LOGINEverett (Come Back... Be Here by Taylor Swift)
She's transferring.
Transferring.
I swear, this woman is going to be the death of me.
It's been two days since she told me about her plan, and I still haven't been able to get it out of my head.
I'm seated at the dining table, nursing a cup of hot coffee, while Hart is sprawled across the couch in the living room, laughing hysterically at something Cole just said.
Like a hyena.
Wicked witch.
I down the rest of my coffee in one gulp, ignoring the burn as it trails down my throat and settles somewhere in my stomach.
Then I rise.
I walk over and stop behind the couch. "Hart. Practice. Now."
Her brows pull together as she shoots upright, immediately glancing at the wall clock.
"Practice isn't until three. It's barely ten, Everett."
"We're practicing now." I fold my arms. "So get your little ass up."
Her mouth falls open, a short gasp escaping her before she glares at me.
She mutters something under her breath and stomps upstairs.
A few minutes later, she returns wearing a fitted tank top, black athletic shorts, and running shoes, her hair pulled into a messy ponytail.
One more thing she's wearing? A scowl.
She's pissed.
Good.
Without saying another word, I turn toward the back of the house, ignoring Cole and Harper's amused, watchful gazes.
Spencer is out. He left early this morning to deal with some personal business.
The back door is just past the kitchen, opening directly onto the backyard.
I hold it open for Hart when we reach it. Instead, she shoves my hand away, then slams the door in my face.
I stare at it.
A second later, it opens again and she steps outside, closing it behind her.
I blink. "..." Okay.
The backyard is probably my favorite part of this house.
The entire space is fenced in, with a proper volleyball court taking up most of the lawn. I had it built back when I first moved in, complete with a regulation-height net, court markings, and enough space around it to actually train without worrying about breaking a window.
I walk over to the ball cart, grab a volleyball, and toss it to Hart.
"Stay there. I'll take the other side."
Before I can even take a step, she ducks under the net and marches to the opposite side. Then she plants her feet firmly on the ground and folds her arms.
I raise a brow, a small smile pulling at my mouth.
Oh.
"Ready, Hart?"
She glares at me.
Okay.
"Hit me with your best shot."
She tosses the ball into the air and serves.
Slam. I dig it and send it back.
"Why are you angry?"
She digs and spikes. "You know why."
Fair. Telling her she wasn't a volleyball player wasn't my finest moment. Neither was going silent in that truck.
We keep at it, the ball snapping back and forth between us. After a while, I say it.
"I'm sorry."
She serves the ball and I catch it. I duck under the net to her side.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean that..." I move in closer until our breaths mingle, both a little uneven.
I cup her cheek with my free hand and rub it gently with my thumb. "I'm sorry, my Heart."
"Your ass," she fires.
And my gaze, ever the traitor, abandons her face and drops straight to her behind. "...It's not little."
It really isn't. She has the finest ass. I mean, not that Hart's ass is big, but it's not small either. Her curves are to die for.
When I look back at her face, she's wearing that smug little smile.
Caught.
"What?" I smile.
"Nothing." She pauses, studying me for a moment. "But why have you been so... on the edge lately?"
My smile disappears.
I let the ball drop and bounce away.
"Because I'm sad, Hart."
Her expression softens.
I step closer and pull her into my arms. "Can you not leave me?"
Too much. That was too much.
I hold her tighter before I can think better of it. "The scholarship... can't you stay at Gladdis? I need you here."
I search her eyes.
"I..." Just as she opens her mouth to speak, the door swings open.
"Ev! You have a guest," Harper calls out.
I frown and turn back to face Amelia.
"Go on." I nudge her. "We'll talk later. Go attend to your guest." She smiles.
I'm quiet for a while. "Okay." I kiss her hand.
With that, I lead the way inside.
And the moment I see who's waiting in the living room, I stop dead.
"Hello, Everett." Rachel Lancaster flashes me a smile.
Excuse me?
