A gruesome Night

Howls and growls echoed through the dark woods, shadows too fast, and blurry to be seen with human eyes moved swiftly. the sound of a body slammed hard against a tree was heard followed by a hiss.

Then suddenly, it became silent.

The moonlight glimmered through the thick leaves of the trees. Underneath were blood stains, brown leaves painted red and pained groans and coughs rang through the night as more blood spilled from the unfortunate victims.

"Why did you attack my pack?" A cold yet restrained voice came. Eyes glimmering a bright ember. The moon cast a dark shadow upon his features, making him appear more menacing. Blood dripped to the ground from the claws of his half shifted right hand.

"Answer me," he commanded, his voice reverberating. As if the wind was on his side, the leaves rattled and the dead ones around were blown away in that instant.

A visible shudder ran through the man on the ground, clutching his abdomen.

Around them lay piles of dead bodies. Shifters in the human and beast forms sprawled, lifeless, torn limb from limb.

"P…par… pardon, p..please," the man stuttered. Blood spilling from his mouth with every word he uttered.

"Not only did you trespass into my territory, you killed members of my pack," he said through clenched jaws. "Yet you have the guts to ask for pardon?"

He squatted down, his hand clamped on the man's throat. "Do you think you deserve it?" He asked.

The man's hands quickly shot to his wrist, holding on to dear life. His feet flailed as the tips of his toes tried to remain grounded. Uneven breaths escaped him, and color began to drain from his eyes.

"I'll ask you one last time, and you better answer carefully," he said if he wasn't talking to a man who could barely breathe. "Who sent you?"

"N…no one," the man managed to say.

"Do you take me for a fool?" he asked.

As difficult as it was for him, the man shook his head and then said, "It's…for…re…venge."

The sound of bones cracking echoed, and before a second passed, the man's body was thrown lifeless on the ground.

His gaze lingeared on the corpse, cold and distant.

"Alpha," another voice came from behind.

He didn't turn, just glanced over his shoulder, and the new arrival understood that that was the only response he'd get.

"We have subdued every last one of those who attempted an escape," they reported.

"Mm," he nodded. "Clean up this mess and find out who they are," he said and walked away.

"Yes, Alpha," his subordinate replied with a bow of his head.

Once he was gone, they looked around and couldn't help but shudder.

"This is gruesome, even for us," one of them said.

"I am still not used to this even after so long," another muttered.

Far from the gruesome scene in the woods, a girl lay curled on the ground. Her back aching from being struck with the cane over and again.

Blood dripped from open wounds, tears streamed down her eyes, but she didn't dare make a sound despite the pain.

Her tail was tucked between her legs and face buried between her knees.

It was even a wonder how she could assume such a position even while lying down.

Suddenly, her beast ears perked up and nose sniffed the air, then she stilled, her body shaking. Out of instinct, she crawled under the little bed at the corner.

"No," she uttered, voice trembling. "Not here, please."

But the footsteps kept on approaching, closing the distance slowly like a stalker in a nightmare. Before long, the door to the basement was pushed open, and a head poked inside.

Blonde hair and brown eyes was all she could see but that was enough to send fear into the girl on the ground and she tried as much as possible to lower her breathing, turning the already silent room more silent.

Seconds seemed longer than minutes and every second that passed pressed down on her mind.

"Rhea…?" the blonde girl called, stepping into the room. "I know you're in here, I can smell your stench. There's no point hiding. Save me the trouble and show yourself," she said.

But silence was all that greeted her ears.

"You know what would happen if I get angry, right?" she warned, her voice still maintaining its sweetness as if she were giving praises and not threats.

She pushed down the small stool that exists as the only furniture in there, and it hit the ground causing Rhea to tremble in fear where she hid.

"Just where could you be hiding?" the girl said, taking slow steps towards the bed. She stopped once she stood before it, her hands resting on the worn down frame.

"Could be hiding…." she squatted, knees and palms pressed on the ground, her eyes searching underneath, "...in here?" She completed her sentence.

Rhea jolted but the sudden movement sent pain throughout her body, and her head banged on the bed frame.

"Got you," the girl said, smiling like she just found a lost favorite toy.

She grabbed Rhea's leg and and roughly pulled her from under the bed. Rhea cried out in pain but it was as if the girl was deaf to it all and continued dragging her around the room.

"I'm sorry," Rhea began apologizing even though she had done nothing wrong. "Please, spare me."

"You should have shown yourself when I was asking nicely," she said. "You have no one but yourself to blame."

Letting go of Rhea's leg, she went around and gripped a hand full of her hair.

"Please, let me go," Rhea pleaded, her hands shot up to the girl's hand that held her hair. "Please, Gemma."

"Because of you, father is in a bad mood…" the girl, Gemma said, eyes glaring sharply at Rhea. She slapped off her hands as if it were a parasite. "Do you know what that means…?"

"That's enough, Gemma," a male's voice came from the door, interrupting Gemma.

She frowned and glanced at the person by the door. He leaned against the frame, hands folded crossed his chest, his expression that of boredom.

"What?" She hissed, but still didn't let go of Rhea's hair.

"Father wants everyone in the study," he said, his eyes then shifted to Rhea, "She needs to heal too if she is to be put to use again."

Gemma growled, displeased that her fun was interrupted.

"You're quite lucky today," she said and roughly released Rhea's hair. "Let's go, Julian."

Once the door slammed shut, Rhea cried, unable to hold it back anymore.

