CHAPTER 17 - Breakfast by the Bay

Amarah made sure that she had securely locked the door to her apartment before heading towards the stairs to go down, early the following day. She looked towards Matt’s apartment unit and silently guessed that he must still be asleep, considering he had taken a double shift since Jacklyn had not come back yet.

She went down the stairs carefully and pushed the glass door open, stepping out into the sidewalk and looked around her surroundings, where her neighbors are also starting on their day.

“Good morning, Mr. Monroe!” She greeted with a wave at their cranky-old neighbor, Monroe Williams, who lives right across the street from their building, getting his paper from the mail. “It’s nice to see you here again!”

“Get on with your day, lady,” Monroe grumbled, slamming his mailbox shut.
