LOGINSonia's POV
I had no idea how I found my way to a bar. It was as if my legs knew that was the only place capable of relieving my aching heart. I couldn't go home out of fear that I might do something stupid. I couldn't stop the intense pain in my heart, and the throbbing in my head. And I felt powerless on realizing I had no control over my emotions.
Right now, I just wanted to be alone, without having to see the faces of the people I knew. Because, I clearly couldn’t differentiate between real friends and vipers.

"Sonia, I'm so sorry. I..... no, we were going to break the news of our relationship to you soon, but we couldn't find the right time to do it. You can't really blame us, can you? Love is a matter of the heart, it is what the heart wants, and our heart chooses each other." Michael's words reverberated in my head, and a whimper escaped my mouth, as the pain in my chest intensified.
"What about me, Michael? What about my undying love for you?" I asked with a broken voice.
"It doesn't matter, Sonia. I don't love you, I never did. I only agreed to date you out of pity. You looked pathetic the first time we met, like someone desperate to be loved. I really thought I could love you, especially after hearing your sad life story, but now......" He paused, biting his lower lip to stop himself from talking.
I wanted to hear his reasons, even though I knew it could affect me. So, I shook my head, determined not to cry. "What went wrong, then?" I asked him.
"You were so clingy and too desperate for love and a family. Fuck, you were willing to kiss my ass whenever and wherever. Don't get me wrong, Soni, you....." he tried to take my hand, but I swung my hand backward, shifting away from him as tears rolled down my face. I was pitiful? I was desperate? I was clingy? I was too emotional?
My eyes slowly shifted to Georgia who was staring at me with what almost seemed like regret in her eyes. She was my best friend, someone I was willing to sacrifice so much for, and yet, she....
"How long?" I asked her with furrowed brows.
"One year now," Georgia replied with a grimace.
Michael and I had been dating for five years, but it was all starting to make sense; the reason he had been postponing our wedding. His behavior drastically changed last April, but I thought it was because of his work stress. And Georgia? She made it so obvious. Whenever we had a girls' day out, she always had to leave early.
"Your mother, she was never sick, was she?" I asked, and Georgia nodded her head slowly.
"Sonia, please, I- am sor-"
I dug my finger into my wrist, wondering how the hell I would be able to get over this intense pain in my chest.
"Hmm, Sonia, we plan on getting married soon." Michael broke the silence. I had no idea why my gaze drifted to Georgia's finger. Michael stretched his hand and grabbed her hand, interlocking their fingers.
I burst into hysterical laughter, trying to hide my true feelings. "Is Angela aware of this? Does she know about your wedding?" I asked.
Georgia shook her head. "She isn't aware, yet. I really wanted to tell both of you, but I just couldn't find the perfect opportunity. I'm sorry, girlfriend.”
I studied Georgia and Michael's expressions, they didn't look remorseful a bit, and it disgusted me. If they both have even a bit of respect for me, they wouldn't be acting so in love in my presence right now. Especially since I just caught them cheating.
"Sonia, you really have to understand us. But if you want to blame anyone for this, blame me, and leave Georgia alone. The only crime she committed was falling in love with someone also interested in her."
I scoffed at his words, and although I tried, a tear dropped out of my eyes. My dream was never going to come true. I wasn't destined to raise the perfect family.
“If you don't mind, you can give us the wedding venue and the honeymoon location. We'd really appreciate it,” Michael said, and tried to touch my hand again. My eyes widened in shock, and I slapped him so hard on the face, while Georgia whimpered taking a step backward.
"That's for deceiving me all this time, and making me believe that you deserved me." I tilted my gaze to Georgia, who was still behind Michael with a frightened expression on her face. "And you? I hope you get what you truly deserve in life for being a snake. I wish you both what you truly deserve. And don't worry about the wedding venue I paid for, I will use it myself.”
I immediately took off the ugly cheap ring Michael had given me when he proposed. The stupid ring had been sitting in my fingers for almost two fucking years now. I removed it and tossed it right on his face. If I were to compare this to what he had given Georgia, hers was capable of buying a limited edition Dior bag. So, it meant he was never in any sort of financial crisis, I was just never worthy of his money.
"Rot in hell, both of you!" I spat out and immediately turned around, walking out of the room and leaving the overcrowded apartment building.

