Chapter Thirty-Five

Rae waited for Keegan to return and eventually, he did.

She was anxious. She waited for him to say something to her as soon as he entered the caravan but he looked at her in a manner that suggested that he didn't know what to say either. She felt discouraged by his silence but her answer didn't change when she asked herself what she would do. It was the second fastest decision that she had ever made in all her life and like the first one, which was leaving her pack and everything she knew behind, she didn't give it too much thought.

Keegan leaned against the table and folded his arms. She sat anxiously in bed, hoping that he would say something to break the tense silence. He looked at her uncertainly and then looked away. She held her breath and waited for the moment that he would mention the kiss and what they had done.

When he opened his mouth to speak, though, it was the opposite of what she expected. "Lunch will be served a little later. The hunting took longer than expected."
