, citing that my job was done here.Every move of mine was calculated. I had it at the back of my mind that I must never be caught or seen by anyone, including the guests. I couldn't afford to make a sound or to be seen.Fortunately, there was no one in sight as I stepped out of my room. I was grateful that the celebration was moved to the West wing of the house. There were few foreseen issues which resulted in Cyrus changing the location
ELOWEN'S POV I turned quickly, hurrying to the opposite hall, desperate to escape being caught by Cyrus. If he catches me eavesdropping on their conversation, he might reconsider his decision of letting me out today. This was the only chance I've got to escape this horrible life I've been living here. I couldn't take it anymore as hot tears poured from my eyes. Every step I took, my heart thudded more. My mind raced as the truth slapped me right across my face. Cyrus would never see me as his mate, nor his equal. To him, I'll always be a sex object and a baby machine. He doesn't acknowledge me nor does he care about me, all he wants is for me to bear an heir for him.I was just a tool…a pawn in his game of power.Fortunately, I was unable to tell him about my pregnancy. He does not deserve to be the father of my child, nor does he deserve to be in our life. My breath seized in shallow gasps and I was unable to think straight. “What was I supposed to do now? What's the next step f
ELOWEN'S POV “She seems to be of great value in more ways than one.” Cyrus said, his tone sounded casual, almost like a smug.Unfortunately, my curiosity got the best of me as I thought to myself. “Who is he talking about?” “What other value does she hold then?” A voice responded. It was his beta, Bella.Cyrus let out a sinister chuckle. “Leverage.” He said, “Her bloodline makes her the prize, the one true heir to the Heliotrope’s throne. She is the key to securing alliances and destroying all the possible future threats that might appear. She is our key to power, Bella. With her being here, we'll have everything we can possibly wish for.”The sound of my name rang repeatedly in my head, as the fresh breath of air slapped across my face. He continued, “She will draw them out. When they figure out and realize who she truly is, they'll come running back for her..and we will destroy them, sparing none of them. By then, it'll be too late for them to have her back.”I gripped the bars o
