Eva Gibson’s pov

“Don't worry about Gideon Landers; he was the high wolf king before he and his mate retired the throne to their eldest son,” Lana snickered, and I choked on the beer I had just sipped.

“Wait what! Why didn't you mention that before?!”

“Because he never liked the title and prefers being treated as an equal. Plus, he enjoys working with the council,” she sighed, and I rolled my eyes.

“Doesn't seem like much of a retirement,” I muttered and went to sit on a lounge chair.

After finishing my second beer, I took my empty bottles and the others to the kitchen to search for the trash.

Seeing the sink with a few dirty dishes, I decided to wash them to pass the time.

Finished with them, I went on to clean the entire kitchen. Finding a cupboard full of cleaning supplies, I grabbed the dust cloth and polishing spray, then started dusting the entire living room.

Looking over my work, I grinned and then returned the items before sitting back down on the loveseat.

Eva Gibson’s pov Getting dressed, I hissed, having to struggle with my pants zipper. “Is it normal to gain so quickly?” I questioned my wolf. “For your pup, yes,” she responded, and I glanced at Austin. “I'm going to need maternity clothes sooner than later,” I mumbled. Grinning slightly, he suggested that I contact Olivia and have her send me some from her mate's clothes store. “Just tell her to charge it to my account,” He informed me with a grin. “I'd have to tell her I'm pregnant…” Giving me a smirk, he nodded and quipped, “Seems reasonable if you need maternity clothes, silly. You're Olivia's baby sister, and she loves you. She'll be ecstatic knowing that she will be an aunt.” Rolling my eyes, I grabbed a simple tee and finished getting dressed before going back to the ensuite to blow dry my hair. When I finished and entered the room, I saw Austin looking at his cell phone. “What are you looking at?” Glancing at me, he sighed. “My stepmother Sonya told m

Eva Gibson’s pov Gideon informed us that he would return tomorrow with Mr. Phillips and then vanished. My attention went back to Sara eyeing Nick briefly before she rushed to Elvina to hug her. Smiling at the two friends reuniting, I felt Austin squeeze my hand as I glanced up at him. Seeing the unshed tears in his eyes and the grin on his face, I leaned up and pecked his cheek. “If you don't mind, I'm going to go check out my old suite,” Nick announced as he headed down the hall of the closed-off section of the house. Raising my brow, I was surprised. “Your dad's room was in the closed-off section? Did Patrick do that because of their fight?” Shaking his head, Austin explained that Nick's room had always been in that section. Also, when he visited after Elvina had been sent away, he stayed there. The two brothers never worked out their differences, and it gave them space. “Plus, it is closed off because the areas are simply unused daily,” he added. “I see. Hmm, I be

Eva Gibson’s pov Licking his lips and eyeing, Austin Gideon smacked his lips noisily before huffing, “You're definitely Elvina's son. Give me a moment to visit with both brothers.” He disappeared from where he stood, and I glanced at Austin with the sunlight glistening off his bare tan chest. Scrunching my lips in silliness, I looked up at his face and met his eyes watching me, causing me to giggle slightly. “You find all of this humorous?” Shaking my head with my fingers on my chin, I studied his features and couldn't see any resemblance to Patrick Belmont. He looked nothing like Patrick or Nick, for that matter, which was confusing to me. "He must take after his mother," I thought. “His real father's wolf could be similar. Nero is black, and Austin is brown-haired,” Lana growled, causing my brow to furrow. “What color are Patrick and Nick's wolves?” Creasing his brow, he looked at me questionably. “What does that matter?” Shrugging casually, I muttered that

  • The Second Choice Mate    Chapter 62

Eva Gibson’s pov Impressed with how quickly Austin learned how to handle a sword, I taught him how to wear out his opponent, as Gideon had suggested to me. I could tell Austin’s confidence had grown and wiped off my sweaty brow when Gideon tapped me out to take over. Noticing Jace come strolling into the area, he was holding a handful of documents. I then noticed the suit-dressed man behind him pushing his glasses up on his nose. “Hi Eva, I need Austin to sign a few things in front of this notary sent by his uncle from the Gray River pack,” Jace whispered in my ear as he passed by me, and my eyes widened at the apparent traitor in our midst. I was curious about what documents were needed for a notary in our wolf community. I scurried after Jace. Standing to the side, I listened to Jace inform Austin that his will had been rewritten, and he needed to go over what his uncle had changed and get it notarized for it to be legal. “I only agreed to one change, and that was my o

Eva Gibson’s pov Entering the house, I turned to Austin and asked, “Why does this place seem so cold and empty?” Smiling, he informed me that we were all alone in the huge home, and I shook my head. “I realize that I meant the atmosphere seems oppressing,” I muttered. “Ah well, like I explained before, my father grew cold after he sent my birth mother away, and it seeped into the walls,” He stated. “Why did he? She was his mate, wasn't she?” I asked him in befuddlement. Pecking my cheek, he said, “Because he feared what she was, and I believe that I told you that as well. Enough questions you need substance.” Following him into the kitchen, I stated that he must have grown depressed after she was gone. “He obviously loved her if he had grown so bitter,” I commented, and he snorted. “My father has no love, and I doubt if he even has a heart,” he asserted as he rummaged through the fridge and pulled out several containers. After preparing me for some warmed pork chop
