Zara’s POV

A man in a suit with slicked-back brown hair, who looked like he was in his 40s, came in. I squinted my eyes to take in his features very well, but I hadn’t seen him before. He walked in slowly, head bowed like a criminal being arraigned for judgment.

“This is the accomplice who single-handedly worked with Zara to steal company funds.” She pointed to him, “Mr Dalton.” Madilyn continued, her voice filled with confidence in her lies.

I ran my hand across my face and placed my right hand on my waist, unwilling to believe the depth of deception these people were willing to dig.

“I have never even met this man before,” I said, raising my hand towards and dropping it afterwards.

“She’s right,” he affirmed.

“We have never met before. And that's because we communicated virtually.”

My jaw dropped.

“We planned everything discreetly when she reached out to me for help. She said she couldn’t go back to her father because she disappointed him by leaving the company,” he said slowly. “S

Zara’s POVI was welcomed by a tense atmosphere. Everyone was present and gave curious looks as to the reason my father called for an emergency meeting. My heart was still pounding loudly in my chest as I located my seat. Evelyn took her usual place beside my father, and Madilyn next to her. They acted like one perfect happy family. It ached sorely to see that, but that wasn’t the problem in that moment. My father cleared his throat after mounting the podium. “Welcome, everyone. Directors and Managers all across our branches. Thank you for honouring my sudden invitation,” he started with a warm tone.Everyone nodded and gave applause. “As you all know, I have been leading Smith Company since my father, Ezekiel Smith, stepped down from this position 20 years ago. It has been the honour of my life to build and grow this company with all of you by my side, helping and holding my hand.”He adjusted his suit and cleared his throat again. His hesitation made everyone uneasy. “But as we al

  • The Untouchable Heiress He Regrets Losing   The Silent Intruder

Zara’s POVMy heart raced as I looked everywhere in the house. It was an undeniable truth that someone was in our home, but everything else seemed to be in place, except the blender that had shattered on the floor. Leo moved past me gently, his eyes scanning every corner of the kitchen. “Go upstairs. I’ll go to the basement,” he instructed, his voice low like he didn’t want anyone else to hear in case there was still an intruder in the house.I nodded and tiptoed gently up the stairs in the slowest way possible. My feet pressed silently on the cold stairs as I moved. I went into my room. Nothing was ransacked, nothing was stolen, but something still didn’t feel right. When I returned, Leo was bent over the shattered blender like a detective trying to piece together evidence on a crime scene. “The blender was there,” he said, pointing to his right. “So how did it get here?” he asked, pointing to his left. He stood up and walked around, probably trying to find out where the culprit s

  • The Untouchable Heiress He Regrets Losing   Storm in the House

Zara’s POVMy office was quiet, but the buzz and whispers in my head were deafening. I pressed my back against my chair, willing myself to exhale and breathe in.Selene. He was Selene when I almost didn’t sleep, thinking he was in trouble or something. I was beating myself up through the night for getting him angry, wide-eyed and drowning in guilt, but he was with another woman? Was it to get back at me? Did he do it on purpose so the whole world would mock me as the fiancée who allows her fiancé to go out with some girl?My mind replayed the photos again and again. The way her arms snaked around his waist and his hands over her shoulder as they walked into the hotel. For God’s sake, even if they wanted to go out with each other, couldn’t they be more discreet? He handed me my file with no explanation, even when my eyes were questioning him, like he hadn’t just comfortably spent the night with… arghhh. It hurt just to imagine what they would have done in the hotel. I expected him to

Zara’s POVWhen work ended for the day, I kept going back and forth around Leo’s office, wondering when he would come back. I did that until I gained the courage to ask his secretary stylishly. He told me he had gone home. Gone home? He didn’t usually go without me? Was it because of the heated argument we had earlier in the day? “You disgust me.” His words hovered in my head, and they hurt me, but I knew it didn't mean them. His feelings were as valid as his words. And when he came to know the truth, he would realise I wasn’t the enemy. The ride home was very uneasy. Flashes of his look and anger kept coming through my mind. I couldn’t tell Mia what happened when she asked what's up. I wasn’t ready yet.I got home expecting to see his car parked, but there was nothing. That was strange. I thought he had come home from work alone. It was understandable that he left me to come by myself.I made my way into the house and opened the door eagerly to see if there was any sign of him getti

  • The Untouchable Heiress He Regrets Losing   Stains of Guilt

Leo’s POVShe looked confused. “Did we what?”I raised a brow and gazed at her and myself again. Then, she laughed softly. “No, no, no. We didn’t do anything if that’s what you’re thinking.”“I got our room attendant to take your clothes off. They were soaked in alcohol and vomit.”I looked away, jaw tight because even though nothing happened, I felt like I had betrayed something or someone.“Really,” I asked.“Yes, you clocked out when you got to your tenth cup. I asked you to give me your address, but you kept mumbling. I couldn’t reach your foster parents either. And you wouldn’t unlock your phone for me either.”“I couldn’t think of anywhere else to take you to, and I couldn’t possibly leave you in that devastating state. I feared someone might take advantage of you.”I shut my eyes in embarrassment. “I did all that?”She curved her lips up in a smile. “ Don’t beat yourself up. We all crash out on some days. Yesterday was just yours.”My shoulders sank with guilt. “Still, I should
