Odessa POV

I traced my fingers along my lips. What had he done?

I felt it deep in my gut like a small knife cutting along my belly.

Maybe it was the nurse we encountered on his first night at the hospital. She realised I was gone and threw herself on Maverick.

“Next!” The woman at the post office called.

I almost forgot I was at the post office, about to mail a letter that could alter my life forever.

The letter frowned at the envelope I gave her.

“Nassgar?” She questioned.

Heat rushed to my cheeks. “I’ve received letters from there before. I don’t have a return address. Just a name.”

“That’s their problem. Pay for a stamp over there.”

I exhaled with relief. I was glad she didn’t give me a hard time. Now I had to wait to hear back from Ximena. I hoped she got the letter back.

Ryder’s offer to take a relatedness test kept swirling in my mind. I had five potential fathers, and the fishing town mom travelled to was less than five hours from here. What were the odds they ended up in Dacia

Odessa POV“I’d like to speak to both of you anyway,” Rune said.I snuggled closer to my mate. There was no reason to hide anymore.“What do you want to talk about?” I asked, stepping in front of my mate.“Well, Mav, I’m sorry about the way I acted. We’ve been friends for so long. We know each other better than anyone.”That was another dig at me, but I let her continue talking.“You’re my best friend and I don’t want to lose you. A little part of you is better than no part.”Maverick rubbed my shoulders. “I don’t either. You’ve got to get along with Odessa. She’s part of my life now.”“I’m not going anywhere,” I added.Rune’s eyes flickered to me. I could tell she was dying to roll her eyes.“Of course. There’s no reason you and I shouldn’t be friends. There’s so much embarrassing stuff I could tell you about Maverick.”Maverick chuckled. “Whoa, let’s not get carried away.”“I’ll only tell her a few stories,” she winked.I’m not dumb enough to believe she won’t stop trying to get Mav

  • The Quarterback's Omega Mate   Chapter 49

Odessa POVThe storm was gone, but winter was here for a while. I sat on the sidelines beside the other physios. They were too busy talking about their mothers-in-law while I was lost, spotting Maverick raise his thighs as he walked. It was all hands on deck with the medical staff because the team had been out for a while. From time to time, Maverick would catch my eye and smirk. My insides did little backflips when he did.Word about Alpha Maverick finding his mate had spread, and that she was an omega too. Evyn hadn’t stopped texting me all morning about how people were talking about the Maverick and me.Everything at the stadium had been quiet. People here respected Maverick too much to whisper things about him in his face.“Let’s see your passes,” Coach yelled. “Maverick take the lead.”Maverick grabbed the ball and backed up a few steps.“I’m going to random,” he shouted.Maverick scanned the group of players before hurling the ball forward. The ball flew across the field, over p

Odessa POVSaying Alpha Seth looked furious was an understatement. If steam could blow out of his ears and pop open his head, it would. He was as red as a tomato, and the veins in his neck and head were sticking out.“EVERYONE OUT!” He ordered.I flinched, but Maverick was there to hold me.The people who just bowed to us scurried out of the kitchen like rats. My heart hammered against my chest.“You lied to me,” Seth spat.He stepped forward. What do we do? He knows now, and he’s not going to allow us to be together.“I asked her not to say anything. It doesn’t matter anymore. She’s my fated mate. She’s the reason I skipped out on the ball.”Alpha Seth stared at me as if he were seeing me for the first time, and it didn’t make any sense.“Seth,” Maverick’s mom stumbled into the kitchen. She closed the kitchen

Maverick POVOdessa and I left the hospital building in my rented vehicle. My car was still being fixed. The results will be out in seven days. The results would show us how Ryder and Odessa might be related. While I waited for Ryder and Odessa to give their samples, I got a text from my uncle. He wanted me at the pack house tonight for a dinner meeting with Barnette.I wasn’t positive what it meant, but I was certain Seth needed money. Normally, I wouldn’t attend the meeting, but I wanted to find out what Seth was up to this time.“My uncle invited me over for dinner. Barnette’s coming over too,” I confessed.“Are you going? I think you should lie low for a while. You were just attacked.”I grinned. “Don’t worry about me, babe.”“Maverick, you don’t know how I felt when I saw you lying in that hospital. I love you, and the idea of losing you scares me. The idea of you kissing someone else breaks me.” Her voice broke on her last sentence.I rubbed her thigh. Rune messed things up.“I’

  • The Quarterback's Omega Mate   Chapter 45

Maverick POV“Where’s Gage?” I asked.Storm brought me a change of clothes. I had no choice but to give him my new home address. My car wouldn’t start, so I couldn’t drive home. Storm stopped being nice to me and demanded that I give him the address.“He says he’s not feeling well. I don’t blame him. He spent the blizzard alone,” he laughed, but faked a cough because his sister was in the room.Sienna clenched her teeth and glared at him, but didn’t respond.“I need to go home,” Odessa said, gathering her bag.“What? I thought we were leaving together?” I asked, panicking. We just got back together!“I’ve got things to clear up. I’ll meet you at your place.”“What things?”She bit her bottom lip and gave me those pouty eyes I couldn’t refuse.“Can’t we talk about it later?” She whispered. She hugged me and buried her face in my chest. Was this supposed to make me melt? Yeah, it worked.I kissed her forehead. “Call me.”“Of course.” Her eyes darted to the others in the room. What were