  • The Ruthless Alpha’s Hybrid Mate   Rage and Restraint

“Who the f*ck did this to you?” Dante’s growl vibrated through the room, low and dangerous, the kind that made the air feel heavier. For a moment, no one spoke.Julian stiffened.Rhea instinctively took a small step back. Not because she thought Dante would hurt her. It was just instincts and the raw anger she saw in his eyes. His eyes were still fixed on her cheek. The red fingerprints stood out clearly against her pale skin.Dante’s jaw tightened.“Answer me,” he demanded,“Who did this to you?” Rhea trembled, and when he saw her like that, he drew in a deep breath as holding something back. His jaws clenched.Rhea looked away, her eyes now on her feet as fear began to take over once again. She bit the inside of her cheek as if that would help get rid of the fear. Her fingers slowly dropped from her cheek, but the burning sensation remained. She glanced at the door briefly, knowing Gemma was still somewhere outside.“...It's nothing,” she said softly. He was already this angry. He m

  • The Ruthless Alpha’s Hybrid Mate   A Sudden Change

Rhea tossed and turned on the bed, unable to sleep no matter how hard she tried. The bed was comfortable, better than anything she'd ever laid on, but it was something that was foreign to her.She rolled and lay on her back. Her eyes on the ceiling and her mind began processing everything that had transpired since that morning until now. “Alpha Dante,” she whispered, the name heavy on her tongue. She lifted her hand and stared at her wrist where he held her and led her here. She also remembered the warmth she felt from his body when he picked her up after breaking the chains. Her tail moved on its own, and her cheek turned pink as blood rushed up.She tapped her cheeks, shaking her head as she reprimanded herself to stop thinking like that. When was the last time she felt such warmth? The last person to hold her so close and with so much care was her mother, and that was a long time ago. Thanks to Alpha Dante, she had eaten until she was filled. Her wounds were also healed by a hea

  • The Ruthless Alpha’s Hybrid Mate   Her Voice

Several moments later, inside a guest's room, Rhea sat on the edge of a bed. Her posture was cautious, and her senses on high alert. She could hear their voices behind the door as Dante addressed his subordinates. She followed Dante when he told her to because she knew it was better to go with than to stay behind. She would be nothing but a sheep in the midst of literal wolves. Everything that happened inside the ballroom still felt like a dream. It all happened so fast that she was unable to follow it all, but what stuck with her was that Alpha Dante was hellbent on keeping her by his side, and it baffled her. What was his motive? He was ready to kill Gemma and make an enemy of Alpha Collins and the Winter Pack, all for her sake. Rhea couldn't think of any reason why he would do that. The door opened, and Dante entered. His steps halted for a second when their eyes met before he fully stepped in and closed the door behind him. Under his gaze, Rhea felt small like a rabbit bef

  • The Ruthless Alpha’s Hybrid Mate   More Than Enough

Dante’s words hung heavy in the air, the silence that settled over the ballroom, making them louder. Dante and Alpha Collins held each other's gaze, the air charging with growing tension. For a moment, Alpha Collins' eyes shifted towards Rhea, but Dante was quick to block his line of sight, shielding her from Alpha Collins. “Well?” Dante probed. “It would be a shame to give something as insignificant as that to you,” Alpha Collins said through clenched jaws. “I don't care,” Dante breathed. “Do we have a deal?” “And if I refuse?” Alpha Collins asked. “It changes nothing,” Dante replied, stepping back until he reached Rhea. He grabbed her hand. “I will just take her and leave.” Rhea swallowed a lump in her throat, and her body turned stiff. His words overwhelmed her. Why was he so persistent about taking her with him? No one has ever done that before. She raised her head slightly, peeking cautiously at him as if afraid to be caught looking at him. His countenance was dark, al

The more he looked at her, the more his patience was being tested, but at least she responded to him, however faint her responses were. But one thing truly grated against his nerves, and that was her reaction to Alpha Collins’ son. It was as if his presence was a blade hanging over her neck.Should I just kill him? He thought, his gaze locked on Julian whose eyes remained on Rhea. He gritted his teeth. Instead, he asked, “Where is your father?” Julian’s gaze finally shifted from Rhea to Dante, and he almost took a step back as soon as he met Dante’s glare.“He is with the other alphas,” Julian replied before he could even realize it.“Lead the way,” Dante said, his hand taking hold of Rhea’s wrist. His gaze met hers, and he said, his tone soft, compared to how he had spoken to Julian. “Let's go meet Alpha Collins.”Rhea just stared at him, her eyes silently pleading with him to leave her behind. “You'll be fine,” he assured her. “Trust me.” Rhea’s gaze moved from Dante to the oth

  • The Ruthless Alpha’s Hybrid Mate   The Blood: Where She Doesn't Belong

Rhea didn't know why, but when he picked her up, she did not resist. Maybe it was due to instincts, not wanting to be beaten for disobeying. Or perhaps it was because he was kind enough to notice her wounds and had shown concern for. Right now, they moved through the snow, his long legs made the distance seem much shorter than she knew it to be. Then she saw his eyes glazed over in a mindlink, and once again, panic surged, and she struggled to leave his arms, but his hold on her grew firmer the more she struggled.“I won't hurt you,” he assured. But Rhea couldn't believe any of it. “My people will get you a healer soon,” he said. “Where would you like me to take you? Just point in the direction.” Rhea hesitated but eventually gave him directions. Meanwhile, inside the ballroom, Reid stood with a frown. The message he had just received from his alpha replaying in his head again.“Find a healer and bring them to me. Be fast about it,” his Alpha had said.He didn't explain and didn't
