~Derick Mondragon pov~
I was sitting at my desk, going over some paperwork, when my phone rang. I picked it up, not expecting anything out of the ordinary."Hello?" I answered."It's Lucas," a voice on the other end said, urgent and tense. "We're under attack."My heart dropped. Lucas was my second-in-command, and if he was calling me with news like this, it is serious. "Who's attacking us?" I asked."The Night Walkers," Lucas said, and I could hear the anger in his voice. "You know they've been our biggest rivals for years. They caught us off guard, but we managed to fight them off, we need you here right now."I stood up from my desk, adrenaline pumping through my veins. "I'm on my way," I said, and hung up the phone.I dropped by Mia's desk, my closest confidant, and asked her to follow me right now because the pack house is under attack. "Let's go," I said, and we rushed out of the building. As we drove to the pack's house, my mind was racing. The Night Walkers were known for their viciousness and ruthlessness, and the fact that they had attacked us meant that they were escalating the situation. When we arrived, I saw my pack members scattered around, some with wounds and others in a state of shock. "What happened?" I demanded, surveying the scene.Lucas stepped forward, looking grim. "We were taken by surprise. They came in fast and hard, but we managed to fight them off. I think I have seen one of them at your company before."I felt a wave of anger wash over me. I had always prided myself on being a good judge of character, but if someone had infiltrated our pack like this, it meant that I had failed. "Who is it?" I demanded."I don't know yet, he managed to escape from me that day" Lucas said, shaking his head. "We're still investigating. But we'll find out."I nodded, feeling the weight of my responsibility as pack leader heavy on my shoulders. "We need to stay alert," I said. "This isn't over yet."As the night wore on, we tended to the wounded and fortified our defenses. I knew that the Night Walkers wouldn't give up so easily. We were in for a fight. But I was determined to protect my pack at all costs. And if that meant facing off against our biggest rivals, so be it. We will not be defeated. I was helping Lukas tend to the wounds of our pack members when Mia walked up to me, looking troubled."What's wrong?" I asked, noticing the worry etched on her face."I just found out something," she said, lowering her voice. "It's about the Night Walkers."I leaned in, curious. "What is it?""I learnt that their Alpha, Blake, is the mate of Sophia," she said, referring to one who had been rejected by her mate.I frowned, trying to process what she was saying. "Sophia? Are you sure?"Mia nodded. "That's what I heard. And if it's true, then she could be the one who fed them information about our pack. Maybe she's been working with them all along."I felt a surge of anger rise up in me. If Sophia had betrayed us, it was a huge blow to our pack. "We need to find out for sure," I said, determined to get to the bottom of this.Just then, Lukas called out to us. "Hey, guys, we need your help over here."Mia and I rushed over to where he was tending to a particularly bad wound. We worked together, focusing on the task at hand, but the news about Sophia and the Night Walkers continued to weigh heavily on my mind.I know Sophia was rejected, but I don't know who her mate was. After we finished with the wounded, I pulled Lucas aside. "We need to investigate this further," I said, filling him in on what Mia had told me.Lucas looked at me with a mix of surprise and disappointment. "You hired a Night Walker pack member?" he asked, clearly taken aback.I nodded, feeling a twinge of guilt. "She needed a job, and she seemed qualified. I didn't know she was from their pack at the time. My secretary only brought me her document to sign. I never knew who she was at first."Lucas shook his head, but I could see the respect he had for me as his Alpha preventing him from saying anything further. "We'll have to investigate her involvement with the Night Walkers," he said, his tone serious. "We can't take any chances."I agreed, feeling a sense of responsibility for not being more thorough in my hiring process. "Let's gather some intel," I said, determination in my voice. "We'll get to the bottom of this."Lucas nodded, and we began to make plans for investigating Sophia's involvement with the Night Walkers. We need to be careful, but we can't let this betrayal go unpunished. But I knew that as long as we stuck together and remained vigilant, we could overcome any obstacle. Lucas placed a call and summoned some of our strongest allies from the extended pack. Jacob from the Black family, Ivy from the Seawater family, and Seth from the Vley family all arrived promptly. I thanked them for coming and explained the situation to them, asking them to keep an eye on our pack members and to let me know immediately if anything happened."We won't let anything happen to the pack