ELOWEN'S POV

Dorian was uneasy.

Who was this woman who rattled him so badly?

“I'll handle her. Just tell her I'm unavailable for now.” He ordered the guard. “Make sure she doesn't find out I'm here. Got it?”

“But she asked to see you Alpha…” the guard persisted, trying to convince Dorian otherwise. “Miss Leah asked to see you Alpha, she said it's quite urgent.”

“Are your ears for decoration?” Dorian snapped, “I told you to tell her that I'm unavailable! Got it?”

The guard flinched, throwing me a dark glare before he left.

“Sure Alpha.. I'll relay your message to Miss Leah.” The guard replied, looking at me with a dark glare.

Dorian dismissed him shortly after, and ordered him not to say a word about his whereabouts to Leah.

“I'm sorry about that. Did I startle you?” He asked.

“No, it's fine.” I responded, avoiding eye contact with him.

“But can I ask you a question?”

“Sure. You're free to. Go ahead!” He urged.

“You seemed nervous when the guard mentioned her name.” I said, “Could she be your mate?”

“Oh, no, no, no!” He chuckled softly, “Ravina is a friend to me. Not a mate. I didn't want to see her for personal reasons, I wouldn't want to disclose it.”

“I understand.” I said, brushing aside his remarks.

“I'll be leaving now. Make yourself at home, alright? I'll be down across the hallway if you need me. Okay?” He uttered, his lips parting as he stared at me one last time before he left.

“Goodnight…Elowen?”

“Yes. It's Elowen.” I reminded him, “Goodnight Alpha Dorian…and thanks for today too…”

“It's absolutely fine! Nothing to be thankful for, Elowen.” He dismissed, stopping from thanking him repeatedly, “And you can call me Dorian, I'm fine with that.”

We shared a few glances at each other before he departed for the night.

I grabbed my chest as my heartbeat heightened.

What could this be? Why do I feel relaxed here?

My contemplation of telling Dorian about my pregnancy increased, as I struggled to make a decision.

I was still skeptical about what his reaction might be. What if he doesn't want a pregnant woman in his sight? What if he thinks I'm carrying a lycan’s heir?

The night ended with me devouring the meal tray he had brought earlier and changed into the fresh new clothes on the bed.

For the first time in years, I had a peaceful night. I slept peacefully like a baby who had no worries whatsoever. Today was the first time in months I slept without being harassed and raped countless number of times by Cyrus.

And before I knew, I had drifted to sleep.

The next morning, I was woken up by a soft voice who stood above me, blocking the sunlight that reflected from the slides.

“Good morning.” The voice said, standing above the bed.

Slowly, I twitched my eyes to figure out who it was….but it wasn't who I thought.

“Hello dear!” The voice repeated, smiling softly at me. “We finally met! Didn’t we?”

I sprinted up, rushing to cover my body. The smile plastered on her face changed as she stared at me with disgust while I tried to hide my bump.

My baby bump was yet to be visible but if you look closely, you'll figure out that I'm pregnant. I can't let her find out when I haven't even told Dorian about it, it would be horrible if she learns about it from someone else.

“Who are you?” I screamed, panicking. “What are you doing here?”

“I should be asking you that.” The lady replied, her voice dark and intimidating. “You're the one, right?”

My blood ran cold.

“What…?” I asked, hurriedly covering myself with the sheets.

“You're his new toy. Aren't you?” She continued, taking a seat on the bed. “Dorian brought you here last night. Am I wrong?”

“Your name is Elowen. Right?”

“Yes.” I muttered, “Why…?”

She cut me short instantly before I could respond, her words cutting my sentence like a blade.

“You're his little lycan toy, aren't you?” She repeated, her eyes red and filled with rage. “You were the one who made Dorian unavailable last night, huh? You little wench!’

That was when it dawned on me. That was Ravina. The woman Dorian was so nervous and anxious to talk about.

