Aria's POV
The only thought going through my head at that time was that I didn't want to be where I was.
It was night and it was obviously late but the men of Silverclaw Pack didn't give two shits about that. They were throwing some sort of celebration. For what? No idea. Alpha Gregory, who was the pack's leader, was as drunk as the rest of the men.
And he had brought me out to serve as some source of entertainment for them. I had never seen this type before. They were different, and I had an inkling that they wouldn't go easy on me.
That thought brought a nauseating feeling to the back of my throat.
I was surprised that after serving Lana, I'd still have to serve these men. Orphans really didn't have a place in the pack.
"Wine!" someone shouted.
I moved my feet and got a tray with a full jug.
"Hello, beautiful," the man drawled at me as I refilled his cup. I didn't meet his eyes.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you!"
I was forced to look at his very unattractive face.
"Whoosh," he said. "Who's this, Gregory? Gregory? Who is this?"
Alpha Gregory caught up. "Oh, just a little bit of entertainment."
I didn't know why he used that word when referring to me. Well, maybe it was because that was all I was to him. Ever since I found myself in the Silverclaw pack, I had been made to understand loyalty. I would serve these people for the rest of my life.
Without a mate.
I sighed.
Just as I turned to leave, the man placed his hand on my ass and got to his feet. His touch actually revolted me but I didn't dare shake his hand off. I could even lose mine in the process.
His breath was bad and he didn't care that he was so close to me.
"Hey, there's a nice place behind the trees where we can be alone. How about that?"
I did not comment.
His hand squeezed, and I could hear his breathing become intense. The man was putting himself in the mood.
"Hey, take your filthy hands off her, Gura," someone intervened. I thought I had been rescued until he added, "She is mine for the night."
"And what the hell would you know about sex? Just keep your mouth shut and let the experienced ones have at it," Gura said.
"Don't talk to me like that!"
Gura scoffed. "Or else what?"
I knew I should leave there. But Gura's hand was still on my ass. What would happen if I did? Definitely something not good.
Soon, some of the other men began to pick interest in our altercation. I watched their hungry eyes roam over my body and I knew the night would be a long one for me.
This was the sort of life I was used to in Silverclaw.
Someone approached from behind. He stood in front of me and raised the jug to refill his cup.
"I should pour that for you, sir," I offered.
He looked at me. "I can do that myself."
The moment our eyes met with each other, something changed. I had never felt it before but I had been waiting for it all my life.
Questions had been asked about how I would know, and I never did forget all I had been told.
Within, my wolf whispered the one word I had been waiting for, and that was for a long time. "Mate."
**
I could tell that he felt it too. Whoever, he was. How surprising that I would meet my mate in such circumstances?
"Are we...?"
I asked, trailing the last word. He dropped the jug. "I guess we are."
The men were still arguing about who was going to have me for the night. Gura became distracted and I used that opportunity to follow my mate. His hair was the color of gold.
"Then I think you should claim me," I told him. "Immediately."
He appeared very cool about the fact that he had just found out who his mate was. Inside, I was jumping for joy.
"Claim you?" he asked.
"Yes. That's the next thing. Isn't it? You claim your mate once you've found her."
He looked me over from head to toe. "And why would I want to claim you? Or someone like you?"
I noticed he had a cocky expression like he didn't really take things seriously.
"Is that a joke?"
"Telling me to claim you as my mate must be the joke. What are you? Some scarlet woman? A servant to Lana? Some piece of tool these men can use whenever they want?"
I felt the tears coming but I held them back. Not the time. "I know. But you can save me from all of that once you claim me."
"If," he said, in a manner of correction. "If I claim you. Know something? I actually thought my mate would be Lana." He smiled. "Because someone told me that my mate would be an heiress. Are you one? I don't think so. You have no worth."
The tears finally fell. "You.. you.. don't even know.. me yet."
He finished the drink in his cup. "Good, and I plan on keeping it that way. Hey! Lady here says she's ready for copulation!"
"Please, don't..." I begged.
"It was nice knowing you. Name's Jace, anyway. And I reject you... mate."
With that, he walked off.
I had just found my mate, which meant I had some worth. Yet, because of my circumstances, he rejected me and called the men to use me as they liked.
Around me, a fight ensued. Men going all out on each other, just to have a piece of me. When the victor finally had me, I wondered what violence he'd do to me.
So I moved.
"Stay the hell where you are!" someone shouted.
"I'm coming for you!" another yelled.
But they were just going for themselves.
I turned to run, but it was too late. Something or someone crashed into me, my head exploded with pain, and I lost it.
The moment I hit the ground, it was with a relaxing thought.
I hoped I actually died.
