What an idiot.Deep down, Brax had known that it was a stupid idea to meet Adira here. It was even more stupid, he knew, to expect his sister to be happy to see him after everything that had happened both between the two of them but also beyond them. Time stood still. Adira swore everything happened in slow motion as she watched her brother stand up and approach her. Her heart raced, pounding against her ribcage as if trying to escape. Braxton’s words lingered on Adira’s mind as they carried on walking. Neither of them spoke, too caught up in their own complex web of circumstances and problems and trying to figure out how they would get out of this okay. There seemed to be more things that could go wrong coming up as time went on and Adira didn’t know how she was going to get Camden to agree to help her. All she knew was that she needed his help.
