Chapter 6

"I don't have to tell you anything." Aurora rolled her eyes.

She began to take her hair down from its braid and she messages her head. Caden looked at her with a dumb expression and if the situation wasn't so serious she would have laughed. This was not how she wanted this night to go. And he just had to find her on the night she was trying to follow the people from Delta.

He walked towards her with a threatening look on his face. She only ignored him as she rummaged through her bag for a change of clothes. She had brought two. One to change into now so that when she followed them they would not recognize her and one to change into when she went to her apartment to bathe after.

"Listen, I'm not in the mood for your brattiness. So just spill it."

She sighed and looked at him. Caden was looming over her and she once again got wafted with his smell. She wondered what he put on to get the eucalyptus smell. Or maybe that was his shampoo and conditioner. If that was it then she would have to buy. But then again it may not be good for her hair. It's heavily scented and she would always associate those with cheap companies trying to entice customers when they have really bad ingredients in their products. It could be that the shampoo would have sulfates and she only used them once a month. So maybe she would buy it for that use.

Aurora shook her head out of the thoughts and Caden was still looking at her. "Ok, fine, you want my sob story. I'll tell you. I feel suffocated. Being in that house all the time. Always getting what I want. Being treated like a baby. Yeah, it's nice sometimes because I like it then they dote on me but it got tiring after a while. I didn't feel like I was in control and this makes up for that. Happy now?"

He backed away from her and gave her a small nod. "Yes."

She set up her face. "So all this means is that you're actually very useless and should probably leave since I'm more than capable of protecting myself."

"How long have you been doing this?"

Aurora turned away. "I don't have to tell you that. Now, can you leave, please? I have things to do."

"No."

"Oh my goodness leave. You have nothing to do here. But if you want to stay here so badly then jump into the ring and show then your moves."

"I'm not leaving. I will be taking you with me. And I will be letting your parents know."

Aurora's face twitched. The one thing she wanted to avoid. Her mother would probably have a heart attack if she told her. But, Aurora was their daughter and they have to believe her over anyone else right?

"Listen, pretty boy, all I have to do is cry a few tears, maybe pull the lip quiver out and they'll believe anything I say," she smirked at him. "Mommy, daddy, this bad man has been manipulating and humiliating me. He was always so mean and he would take my money whenever I went shopping. Get him out of here!"

Caden rolled his eyes at her childishness. "I'm sure that when I present them with evidence then they'll think twice about believing you."

"What evidence? You're not recording this conversation or something?"

He shook his head. "No, but I can show them your body. How banged up it is. And that there are old scars on them."

Aurors paused and looked down at her arms. She guessed it was very obvious. She gave Caden a weak glance. "I was in... an abusive relationship a while ago."

His face fell and he backed away a little bit. "Oh, Oh. I'm sorry."

Aurora snerked and gave him a smirk. "And that's how they believe anything I say."

It took him a moment to realize what she had done. And looked at her with pure disgust. She actually kind of felt bad. Aurora knew it was wrong to joke about abuse and yet she did it anyway.

"Ok, I'm sorry. That was too far," she said shamefully.

He still looked at her with scorn and she looked at her bag and continued to rummage through her things.

"You should leave," she said once again.

He didn't answer her and Aurora sighed. She didn't want it to come to this but there were bigger things at stake than her fighting here.

"Security! Security! There someone in the locker room that not supposed to be here!"

Her voice bounced through the hallway and it was able to reach the security guards in the parking garage. Caden rushed towards her and covered her mouth.

"Shut up! You can't just get rid of me! You're coming too."

Aurora licked his hand and he pulled back as if he was burned.

"What the fuck!" he exclaimed and rubbed his palm against his pants.

"Security!" she shouted again and moved away from him.

He tried to grab her but she dodged him. He kept on swiping at her and she would evade him. Soon enough there were rapid footsteps and two security guards entered the locker room.

"Thank goodness. He's harassing me." Aurora moved away from Caden and the security guards moved quickly and grabbed him.

"Hey! Let me go! I'm supposed to be responsible for her!"

They were bigger than Caden and so they took him out of the room even though he struggled. She felt embarrassed for him and cringed as she saw him flail uselessly.

Once his noise was far enough. She wiped herself down with wipes and sprayed some light perfume so hopefully, the sweat smell will be masked. Aurora changed into some light clothes, a sweater, and some shorts before grabbing her duffel and leaving the locker room.

While she was doing research she came across the fact that each member had to get a tattoo of the group's symbol. This note was dated 2006 so she was not sure if they still did it. But it also said that it was to be hidden so even if it was recent she would not be able to look for it without coming off as weird so her next best option was to ask Chelly.

She found him standing behind the crowd. He had a clipboard in his hand with some papers, a pen and there was money attached to it. He would glance up at the current fight and then write something down.

"Hey, Chelly," she said and he looked up at her.

He gave her a surprised look. "Hey kid, I thought you left already. That guy didn't give you too much trouble did he?"

"No, no. Just some weirdo."

"So what's up. Want to fight again tonight?"

"Actually I need your help with something." she lowered her voice and got closer to him. "You know everybody and all their information. Do you know if there are people from the Delta group here?"

He looked taken back. "I can't reveal anything like that kid. That's personal information. I don't reveal yours and I don't reveal theirs."

Since he said that it meant that there actually were people from Delta here. If there weren't she would have just told her no. He was a very blunt person.

"Come on. You must know what's been going on recently. We haven't done anything to them and they're just coming at us. Can't you just tell me?"

"This is a safe zone kid. No wars, no conflicts. Just good ol' fighting. I don't want you starting anything and getting banned."

"I don't want to stir up any trouble. I just want to find out something. Promise. When have I ever caused any conflict outside of the ring."

"I can't..." he said.

"I'll give you back all of my earnings today. Come one, Chelly, please. I promise I won't do anything bad."

And with that, he gave up the two who were a part of Delta. A boy and a girl. They were lounging out of the crowd looking over at the fight occasionally as they smoked. Aurora hung back next to a beam as she watched them. After a while, the girl nodded to the boy and they both walked to the exit.

Aurora kept her distance and followed them. They walked for a couple of blocks before going into an eight-story building. There was a sign at the front that read: 'Hibiscus Insurance'

It was a health insurance company that Aurora recognized. They had multiple branches around the city. She Saw the immense amount of security and how there were little lights on in the building. Which probably meant that this was it. It was a good hiding place. The group either partnered with the company, created it, or threatened them. Whichever one it was, it worked.

Aurora went into the building next to it. I was about fifteen stories and she would have a good view of it from that height. Once she was on the top she could see that there were a lot of cameras and security guards on the roof as well. The top of the building where Aurora stood was dark so that aided in her snooping.

There was a parking lot behind the building, lit with lamps and she could see big containers of trucks. Those were obviously for transporting something in large quantities. And what would a health insurance company transport in a large quantity?

"There are probably floors below as well, which is where all of the real things happen. So they have a real health insurance company keeping them covered and all the shady things happen below ground," she murmured to herself.

Before she left she took a mental note of the number of guards there were. Praying that Caden had not spilled anything to her parents she took a shower in her apartment and went back home. But not before noting all of her finding there.