members, Alpha," Jacob said, his voice low and reassuring.I nodded, feeling grateful for their support. "Thank you, all of you. We need to protect our pack at all costs."As they set up a perimeter around our pack members, I turned to Mia. "Let's go back to the company. We need to find out if Sophia is involved with the Night Walkers."Mia nodded, her expression determined. "Let's go."As we were driving back to the company, the traffic light stopped us and we waited for it to turn green. Suddenly, my eyes widened as I saw a car drive by, and I recognized the driver as Alpha Blake from the Night Walker pack, our biggest rival."What is he doing here in Canada?" I wondered out loud, feeling a sense of unease.Mia's expression mirrored my own. "We have to follow him. We need to find out what he's up to."I didn't waste a second and started to chase after Alpha Blake's car. But as we took turns and sped through the streets, I lost track of him, and I realized that he had gotten away.Feeling frustrated, I pulled over to the side of the road and tried to catch my breath. "What could he be doing here?" I wondered, feeling a sense of unease. Then the memory of the day, I cross paths with Alpha Blake at the werewolves meeting, flashed to my mind. Alpha Blake, nearly fought with me that day with he's rogues but, he was called to order by other Alpha's, and he told me that day that. "Watch your back!" I snapped out of the thought, as Mia put a comforting hand on my shoulder. "We'll find out why he's here in Canada," she said, her voice reassuring.I nodded, feeling a renewed sense of determination. We couldn't let the Night Walkers get away with attacking our pack, and we needed to find out what their next move was.As we drove back to the company, I couldn't help but feel a sense of urgency. We needed to find out if Sophia was involved with the Night Walkers and if she had any information that could help us stop them.We were in for a long night, but we were prepared to do whatever it takes to protect our pack.~Sophia~"Tell me, did night walk pack sent you here rejected mate?" Derick asked, and stared at me with a stern look on his face, as if trying to find any hint of a lie in my eyes. I shifted uncomfortably under his gaze, feeling like a criminal being interrogated. Mia stood behind him, a smug look on her face, clearly enjoying my discomfort."I don't know what you're talking about, Derick," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "I wasn't sent here by anyone to spy on the company."Derick didn't look convinced. "Then why are you working for your biggest rival pack?" he asked. "Why did you choose to come here, of all places?"I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. "I came here because I needed a job, and this was the only one I could find. I didn't know I was coming to work in a company owned by my pack enemy."Derick narrowed his eyes at me, as if weighing my words. "And why should I believe you?" he asked.I felt a knot forming in my stomach. How could I prove to him that
~Sophia~The next day, I woke up early, got dressed and prepared myself for work. As I locked my door and started walking towards the exist, I suddenly caught a familiar scent. It was the scent of a werewolf, and it was coming from the room next to mine.My heart started pounding as I realized who it might be. It couldn't be...could it? I knocked on the door with a sense of dread, and someone opened the door.It was my stepsister, Leah, stood there looking at me with a cold expression. "What do you want?" she asked, clearly not pleased to see me."What are you doing here?" I demanded, my anger started rising. "This is my place." Leah said and rolled her eyeballs. "Meaning, I live here now," she added, crossing her arms. "Do you have a problem with that?"I felt my jaw drop as I struggled to contain my emotions. This was the last thing I expected. "Why would you move here?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly."It's none of your business," Leah spat back, before slamming the door shut
~Derick Mondragon~I felt my anger boiling up as Mia started to yell at me, accusing me of not taking action against Alpha Blake. "Mia, calm down," I said, trying to keep my voice level. But she continued to shout, and I felt a surge of frustration. Mia refused to be quiet as she continue that, "Why did you let him go? He came here to attack us, and you just let him leave! We had the chance to get rid of him!"I felt my control slipping as she continued to yell at me. "Stop yelling at me, Mia! I'm still the Alpha here, and I deserve some respect!"Mia stopped yelling and looked at me. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice softening. "I just...I don't understand why you didn't fight him. We can't let the Night Walkers get away with this.""I know, and I won't let them get away with it," I said, my voice firm. "But we need to be smart about it. We can't just attack without a plan. We need to gather information and find out what their next move is."Mia nodded, her expression serious. "You're
