The wolves had taken their stands outside the palace shooting arrows everywhere. Belena needed to run to Godric for safety as he had promised to protect her. She took off with her child out of the storage room.Everyone had begun to run helter-skelter after being alerted about the danger. Belena ran across the palace halls into King Godric's room and shut the door.
"The war!" She panted, holding her chest. "It had begun." Her eyes darted around the room to see the prying gaze on her. "I..I am sorry, for barging in Your Highness" she buried her head.
"Belena. Queen's maid?" The man standing beside the King said. Belena looked up at him, he was the Queen's royal guard. His eyes pierced into hers in shock. "How did you get into the palace?" He took a defensive stance, protecting the King.
"The war has started." She said. "The wolves are attacking. Please protect my child" she turned to Godric, fell on her knees wanting to move closer to him but was stopped by the guard.
"Stay away from the King" Drew, the royal guard said.
"Godric..." Belena only focused on the King. "Tell me where to go, nothing must happen to our child" Her eyes were soaked in tears. For a moment, she feared he would break his promise and neglect her during this war.
King Godric sighed heavily. "Drew." He called. When Drew faced him, he ordered. "Make a space for her in the Queen's carriage. Take them far away and ensure their safety."
"Yes, Your Majesty!" Drew responded. He looked at Belena, but unable to question further, raised her and took her out of the room.
Belena followed Drew quietly, she was terrified at Godric's idea of putting her in the Queen's carriage, but she would do anything to keep her child alive.
"Our child?" Drew mentioned as they walked. "Is that the King's child you hold?"
She refused to respond. Drew stopped walking and his stony glare fixed on Belena. He assessed her for a brief moment and then looked at her child. "You were the Queen's favorite maid. Yet, you sleep with her husband?"
"You do not understand," Belena said.
"Make me." He spat, placing a sword on her neck. She gasped, but remained still. "You left the palace months ago, why are you back?"
"The King and I..." The rest of the words gulped down her throat, she couldn't make sense of what was about to come out of her mouth.
Drew's brows furrowed as he hissed and continued walking until they got to the Queen's room. "I shall speak to the Queen about the King's order," he said. "Wait here."
Belena waited as ordered while Drew went into Queen Daphne's room. The Queen who was getting ready to be picked by Drew, smiled when she saw him. "We have to hurry, I hear the wolves are raiding the palace."
"We would leave now, Your Highness," Drew said with a bow. Then he looked at Daphne with a fallen countenance. "Remember Belena?" He asked.
"Yes," she responded. "My maid, who was pregnant and ran off? What is wrong?"
"She is here."
"At this critical moment? Why?"
"She is with her child"
"Her child?" Daphne gasped, and a smile crossed her lips before it slowly disappeared. "What a blessing. Lucky her." She muttered.
"Your Majesty. The King asked me to make a space for her in your carriage..." Drew said with disgust. "And ensure you both get to safety."
"The King said that?" Daphne's brows arched. "That is...so nice of him?"
"You do not get it, Queen Daphne" Drew snapped at her. She was surprised at his outbursts, but she knew Drew was wise and had a reason for each of his emotions. "It's King Godric's child that Belena carries." He announced. "He was sleeping with her under your roof, Your Majesty."
Daphne's eyes dilated. "No." She chuckled. "What is the nonsense that you speak?" She walked closer to Drew, her eyelashes fluttering and her fingers playing with her dress. "Repeat your words."
"Belena and the King had an affair, and they have a child together. It is his first child and you know where that places you."
Daphne's legs lost balance and Drew caught her when she staggered. Her breathing fastened and her fingers began to shake. Her husband had cheated on her with her maid because she was childless?
Drew held the Queen together by the shoulder. "Say the word, and it is done" he gritted his teeth.
The Queen's eyes darkened, the betrayal from her husband who had promised never to touch any woman, shook her. "Kill her." Daphne spat, her teeth jittering in anger and her face reddening. "Kill her and her child!" She groaned.
"As you wish, My Queen," Drew responded. "I shall see to it soon, take yourself to the carriage and leave."
Daphne nodded, sitting on a chair and holding her legs to control her anger. Was it the child's cry she had heard yesterday? How long had Belena been in the palace with her child?
