Chapter 5

Mixed Emotions

The birthday celebrations continued, together with the Announcement of the Twins as Alpha and the Introduction of Rosalie as Lyles mate. The rest of the Royal family were eager to meet Rosalie and crowded the couple once the formalities were over. They had a lot of exciting questions to ask her and it seemed the Twins sisters were thrilled to be gaining another female into the family.

Luka excused himself and walked out of the banquet hall and down to the Cliff for some Fresh Air. The Royal family lived in a secluded plot not far from the Ocean. Their castle was gigantic. 100 rooms to be exact. A lot of lounges, banquets, games rooms, libraries, games rooms, and terraces, but Lukas favorite place to go to when he needed some fresh air, or to howl at the moon, or shift, was always the edge of this cliff.

As a child, he would come here whenever he was upset or angry and would watch the depths of the sea rise and his emotions heightened. There were a great many floods and thunderous waves whenever this happened and he could never understand why. Sometimes he felt that his parents chose to build their home on this cliff, the highest point he had ever seen, to prevent them from the force of the ocean. As Luka thought more about this he also realized that there were times the sun shone so bright whenever Lyle and his had an argument or Lyle did not get his way over something. Luka was not sure why he was having all of these thoughts, but it seemed like his mind was open, a free flow of knowledge and flashes of images.

His breathing was becoming more labored and he was starting to get a headache. He needed to shift to calm his emotions down. In a blink of a second Luka had shifted and was down on all fours bounding down the cliff towards the shoreline. The earth trembling beneath his paws, his black fur whipping ferociously in the wind. As Luka approached the shoreline he noticed a huge wave approaching. It grew in size as he got closer to the shoreline the huge wave was over 100m tall and was a black wall of destruction. The wave was not as tall as the cliff but it would definitely destroy everything in its path. Lukas wolf spoke in his head urging him to calm down, coaxing him to breathe. Luka was a mere few feet away from the gigantic wave when he heard another voice whisper within him. The voice was not in his head or memory but it sounded like it was a part of him. It was a woman's voice. Soft, tender,/ and faint. “Breathe”. Luka hadn’t realized that he was holding his breath and he instantly let out his breath, calming his emotions. In that instant, the towering wave smoothed out into shallow waves.

Luka had mixed emotions. Whose voice was that, how did he hear it, what happened to the wave, what caused it. The earth was trembling so much, did the people up at the Hall also notice?
