CHAPTER 29

Darius

I walked into the palace from my usual morning exercise. As a hybrid Alpha, I don’t really need to do work-outs to keep my self in shape as I genetically have a muscular physique with good metabolisms. I still have to keep my strength and endurance so as not to appear weak to anyone who is willing to challenge me.

I was enjoying the humming sounds of the birds in their nests in the trees. It gave me an harminous feeling and relief hearing their beautoful sounds. It really kicked start my day in a happy mood.

“Good morning Alpha.” The workers greeted me in unison as I walked past them as I tried to follow the humming sounds.

“Thank y'all.” I said with a broad smile on my face. This took them with surprise as they gasped in awe. I wasn’t known to have a warm personality especially among the people who worked in the palace.

I tried to remain fair and unbiased while giving them orders. But, I tried not to get too friendly with them. So, when I answered them in a joyful manner they seemed shocked.

I paid no heed to them as I continued to venture into the palace. I kept walking like I had a chip on my shoulders with my hands in my pocket whistling away. It wasn’t till I walked passed the gym area, that I perceived this soft feminine and alluring scent.

It was a scent that always drove me and my wolf wild. It was the scent of Aurora’s.

My wolf always growled in restlessness anytime she was near me. It always takes all my strength to calm it down.

I decided to drop in and see on how progress as she seemed to be improving everyday. It felt like she was getting stronger everytime we have a playful spar, yet I could sense at some point I will have to take her seriously as there was an inner and untapped energy waiting to be unlocked in her.

To my astonishment, I met her sitting down with Raven talking in low voices. I could listen to their conversation while my high listening skill. But, I decided to respect their private space.

Even as Alpha, I still have to respect my clan members private rights including the ones in my inner circle. I was about to leave, but there was no way I could leave without atleast talking to Aurora.

“I hope you ladies aren’t talking about me?” I jokingly asked Immediately, Raven was the first to stand uprightly.

“Of course we could never do that. That’s an offense my Alpha.” She slowly bowed to me.

“I trust you raven. “ I replied back. Aurora was a bit slower in standing up, but her eyes looked red and swollen like she hadn’t slept or was crying.

“Good morning Alpha.” She said in a cold tone. I felt a sting in my heart, which my wolf also noticed.

“Is there something bothering her?’ I thought to myself, My wolf was quite curious to know the sudden change as she always looked happy and lively to see me. \

I sharply saw with my peripheral  vision as Raven signaled for her to also bow. Which she did hesitantly.

I nodded in acceptance slightly and moved away from the gym area immediately. I walked to my private chambers pondering to myself “ Is she upset with me?” I asked myself.

It felt like there were dark cloud all of a sudden hovering around the palace. I marched on without paying heed to any greeting till I got to my room. I slammed the door behind and laid down on my king-size bed.

“Could it be on what I said, why am I so bothered if she’s not happy with me?” Yet, a wave of anxiety washed over me. The thought of me the root of her been upset didn’t bring joyful feelings in my insides.

My wolf grunted at me displeased. “I can’t remember saying or doing something to her. She’s the one walking around been stared at.” I mumbled to myself.  However, a wave of guilt washed over me.

I slowly drifted off to sleep while I was alone in my thoughts. I woke up several hours later. It was already evening and I remembered Cameron had some important news on some fact-finding mission that I sent him to do.

I took a quick shower and wore an exquisite long coat that reach my knees and striaght-lined suit trousers. “She won’t be able be to resist seeing me all dressed up.”

I thought to myself. I had a low grin on my face, as I admired myself in the mirror before I headed off. I wore a sensational husk oil which could be smelt all across the palace halls.

All the she-wolves who worked at the palace look swept away. They couldn’t seem to be focused as I walked majestically towards the throne room. I could feel their deep stares all focused on me, but I remained unfazed. There was only one’s attention who I looked forward to but she wasn’t there yet.

I finally met Cameron waiting for me in the throne room. He stood up immediately I emtered.” Good evening Alpha, I can see the she-wolves in the palace can’t take their eyes of you.”

I feigned ignorance to what he was implying, he was always very sly in his words. “ There is nothing I can do about that. They are allowed to appreciate their Alpha.” I replied in a sharp tone. I sensed he was pushing this to a particular topic but I remained unfazed.

“Such a shame, I didn’t see Aurora on my may here. I’m sure she would also appreciated your outfit.” Cameron said in a hoarse voice. I shot him a glare which he took him aback.

“Do you have what I asked for?” I hurriedly ask him to change the subject. He nodded quickly and respectfully handed me a white envelope.

“The symbol you spoke was in the rare history books of our pack. It dates back to the first wolf of the clan. There is even a myth of those symbols. Can you remember what you see it?” He said in a curious tone. I shook my head aggressively signaling I don’t recall. I wasn’t ready yet to tell him on her symbol till I’m sure it’s the same thing.

He respestfully bowed him his head to signal his exit. He sensed I wasn’t in a very pleasant mood and didn’t want to overstay his welcome. I walked back to my chambers feeling down not seeing her till I heard a soft voice whisper behind me.

“So this your way of getting back at me right?” Aurora said with a sinister smile. This was going to be a long night.