Aria’s POV“What brings you here, Alex?”I asked with a smirk, waving at Bianca and the secretary to leave. The way both of them were so focused on Alex showed that they just wanted to hear whatever he would say so that they would say it around.“For you to warn your stupid mate!”Whoa! I wasn't expecting that. By the way, if he and Jace were having a misunderstanding, they could sort it out without involving me. “And who says he is my mate?”“He clearly mentioned that you are his woman the day you visited the city, Aria. That aside, tell him to stay away from me and my family. The fact that he is now the supreme Alpha doesn't mean he can walk over us!”It was so surprising that Alex would leave the city which was almost four hours away, to come to the Bloodmoon pack just to tell me to warn his cousin? Amazing.“What did Jace do to you and your family?”I was so curious to find out whether it was something different from what people were saying on the internet. “Last night, he sent
Aria’s POV My heart leapt and my eyes snapped wide in shock. “Come on. What will the Alpha be doing here dressed like a hobo?”They were whispering to each other but their voices were audible for me to hear. What if that wasn't me? Then they would have ended up fighting with a stranger. “Let’s hurry up.”Bianca said anxiously.“I hope she didn't hear what we had discussed because if she does, we are doomed. You know how words fly in this pack like a plague…”The rest of Nina’s words vanished as they approached the entrance door. I sighed in relief, patting my chest for not being caught. Those girls were idiots, if they'd stayed there for long, I would have decided to let them know it was me. A few minutes later, a waitress came again but before she could tap my shoulder again, I turned around.“Those ladies are regulars here and I can tell you, they are up to no good.”She sighed, shaking her head. She looked like she knew something about them.“Oh…you mean them?”I pointed at th
Aria’s POVI didn't hear that wrong, did I? Kael definitely said I can't trust Bianca. Why? If he was also suspecting her, why keep her as his assistant? Unless he was pulling my leg. “She has no family members…”He paused, looking at me.“So she has nothing to lose.” So if I shouldn't trust her, why did he still have her working in his company? And not just an ordinary position but his assistant? Was he keeping her so close to himself to keep an eye on her? I was confused yet Kael didn't look like he would give me any deep explanation for that. “Then fire her.”“I can't.”He said, his brows raised. “What if she is a bad person? You said I shouldn't trust her.”Kael didn't say another word; he only waved his hand and sat in front of the mirror. Since I couldn't sit there wasting time, as he wouldn't answer me again, I got up and left the room.Since I had already gotten the address of where they would meet, I went to bed wishing tomorrow would come like a blink of an eye. The n
Aria's POVKyra didn't even look regretful of what she had said nor did she look scared. She stood there in full confidence, glaring at Bianca. “Why did you say that?”I asked Kyra after waving to Bianca to go back to her seat. “Because I have a feeling that she is a bad one and is planning evil for you.”“Are you out of your mind?”I snapped at her, shutting her up.“I didn't call any of you here to insult one another, I only called you here because you are my new assistant, Kyra.” I wasn't taking sides but that was too far. If Bianca were a bad person, Kael wouldn't have employed her as his personal assistant. “I apologize, Alpha Aria, but…”“You can go. I think Bianca and I will round this up alone.”I sent her out and turned to Bianca who was still angry.“Ignore her.”She nodded, inhaling and exhaling deeply.“She doesn't know what she is saying, Alpha Aria, please do not involve her in this again.”Bianca wasn't in a position to tell me who to involve in my business or what
Aria’s POVThat morning came with a shock that nearly cost me my breath. When Jace told me that he was going to reclaim his position, I thought he was joking. I never knew he was serious about it or capable of reclaiming it. His uncle was a dangerous person and rumors had it that he was planning to make his son the heir to the throne. What amused me was Jace ascending the throne the next day after his cousin was killed in an attack. Anyways, my curiosity didn't last for long because as soon as I logged into the media, everyone was talking about the incident. They said the Supreme Alpha, Jace’s uncle, sent thugs to take Jace’s life but they ended up taking his daughter’s life. I didn't need to be told that the daughter who sacrificed her life for Jace was the same lady the little lady was talking about the day I visited. Her obsession with Jace made her sacrifice her life for him? That was stupid. That was something I would never do for love. Everyone has a dream to fulfill and
Jace’s POVGasps echoed in the air from the crowd present there.“Selene followed me because she knew you guys had sent someone to shoot me. She took the bullet to save me!”So that was their plan: to take my life and make their son the next heir to the Supreme Alpha’s throne. “That is so bad of them…”Whispers broke out, loud enough for everyone to hear.“They killed their own daughter and are pointing fingers at the Supreme Alpha…”“I know this family had a hidden secret. So they plan to kill the real heir to the throne.”“They want their lazy son to take over as the Supreme Alpha.”As the people spoke, my uncle and his family began acting nervously because they had been caught in the act. “Step down from the throne and let the real heir ascend!”People started shouting, ignoring that we were all in the hospital and would disturb the patients there.“Jace’s father was the supreme Alpha and the reason you were put on the throne was that he was too young to rule!”“Why won't you ste
Aria’s POVOf course, I would have run towards her, gone down on my knees, and cried at her feet to forgive me. But not anymore. I ignored Kael, grabbed one of the mean girls’ collars, and gave her a resounding slap that caused the rest to gasp in shock. No, I didn't stop there; I turned to the o
Aria’s POVShe came home in the middle of the night when everyone, except me has fallen asleep. I would have also slept off while waiting for her, but since what I wanted to confront her about was urgent and I couldn't wait, I had to stay awake. The moment she saw me, she froze on the stairs, her
Aria’s POVAlpha Gregory shouldn't be in my pack, especially when he knows that I have ascended to the alpha position. He should have been scared of the outcome, but he didn't. Instead, he came right here just the way he had always done to see Lana. I approached them, each memory of the torment I
Aria’s POV “What is the matter with you!” Elias, whose hand was in the air, holding a flower vase halted what he was trying to do. They both turned to the door, their faces wrinkled, brows raised in confusion. I didn't know they had resorted to harming each other with objects simply because of w