"Fucking dickhead! Can I get three shots of your strong tequila? Make it super strong." I said to the bartender, a shirtless man with a lot of inked scars. I should have called for Angela, but I wasn't in the mood to see anyone. Also, I didn't want to burden her again.
The bartender placed three shots on my counter, and when I picked up one, he spoke,
"You should be careful, miss. It's dangerous out there if you want to go back on your own. These men are molesting drunk women."
I smiled, nodding my head. "I'll be fine. Thanks for your concern."
As soon as the bartender walked away, I gulped down the shot in my hand, feeling a burning sensation as it flushed down my throat.
When I picked up my second shot, a man came to sit beside me, "Having a bad day, huh?" He asked, staring at me, but I ignored him and slammed down the second shot like it was nothing.
"So impressive! I didn't expect a lady to drink this well,” the man said, and turned to face the bartender. “I'll have what the lady got, and give her two more shots from mine. She seems to be going through some terrible stuff."
I heaved deeply and gulped down the third shot before darting my gaze to him. I was starting to feel a bit tipsy so it was hard to describe his looks.
I sniffled, "Why do bad things always happen to good people?" I asked rhetorically.
"Life is sometimes unpredictable, and bad things can happen to anyone, regardless of their character or actions." I heard him say, and his hoarse voice immediately caught my attention; but it was still hard to see his face clearly.
When the bartender dropped three more shots on the man's side of the counter, he shifted them to my side.
"I guess you need this more than I do." He said, and without thinking twice, I collected them, gulping it all at one go. Although it tasted different, I discarded my fear and took a deep breath.
"Do you want to hear a secret?" He asked me in a whisper, and I nodded my head. My vision was starting to blur and I felt really tipsy. The man leaned towards me with a smile on his face, and surprisingly, I sat in my seat not bothering to move away from him.
"Go to room number 201, and you'll find what you've been searching for all your life."
He rose to his feet, paid the bartender, and said, "Here. I'm paying for the lady too. Have a nice day, angel."
I sat still, watching his retreating figure till he vanished out of my sight. When I turned back to my drinks, his words kept ringing in my head. And I wondered what was in room 201.
I couldn't take another sip because I was tipsy, and I felt a strange throbbing in the middle of my thigh. I rose to my feet and grabbed my bag from the counter, preparing to leave, but my legs wouldn't move toward the exit. I desperately wanted to know what the strange man was talking about, and if really the perfect family existed.
I sucked a deep breath and turned towards the stairs, heading for the room on the third floor, room 201. When I located the room, I knocked on the door, assuring myself that no one would answer it. But to my surprise, a strong arm swiftly opened the door and pulled me inside the room before I could defend myself.
"What the fuc-"
The man slammed my body so hard against the wall, that I whimpered, my heart racing.
I couldn't see his face because of the darkness, but through his voice, I could tell he was young. He had a great physique, and he smelled nice.
"Who the fuck sent you?" He whispered in my neck, his hot breath fanning my skin. It was like he was struggling with something, because his breathing was ragged.
Before I could reply to his question, he continued,
"I don't care who sent you, lady. And trust me, it doesn't matter, because I'm never letting you go. I need you, please help me!" He pleaded with a husky voice.
I furrowed my brow, wondering what to say. Something about his voice made my core itch uncomfortably, and his breath on my neck made my nipples swell. I licked my lower lip unconsciously, and the man snapped, maybe he took it as my invitation. He crashed his lips on mine, kissing me like a starved tiger who had been deprived of meat for days. I wanted to pull away from the kiss, but something about him was alluring, and I also wanted to forget about Michael's betrayal. I seducingly wrapped my arms around his neck, and he lifted me from the ground, placing my legs around his waist, and his hand on my ass.
"Fuck me, stranger! Fuck me till I forget all my worries." I moaned, rubbing my clitoris on him.
Lucian Smithfield's POV:On a normal day, I avoid women, men, clubs, and alcohol. Not because I don't have friends, but because of my choices. Those sorts of things weren't a necessity, and I grew up without needing most of them.“Sonia Magnus?” I murmur under my breath, reading the file in my hands. Darren, my bodyguard and secretary had given it to me five minutes ago. He was so excited to carry out this job that he brought everything he could find about her.“She is an orphan but was adopted at a young age,” Darren informed me on noticing my curiosity in the file.“Do they live here in the city? Her parents I mean?” I asked Darren with a conflicted voice.Darren shook his head and sighed. “No, they don't. Sonia left home a long time ago, and from what I could gather, she doesn't seem to have a good relationship with her family,” he said, and I furrowed my brows. We were in my office. I had come early to familiarize myself with the building, but I couldn't get my one-night stand out
SONIA'S POVWhen I woke up the next morning, a man was lying next to me, his eyes shut tightly. And the first thing that crossed my mind was his look. I had slept with a god-like man last night, without knowing why or what happened. His jawline was magnificent, and the rising and falling of his chest got me addicted.Suddenly, my head throbbed with the relentless rhythm of a hangover. And when I turned towards the window, the harsh morning light seeped through the curtains, piercing my sensitive eyes like a thousand tiny needles. The sun felt like a cruel reminder of my overindulgent night. Every movement was an effort, and the room seemed to spin around me as I failed at my attempt to turn my head to the other side. My mouth was parched, and the taste of stale alcohol clung to my tongue, something else was tasting in my mouth, but I just couldn't figure out what it was.My head pounded, and I feared I was going to explode from a headache. I looked at the man, he looked relaxed and ha

SONIA'S POVSoft giggles echoed in my space, and I lowered my head, feeling frustrated.“Oh my goodness! Did you hear the news? The president's sons are back in Hollywood, Sonia.” My best friend, Angela, shrieked in the cab, and I rolled my eyes at her, wondering why she had been talking about them for a while now. We didn't even know who they were and they also had no clue who we were so why was she this freaking obsessed?“But you know what I heard?” This time around, her voice was a little shushed as she moved closer to me, and I heaved deeply, finally raising my eyes from my phone to give her the attention that she had been craving for the entire time.“What did you hear this time, Angela?” I asked with a bored voice.“They’re step-brothers and are each other's worst enemies. Rumor has it, they’re back as CEOs of Smithfield Corporation, and according to the president there can be only one successor of the corporation.” Angela explained, her eyes lingering on the news headline.Al
