SONIA'S POV

When I woke up the next morning, a man was lying next to me, his eyes shut tightly. And the first thing that crossed my mind was his look. I had slept with a god-like man last night, without knowing why or what happened. His jawline was magnificent, and the rising and falling of his chest got me addicted.

Suddenly, my head throbbed with the relentless rhythm of a hangover. And when I turned towards the window, the harsh morning light seeped through the curtains, piercing my sensitive eyes like a thousand tiny needles.

The sun felt like a cruel reminder of my overindulgent night. Every movement was an effort, and the room seemed to spin around me as I failed at my attempt to turn my head to the other side. My mouth was parched, and the taste of stale alcohol clung to my tongue, something else was tasting in my mouth, but I just couldn't figure out what it was.

My head pounded, and I feared I was going to explode from a headache. I looked at the man, he looked relaxed and harmless in his sleep, but I knew that the right thing to do was to leave before he woke up. Also, I couldn't afford to be late to work.

As I tried to stand up, I felt a sharp pain in my vagina, and I clapped my thighs together. I was still sore from last night, and my cheeks turned red as I remembered how he had handled me. Fucking me roughly like I committed a crime. I gently placed my thumb on my core, caressing it to ease the throbbing pain.

When I felt better, I stood up, looking around as I searched for my dress and underwear. I spotted them and quickly dressed up. My body was aching but I managed to pack my hair and picked up my bag. I took one final look at the man, assuring myself that he wouldn't remember my face, and no one would ever find out.

When I reached the bar counter, the seat I had sat on last night was empty. I looked at where the strange man had sat, and I tried remembering his look, but it was futile, and my terrible headache made it nearly impossible for me to think. Something felt suspicious about him, and I narrowed my gaze, wondering how he knew the god-like man would be in room 201.

“I wasn't set up, was I?” I reasoned, looking around the bar for any suspicious movement. The sound of my phone ringing snapped me out of my thoughts. I brought out my phone and answered the call.

"Where the fuck are you, Sonia! I've been trying to reach you since yesterday. Have you forgotten what is happening today? One of the president's sons is fucking coming, and you mustn't be late." Angela growled like an angry lion as soon as I picked up the call.

I gasped the moment I remembered what she was talking about, "Fuck, Angela, I'll be there very soon. Sorry, I overslept and forgot." I apologized and luckily, my Uber ride arrived in time.

When I got home, there was a letter and a small box by my doorstep. I looked around but there was no sign of anyone. Shrugging my shoulders, I picked it up, tossing it on an empty couch as I entered my house.

I rushed to the bathroom, and in fifteen minutes, I was done and fully dressed in an emerald green gown which clung to my body like it was poured. My shape and curves were obvious, and they made me look appealing to the eyes.

This time around, I didn't want to pack my hair in a ponytail like I always did, so I let it down, allowing it to fall freely. Lastly, I applied bold red lipstick, to make my glow even more. It felt like a new me, a whole new Sonia that refused to break down at a man's betrayal. I wanted to be strong and believe that Michael didn't deserve me.

I grabbed my bag from the table and headed out of the apartment, desperately praying that I wouldn't be late for work. When I got to the front of Smithfield Corporation, Angela was waiting for me, and she quickly pulled me into her embrace.

"You arrived just in time, Sonia. Mr Smithfield asked to see everyone from the financing department. Fuck, I'm so nervous to meet his son. Do you think I'll be acknowledged? Do you think he'll be as handsome as everyone says?" Angela asked me with an excited look, and her cheeks burned red. We both walked inside the building, greeting any other employees we met.

"Just the financing team? Why? Did we do something wrong?" I asked, feeling a bit nervous.

"I don't think so. Maybe he just wants to introduce his son to the backbone of the company. Whatever the case, I'm super excited!" Angela giggled, and I arched my brows at her, wondering why she was acting like she was about to meet her long-distance boyfriend.

At the mention of her boyfriend, my mind went back to Michael and the strange man I slept with. I was lost in my thoughts, and I couldn't help but wonder what I'd do if I got pregnant. Fortunately, I reminded myself that it was a one-night thing, and it would never repeat itself. Also judging by the hotel f*e and the god-like man's clothes, he seemed like a wealthy person, the type that never sleeps with a lady more than once.

"I hope he didn't record our intense moment."

"What are you murmuring to yourself, Twinnie?" I heard Angela's voice, and I blinked my eyelashes, realizing I'd been talking to myself.

I shook my head and smiled. "I was talking about th-"

"Oh my gosh! Sonia, are you wearing makeup? You look different today. It's almost like you glowed up overnight. I guess someone got laid. Don't tell me that Michael-"

At the mention of Michael's name, I frowned, and Angela immediately noticed.

"What's wrong, love? Did you guys fight?" She asked, but before I could reply, the financial director walked into the office, dressed in a well-fitted suit that looked like he had nurtured it all night.

"The big boss looks-"

"Different?" I completed Angela's sentence, and we were both surprised. Because the director had never cared about his appearance.

The financial director stood in front of the office and cleared his throat. "Everyone, let's properly welcome the new CEO of Smithfield Corporation, Lucian Smithfield!" He announced with an anxious smile, and a tall, majestic man entered.

I gasped as our eyes met, because he looked exactly like the man I had a one-night stand with. The new CEO smirked at me, informing me that he clearly remembered what happened last night.

He was so excited to carry out this job that he brought everything he could find about her.“She is an orphan but was adopted at a young age,” Darren informed me on noticing my curiosity in the file.“Do they live here in the city? Her parents I mean?” I asked Darren with a conflicted voice.Darren shook his head and sighed. “No, they don't. Sonia left home a long time ago, and from what I could gather, she doesn't seem to have a good relationship with her family,” he said, and I furrowed my brows. We were in my office. The president's sons are back in Hollywood, Sonia.” My best friend, Angela, shrieked in the cab, and I rolled my eyes at her, wondering why she had been talking about them for a while now. We didn't even know who they were and they also had no clue who we were so why was she this freaking obsessed?“But you know what I heard?” This time around, her voice was a little shushed as she moved closer to me, and I heaved deeply, finally raising my eyes from my phone to give her the attention that she had been craving for the entire time.“What did you hear this time, Angela?” I asked with a bored voice.“They’re step-brothers and are each other's worst enemies. Rumor has it, they’re back as CEOs of Smithfield Corporation, and according to the president there can be only one successor of the corporation.” Angela explained, her eyes lingering on the news headline.Al
