It was a cold and dark night. Theo was nowhere to be seen, and a howl came from behind the house. Diane and I had no idea what was happening but one of us had to take action. I took a torch, and a shovel from the fireplace and headed out the back.
I moved cautiously due to circumstances. How the hell did someone successfully come into the compound with his dog? I kept thinking of possible scenarios as I went forward. The more I walked, the more I saw how forest-like his house looked. Then I heard the howl again. I listened for a moment and went in the direction of the sound. If there is someone there, would this shovel do the trick, or am I'm just walking to my doom?I kept moving deeper as I hoped Diane had called for help just in case it was something I couldn't handle. As I moved, I realized that it got more quiet than usual, which was suspicious. "Who's there?" I pointed towards the trees and turned around. "You better come out now before the cops get here, I might just let you go," I started, but still no answer.I took a step forward and then I heard it, an animal-like growl. This time I was sure it was close by. I gripped my shovel tighter, waiting for it to come out. I spent the next few seconds preparing myself mentally, but no amount of time could have prepared me for what I saw.I heard the growl again and saw it come out slowly with golden eyes and dark brown fur. It continued to growl as it prepared to attack. It was a bloody wolf, the type you only saw from a distance or on television, but here I was standing less than twelve feet from it. I slowly began to retreat as it came closer.Damn it, is this how it all ends? How the hell am I going to fight against a wolf? I tried to think of ways to escape but to no avail. The only way would have been to climb one of the trees but I couldn't turn my back on this beast.Just then it lunged closer with its teeth ready to rip me apart. I stretched my hand forward and somehow managed to block its attack with the shovel. It dragged the shovel away with its teeth as the impact pushed me to the ground. I quickly got on my knees and blocked my face with my arms as I saw it approach again."Argh!" I yelled as it bit my right hand. I suddenly remembered the torch I held and smashed it on its head. It pulled back for a few seconds but it was long enough so I started for the nearest tree. I had already reached the nearest branch but my hands were too weak so I slipped.I groaned as I hit the floor with my injured arm, but I couldn't just stay put so I ran. It caught up with me and this time the wolf aimed for my thighs. "Arghhh!" I tried pushing it away but to no avail. I had already said my prayers, just waiting for it to end my pain, Oddly, it stopped.I raised my head just in time to see a bigger wolf approach. It kept growling at ... the other wolf? I looked behind to see a once-aggressive wolf looking scared. Why is it retreating?I started to feel dizzy and I struggled to push myself away from where they were but failed. I was too weak and I knew I lost a lot of blood. I was about to give up and lay completely flat on the floor when I saw something attack the bigger wolf.Sounds of a struggle between them surrounded the area but I was sure what I saw wasn't human. The other wolf went in their direction so I made one last effort to escape. Unfortunately, I couldn't walk properly so I leaned against the nearest tree, struggling to breathe.Even in my current state, I saw how the unknown figure dropped one of the wolves a few feet away from me and approach me. "He...lp, help... me, please." I had no idea who she was but I knew what I needed."Shh," she whispered and knelt beside me. She took my hand and observed my wound. "So you're the chosen one huh? I mean this is definitely an unpredictable occurrence, me meeting you here, and you do have a powerful aura around you even while you're hurt.""It's been decades since I turned a human. I guess the universe is on my side today," her lips curved into a smile as she came closer to my face. "I only came here to weaken the wolf pack by taking one of the alphas' son, but this?" She chuckled and grabbed my neck with her other hand. "Jackpot." She whispered and leaned in.I flinched as I felt her on my neck. My lips parted but made no sound, I was too tired to move. Her bite became less painful as seconds went by so I relaxed into her grip. Many things went through my head at that moment. Why is she able to bite into my skin? Why does my neck feel hot all of a sudden? Who is she?"I have to say, you're really lucky," she breathed on my neck as she pulled away from me. "Had you not been the chosen one, you would have been one tasty dinner," she licked the remaining blood on her lips.My head began to swirl and I hit the ground. I stared at her as she got up and rearranged her clothes. "Well, let the battle begin."And then