CHAPTER 34: TAKING MEASURES

Like they say, when talking about anything, the last one is what usually matters.

That was that night’s business. To dissect the Aynor pack and get a handle on how they work.

Supernatural have weaknesses and their strengths.

Just like how witches at the end of the day are just mortals with limited lifespan and carry the weakness of humans. Without their magic and spells, they can be killed.

Vampires are afraid of sunlight, fire, holy symbols, garlic and other strong herbs. Just like most supernatural, they can’t withstand silver, decapitation and anything that has something to do with purity (running across from water and silver.)

As for werewolves its silver, wolfsbane, magic weapons, vampire attacks and phases of the moon.

All those weaknesses, if attacked, the supernatural can actually go down but then imagine such weaknesses being strengthened by the individual strengths of each supernatural kind. Then such kind of pack, wouldn’t it be powerful?

What a witch might lack, a werewolf or vampire will supplement and vice versa.

Such a pack was very dangerous to them and they needed to take drastic measures as soon as possible.

Hilary didn’t like the sound of that at all. Without even meeting the Aynor pack’s Alpha. He already hated it.

He found the Alpha a weakling and a coward. Why not trust in your own species but dare contaminate the werewolf culture with some bloodsucking bats and those witches? He just couldn’t get it but that might be their breakthrough as well.

“First, we need to find out more about the pack. Know their population and how many of them can actually fight.

If possible, find a way to weaken them before the Werempics start. The Alpha doesn’t have a mate yet and what better way to deal with him than finding him a partner? Even if he doesn’t find his mate, we can still try to push someone to him.

Of course, if we can’t do that ourselves, it wouldn’t hurt to collaborate with others. After all, I doubt that this threat is only on us ……” Hilary started sharing his strategies after thinking about it for a while.

When it comes to tactics, using a woman always works. if the Alpha was into men, there wasn’t a shortage of them at all. that could be done as well.

Unconsciously he started using the tactics that worked very well on him and the more he spoke, the more determined some of the elders became.

Without him knowing, Hilary was already digging his own grave. By the time he realizes, it would be too late.

After the long meeting, everyone disperses and Hilary rushed to the pack house where he cuddled with Veda whom he was feeling sorry for. He had neglected her too much after the pain of losing Elowyn took over him.

Unbeknownst to him, in a certain house, six elders who had just left the meeting were all seated together with dejected expressions on their faces.

“How did you see it?”

“Tche! I thought that with time he will become better but he is only becoming a degenerate.”

“We shouldn’t have let him reunite with the Luna. Now look what he has become?”

“If we had known he would be like this, perhaps letting that useless human remain in the pack would be better!”

The female elder clicked her tongue as she looked at the other elders and retorted, “what is not meant to be is not meant to be. Don’t talk about the past but the future.”

“Yes, yes. We hear you. So, what do you propose?”

When that was asked, there was a collective sigh from everyone. The worry and exhaustion their faces were no joke.

“Without wasting too much time. Guys where do you see us going, really?”

“What do you mean?”

“We are elders but this ship seems to be sinking. I don’t want to sound pessimistic but ever since he took over, we have been getting worse. It was much better when the deceased leader was still ruling,” the female elder ruthlessly laid out a truth that everyone pretended not to see all day long for ten years now.

Hearing the boldness of the female elder, the other elders sighed tiredly not disputing to that at all.

“Even if we want to change anything, who will lead?”

“Perhaps we should wait until the Luna gives birth!”

The female elder let out a snort upon hearing that and firmly rejected, “I am a woman and I don’t have any ill intentions towards women like me but the Luna’s children! Hah, I will swear with the name of the Moon Goddess that whatever cubs she is carrying there, definitely don’t belong to the Alpha!” and swore solemnly with a firm gaze which made the other elders shaken and look at her in panic.

“Elder Sophia! Mind your words!”

But elder Sophia simply snorted and retorted, “the Luna vanished over three years ago after conforming that she was Alpha Hilary’s mate. No one knew where she was until months ago and she happen to come very timely when the Alpha was about to wed that useless human. I have always found everything odd; you know. They got back together and baam, she got pregnant. Even that human took three good years before she got pregnant. I would rather believe that Elowyn conceived for our Alpha than the current Luna.”

Boom!

There was an explosion in everyone’s mind when that was said.

For most men, they barely don’t focus much on female matters. So suddenly hearing such news made them complexly shaken to the core.

“Are you saying that the human was pregnant?”

Elder Sophia nodded her head with a pitiful expression recalling how that human ended.

“Yes. I was in the clinic the day the news was found. She was so happy, and in order to surprise the Alpha, she wanted to tell him after the wedding. Who knew that it was already too late? Tsk, tsk, tsk.”

“Then …. If you knew, why didn’t you stop whatever happened? Having more cubs at hand would have been helpful at this moment!” another elder asked angrily, as he looked at Elder Sophia with disappointment.

Which elder didn’t know how difficult it was for the Jacobs men (Hilary’s family) to conceive?
