CHAPTER 6
Lex and Kar didn’t notice their mothers or much of anything as they walked in silence. Lex was trying to figure out what to say to Kar and Kar was letting her figure it out. He owed her that much. He had been horrible to her and he needed to make it up to her. As he was thinking of ways to make her happy with him again an idea started to form. Maybe now was the time to tell her about his dreams and then she would share hers. It might make things better and show her that he does care for her. So instead of heading to the castle and the roof Kar changed directions and headed for the stables. Riding always made Lex relaxed and happy.

Well, this is it. You’ll finally get to learn how to fix a car. And not just any car, a 1964 ½ Ford Mustang, swoon. As she approached the garage door her hand shook a little. She had been dreaming of taking this class since she first saw a mustang. Having her dad fill her head with stories of fixing and racing sports cars himself only added to her longing to learn. Aeden, Brenda, Jake, and Tess were standing in front of the Astronomy class waiting for the door to be opened. Aeden was leaning against the rail with her back turned to the corridor, Jake was standing directly in front of her, Tess had her back against the railing facing Brenda. This is how they would usually huddle in their little group. As they were talking Jake got very distracted by something behind Aeden. Aeden elbowed Brenda and Tess, they all looked at Jake and then Brenda and Tess looked behind them. They all just stood there gawking. So Aeden finally turned around to see what had their attention. So, for the next two days she dedicated herself to cleaning the house. Aeden had a maid of course but sometimes you just have to do things for yourself. And Sherry, her maid, followed her from room to room working with Aeden instead of re-cleaning after her. When it came to her office Sherry took a lunch break and allowed Aeden time to herself. Sherry usually only dusted the desk, changed the bed linens, and cleaned the adjoining bathroom. But she knew, after talking with Jordan, that Aeden might need to do a little on her own. So Aeden sat at her computer and scanned items inputting them into different files and backing everything up on a few different systems. She then took all the papers put them in files and then put them in a safe within a safe, just to make sure. Being a writer, she knew what could happen if certain papers got into the public. “Did you stay living with your parents after the lawyers?” Grant asked. “Yes, I didn't move out until I was 20. Things calmed down after about 6 months. And when I turned 18 and had enough money I started getting estimates from contractors to build this place. Dean didn’t know what to do. He sort of understood why talking about her ‘finances’, as Aeden had put it, would upset her. But he didn’t think it was really as big of a deal as she was making it out to be. He knew he had to get her to talk to him again. When he saw her last night, something had changed for him. When Aeden woke up the morning of her class with Dean she was calm. She had made her peace with what had happened and had decided to just let him go. She knew it might hurt for a while but like everything else she had lost in her life it would be forgotten. She kept telling herself that she needed to relax and act like nothing had happened, it was the only way she would get through the class. She also kept saying that the first day is always the hardest. So, she got up, got dressed, had her breakfast and grabbed her books. When she got to the garage she stopped and looked at her cars.