Drew closed the door and met Belena waiting. "We can leave," he told her.
Belena exhaled, she had feared the Queen would disagree to letting her stay in the carriage with them, but she was extremely glad that an opportunity was given to her.
As they walked out of the palace taking paths where the wolves had not raided, Belena thought to ask. "Where is the Queen?"
"She will join us shortly." He simply said.
They kept walking into the forest, Belena was looking around at the unfamiliar paths. But she still believed the carriage was somewhere close and it was only far enough so the wolves could barely locate them.
"We are here," Drew said, stopping and turning to look at her.
Her eyes scanned the quiet, ominous forest. "Where is the carriage," she asked.
"It is indeed bold of you to think that you have a place beside the King in this palace" Drew uttered, taking his bow and drawing out an arrow that pointed directly at Belena.

4.All the wolves who were of age to fight gathered in front of Ragnar's palace. "The humans have betrayed us. They have killed some of us. They want a war and we would give them that. Spare no one, we are barraging the palace first.""Yes, Alpha!" The wolves chorused."Let us show them that our kindness was a privilege. They have silver, but we have our inner beast. Unleash your wolf on whoever crosses your path""Yes, Alpha!" They chorused.Ragnar went back into the house to find his wife. He saw her picking an arrow from its case. "What are you doing?""Fighting with you." She said, without looking at him, and continued to store more arrows in the quiver around her waist."Nonsense!" Ragnar spat, going to her and removing all of the arrows with her. "Did you forget? Today is the birth date. You would not fight in this condition""I cannot just watch. I have to protect the palace while you're gone. I have to protect the other women who have stayed back…""It's not your place to do
3. THE WOLVES"Thank you, my Alpha" Philipa took a bow in front of her spouse, her very own Ragnar, the King of the Wolves. "I cannot explain the delight that is bubbling in me" She walked to his bed.Alpha Ragnar's smile spread to his cheeks as Philipa approached him. He felt the same bubbling when she was near him. She came close to him and he stood up and acknowledged her. "All I do, my Queen is my expression of love for you.""No. This…this is too much" Phillipa responded. "There has been a feast outside the palace for the past three days…""And it would continue until you birth this bundle of joy" Alpha Ragnar rubbed Philipa's belly which was as big as a ripe melon. "Tomorrow is your birth date and when that child comes, the whole town will not get enough of my celebration" he laughed and Philipa joined him. "I will be sending the invitation to all humans too, tonight. They have to celebrate with us"Philipa's smile fell when he said that and Ragnar noticed. "The humans?" She ask
2.He felt his body hair prickling as he stared at the child she was holding out. It was the first of its kind since his reign as a King. He looked at Belena again. "My child?" He asked and she nodded."No man has touched me except you, Your Highness" she cried. King Godric was reaching his hand out to the infant to carry. "She is your child." Belena sobbed."It's a female child?" He asked. Belena was disappointed to see that the hand waiting to carry her withdrew back to his pocket."Please hold her" she begged him, her teeth jittering. Godric walked past her to his shelf and went to take his ornate pipe where he smoked tobacco in, and puffed the fume toward her. "Why are you here, Belena?" He asked. "Where is my male child?""You said you didn't mind what type of child." While trying her best not to make her voice shake, it only worsened. "You said you loved me either way.""I did." He smiled. "But you left.""Because…because the Queen found out I was pregnant and I… could…not expl
1. THE HUMANS "Push!" Her mother screamed at her. "If you don't push this baby out now, I am leaving you alone to this" It was storming outside and the thunder terrified Belena as she lay on a wool mattress, legs spread, knees buckled and the wooden bed frame creaking to every move she made.Belena felt like she was being ripped apart. She felt like a stray cat was clawing her intestines to find food. "Mother, please. Easy on me." She cried. The windows in the room opened and closed due to the wind effect and the roof rattled like it was about to pull off. "Almost. Keep on pushing" the mother shouted, trying to talk over the noise of the rain."Mother…" Belena cried, tears pouring out of her eyes in a triple stream. Yet, she continued pushing, she wanted to bear this child. "I see the head!" Her mother said. "Gently now, Bel, don't push much." She gently guided the head out carefully and the rest of the baby's body followed. As the mother held the newborn, she took a clean clo