Amelia (Lover by Taylor Swift)It's been two days since the game—two solid days since Everett has been unreachable. He left with his parents under the guise of seeing them off... and never came back. And for two nights now, I've been sleeping in his bed, drowning in his shirts, and inhaling the scent of him just to fall asleep.Every hour, I dial his number. Switched off. Voicemail. Switched off. Every. Damn. Time.I don't know why he's doing this to me. I can't think straight, can't eat, can't do anything right. No one knows where he is—even his friends are worried sick. He just… vanished.Right now, I'm in class. Yet I'm not. My body is in the lecture hall, but my mind is somewhere else entirely. It's funny how, within the span of one month, someone can grow so deeply into you. This stopped being likeness a long time ago. I don't just like Everett.I love him.God help me, I love him so much, it’s driving insane. My phone chimes in my bag and I tug it out. Harper."Lia! Everett's h
EverettTwo days after rushing back to our hometown because of Mr. Edward, Heart and I return to Oakswood. The old champ’s much better now, plus he has Ms. Valerie by his side—especially now that he seems to have opened up his heart to her. They’re both good people... no doubt their union will be lovely.I pray the same for Heart and I too. There’s only a couple of days left till the championships begin, where all six universities from the four cities will be competing, and it’ll run for three days—ten matches in total. My girlfriend’s been killing it. Back to back training. She’s been so devoted and dedicated to this sport and now I’m so certain she was made for Volleyball. For her to have gotten this good within the space of—what—three weeks? That’s an MVP right there.Even as soon as we arrived home, earlier, she nudged me straight to the court for training. And now, we’ve rounded up three sessions and are heading back inside.“But babe,” Heart calls as I take two bottles of water
Amelia (Habits by Genevieve Stokes)Now, I’m not a nerd—not even close—but I’ve know this quote by Edward Murphy since I was ten, when Dad taped it to the fridge under a pizza magnet. If everything seems to be going well, you obviously don’t know what’s going on.I used to laugh. Then, two years later, the night Mum went into labor, it stopped being funny.I squint my eyes open at the sound of my phone ringing. Blindly, I reach out from underneath the sheets and pat along the bedside drawer for my phone. Upon feeling it, I take it and swipe the answer icon groggily.I place the phone to my ear without saying anything.Three seconds pass and my eyes widen at once, all residue of sleep fleeing my body.I jump up from the bed and hurry out of the bedroom.Everett's calling me but I'm so... disoriented.Oh God, no.My hands are shaking as I shuffle through my wardrobe and throw on any clothes I can find."Babe, what's wrong? What's the matter?" Everett barges in, his voice filled with con
Amelia (Willow by Taylor Swift)Everett's eyes lock on mine. That smirk tugs at his lips—that smirk—but he obeys, sinking onto the edge of the bed, his gaze dragging down my entire body. Head. Shoulders. The swell of my breasts, where my nipples have already tightened into hard peaks, shamelessly visible through the lace. Down the dip of my waist, the curve of my hips, my bare thighs."Fuck," he curses under his breath, settling his hands behind him on the bed.I catwalk to him in a slow and deliberate manner, and settle on my knees between his legs. I unzip his shorts and free him, my fingers tracing the hot, hard length of him lazily. He exhales sharply, abs tightening beneath the singlet. "You're killing me."I smile innocently, pressing a soft kiss to his thigh. "Patience, Cap." He groans. My thumb brushes over him slowly and his head tips back, a hiss slipping through his teeth. His hands twitch behind him and I can tell he's dying to grab me, to take control. But he doesn't. He
Amelia (Enchanted by Taylor Swift)It’s game day.The moment we pull into Pitchers Arena, I want to throw up.Not because I'm sick.Well... Maybe a little. I mean, there are people everywhere.Students are packed into the stands, waving banners and screaming like their lives depend on it.I used to be one of them... cheering and fangirling. As I look around, my chest unsettles more. These people are so many. It’s quite overwhelming. So this is how the view usually is from down here... The noise, the lights...And then I see the giant PITCHERS ARENA sign hanging above the opposite side of the court.Oh, shit. This is actually happening. My first official game.I tighten my grip around my water bottle, swallowing with great difficulty.“Breathe, Heart.”I glance sideways.Everett. He’s looking at me, dressed in his jersey, his number 4 stretched across his back.“I am breathing.”“You're holding your breath.”“Nah.”He raises a brow, closing the space between us.Fine.I exhale slowly.
Amelia (Paper Rings by Taylor Swift)Ever since I informed my boyfriend that I’d changed my mind about leaving Gladdis, he’s been drilling me with training sessions back to back. And when I say drilling, I mean drilling.I barely finish one session before he’s already planning the next one.Apparently, having a boyfriend who happens to be the captain of the men’s volleyball team comes with its own special kind of suffering. But hey, I’m not complaining.Okay... maybe a little.By the way, everyone on campus has now officially confirmed we're together because apparently, Everett and I have forgotten what privacy is. We're always in each other's faces. Literally. And yes, the girls still give me death stares. Some have suddenly decided they want to be my best friends, while a suspicious number of guys have also discovered my existence. I don't care.Well... Mostly.I’ve officially joined the women’s volleyball team, too.Trust me, it hasn’t been easy. Those girls are insanely energetic,