~ Sophia Pov~ I walked towards my room, feeling a sense of relief wash over me as I finally made it home after a long day at work, and the humiliation from Derick. But as I approached my door, I saw Leah standing at the entrance of my room, looking absolutely furious. Her werewolf fang fingers were popping out, and I could tell that she was on the brink of losing control."Leah, what is the meaning of this?" I asked cautiously, not wanting to provoke her further."I heard that you met with my husband, Alpha Blake, today," Leah said through gritted teeth.I was taken aback, then smile. But how did Leah know that I met with Blake today, besides it wasn't intentional. I don't even know why Blake show up at my working place, and there was never a romantic or inappropriate about our meeting."I did meet with Blake but, it was nothing like whatever you're thinking Leah," I said, trying to keep my tone even. "I don't believe that lie, Sophia! You still want him don't you?" Leah expression
~Sophia~I was mopping the floor the next day at the company, as my mind kept drifting back to the mysterious bouquet of black roses that had appeared on my doorstep last night. I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over me since then.Just then, Mia and Jessica walked into the company, laughing and joking with each other. Mia had a piece of black rose in her hand, and my heart sank immediately I noticed. It was clear that she was the one who had sent me those flowers.I felt a mix of relief and anger wash over me. On one hand, it was good to know that the Black Bird Wolves weren't after me. But on the other hand, I couldn't believe that Mia would play such a cruel trick on me. I quickly finished up my work and headed to the restroom to talk to Miranda. When I told her what I saw, Miranda was shocked just as I am. "Why would Mia do something like that?" she asked."I don't know," I said, feeling frustrated. "But I know for sure that she was the one who sent it. She ha
~Sophia~Mia walked up to me, where I was standing and say. "No matter the position you occupied, you can never have value! Because you're rejected mate with no pack." She smirk and left.I felt a pang of hurt and anger as Mia's words sunk in. I knew that as a rejected mate, I was considered lower in status among the werewolves, but that didn't mean I had no value. I had worked hard to earn my position in the company and prove myself as a capable employee, and I refused to let anyone diminish my accomplishments.I took a deep breath and tried to shake off Mia's words. I reminded myself that I had Derick's support now and that was all that mattered. I was determined to make the most of my promotion and show the company what I was capable of.However, deep down, I knew that Mia's words would linger in my mind and affect me in some way. I couldn't help but feel a sense of insecurity and doubt about my place in the company. But I decided to push those feelings aside and focus on my new rol
~Eight years earlier~It was a warm summer evening, and Emilia was eagerly awaiting her 18th birthday. In her pack, every wolf's 18th birthday was a special occasion because it was the day they would finally turn into a wolf. Emilia had been looking forward to this day for years, but unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst day of her life. When it was time for Emilia's transformation, she tried with all her might, but nothing happened. She couldn't turn into a wolf like everyone else in her pack. Her mate, who was also her childhood friend, took one look at her and walked away. Emilia knew what that meant – she had been rejected. The Alpha of her pack was furious. In their pack, turning into a wolf on your 18th birthday was a tradition, and Emilia had broken it. According to the pack's rules, anyone who was rejected had to be banished. Emilia's family and friends were powerless to help her. They couldn't go against the Alpha's decision.Emilia was devastated. She had been banished
~Derick Mondragon Pov~I was driving down the winding road towards the pack house, enjoying the scenery and thinking about the pack meeting we were going to have later that day. Suddenly, my phone rang, and I picked it up without taking my eyes off the road."Mia? What's going on?" I asked."Alpha Derick, we're under attack by the black bird wolves rogue pack. They've killed several of our pack members, and they're still here," Mia's voice trembled with fear.My heart sank as I heard the news. The black bird wolves were notorious for their aggression and brutality. As the Alpha of my pack, it was my responsibility to protect my people."I'm on my way," I said, my voice firm and determined.I stepped on the gas pedal and increased my speed. The tires screeched as I turned onto the dirt road that led to the pack house. My mind raced as I thought about the best course of action. When I arrived at the pack house, the scene before me was devastating. Black roses were scattered everywhere, a