“I…I…I had no idea you wanted to see him.” I lied to her face, trying to appease her but she didn't adhere. Her red hair made her features more striking as she glared at me with hatred.

If looks could kill, Ravina would have ended me right on the spot. She accused me of bewitching Dorian, seducing him and also manipulating him.

“Shut up!” She snapped, “Did I ask for your approval?”

“But you….”

Again, she cut me short. “I told you not to speak when not asked a question!” She yelled at me, pointing her fingers at me. “I wonder why he hasn't killed you yet…or probably he might want to keep you around as a toy.”

“Get this at the back of your blank skull, Dorian is never going to take someone like you seriously. You're nothing but a piece of trash he got from a bargain. That's all you'll ever be, an item!”

“So who are you to him?” I struggled to pick up the last few bits of courage I had left in me.

Her eyes darkened with rage. “Excuse me?” She was startled by retaliation. “What gave you the audacity to question me? How dare you question me?”

“Is it because Dorian messed with you last night, and suddenly you think you're all special or what?” She continued, almost digging her fingers right in my face.

“This is just the beginning of your doom. Remember that. I'll make your life a living hell as long as you're in this Manor!”

Before I could respond, Dorian barged in having heard all the ruckus and chaos that's been going on.

“Perfect timing,” Ravina scoffed, “Tell her Dorian. Tell her exactly what I am to you.”

But Dorian didn't say a word. His eyes stole a few glances of me before Ravina interrupted before he spoke.

She smirked, her voice dropping low. “Tell her Dorian….or should I?”

ELOWEN'S POV I sprang up on the floor, grabbed my box which was filled with my necessities before heading towards the door. My hands reached for the door knob. My heart beating faster with every step I took, adrenaline rushed through my body, hastening and jolting me back to reality. This is my only way of getting out of this misery. This is the only way I'll be able to save my child and prevent it from being used as a continuation of Cyrus’s game. The worst mistake I could ever make is to give birth to an heir for him. He would end me immediately, citing that my job was done here.Every move of mine was calculated. I had it at the back of my mind that I must never be caught or seen by anyone, including the guests. I couldn't afford to make a sound or to be seen.Fortunately, there was no one in sight as I stepped out of my room. I was grateful that the celebration was moved to the West wing of the house. There were few foreseen issues which resulted in Cyrus changing the location

ELOWEN'S POV I turned quickly, hurrying to the opposite hall, desperate to escape being caught by Cyrus. If he catches me eavesdropping on their conversation, he might reconsider his decision of letting me out today. This was the only chance I've got to escape this horrible life I've been living here. I couldn't take it anymore as hot tears poured from my eyes. Every step I took, my heart thudded more. My mind raced as the truth slapped me right across my face. Cyrus would never see me as his mate, nor his equal. To him, I'll always be a sex object and a baby machine. He doesn't acknowledge me nor does he care about me, all he wants is for me to bear an heir for him.I was just a tool…a pawn in his game of power.Fortunately, I was unable to tell him about my pregnancy. He does not deserve to be the father of my child, nor does he deserve to be in our life. My breath seized in shallow gasps and I was unable to think straight. “What was I supposed to do now? ELOWEN'S POV “She seems to be of great value in more ways than one.” Cyrus said, his tone sounded casual, almost like a smug.Unfortunately, my curiosity got the best of me as I thought to myself. “Who is he talking about?” “What other value does she hold then?” A voice responded. It was his beta, Bella.Cyrus let out a sinister chuckle. “Leverage.” He said, “Her bloodline makes her the prize, the one true heir to the Heliotrope’s throne. She is the key to securing alliances and destroying all the possible future threats that might appear. She is our key to power, Bella. With her being here, we'll have everything we can possibly wish for.”The sound of my name rang repeatedly in my head, as the fresh breath of air slapped across my face. He continued, “She will draw them out. When they figure out and realize who she truly is, they'll come running back for her..and we will destroy them, sparing none of them. By then, it'll be too late for them to have her back.”I gripped the bars o