there was complete darkness."Ughh," I groaned as I tried to open my eyes. My body felt pain all over, something didn't feel right. I sat up and opened my eyes slowly, luckily the curtains were closed. I looked at my arm and leg, bandaged completely, but all of a sudden it didn't hurt.I loosened the bandage to see the wolf bite but there was nothing. "What the..." I mumbled to myself in shock. I loosened the bandages on my leg and saw the same thing. Was it all a dream? I looked at my environment as I thought to myself. I had been here before, it was Theo's house. The room was properly furnished but it was dusty, just like I left it.I stood up and walked to the mirror, I was wearing only shorts because of my wound. All I could see were the scars of the bite, no blood, no open wound.I turned sideways as the door opened and I came face to face to face with a green-eyed woman. "Oh, you're up," she said as she looked down at me. "Apparently everywhere," she smiled and met my eyes again. I quickly grabbed some shee
"What the hell were you thinking?" I could hear Theo scream from the other side of the room. "She's going to kill you when she wakes up! You just..." He stopped as we heard noises. "Hey guys, can you let me in? I brought breakfast so my hands are occupied." Every word Diane spoke brought fear to my body as I stood above Maxine's body."Shit! Help me take her to the bathroom," Theo whispered as he came closer. "Hurry up!" He whisper-yelled. For a moment I couldn't move, the words kept repeating in my head.I killed her. I killed someone. I'm a murderer."Hey guys, I'm still out here." She kept calling us from behind the door. What in the world was happening to me? I asked myself as I wondered what Diane would do if she found out about what I just did. I finally got myself to move and we took Maxine to the bathroom.Trying to put my fear aside, I took a deep breath and walked to the door. Luckily I drained her blood completely so there were no obvious stains on the floor. Shaking that d
I felt her lips tightly pressed on mine, soft and yet controlling. I found myself moving to the rhythm of the kiss as she grabbed my face, forcing me closer to her. I had never kissed a girl like this before, sure I was bigger than her in size but fuck I felt so inferior. With her left hand, she touched my thigh, tracing upwards, slowly, getting closer and closer to my..."Shit!” I mumbled as I pushed her away. Breathing rapidly, I rubbed my hands vigorously against my lips as if trying to erase the kiss. I watched her add distance between us as she grinned from ear to ear, looking accomplished. "What games, are you playing?" I asked as I gathered my breath."The elders will be here soon, you should get dressed," She said to me as her eyes raked through my body. She started walking out of the bathroom and went straight for the bedroom door as I followed behind her. Turning back, she glanced hungrily at me once more. "Things are going to get rough from now on, but if you want a good ti
MAXINE povI heard footsteps as someone walked down the stairs. Without giving it a second thought, I pushed Russell to the couch and tightened my grip. If that was the female, I needed to figure out a way to keep her away without making her suspicious. The mutt was supposed to take her away before the elders arrive, but I knew she would return eventually. The poor girl seemed to have feelings for my new puppet, but once i make something mine, i never give it away.I looked back as she came in sight, I watched her smile fade and lines appear on her forehead as she watched me strangle him. "Russell!" She yelled as she ran toward me. I looked down at him as I strangled him. He should know that I let him kill me the first time for a reason."What are you doing? Let go!" She continued to irritate me. She held my hands and tried to pull me away but couldn't. After failing continuously, she turned back to stare at the awful looking mutt. "Theo do something, he's not breathing!"Russell clos
Maxine's pov."So he's a vampire?" She adjusted herself on the couch opposite me. I sat in the living room with the three of them. Rank three, Rank seven, and Rank two. I never expected to see Selena, especially after what happened between us. It was safe to say I was the reason she joined them. When becoming an elder, it was important to cut off all ties with friends and family to protect the authenticity of the law. They had to go through extreme training just to get the last rank and then build their way up. But love, just as dangerous as it is beautiful, started causing problems, especially with me. Selena fell in love with one of them and she started resisting my orders. And when I found out, I took care of it in the only way I knew how.Usually, when an elder dies off or gets killed as weaklings that they are, the training starts and only one can be chosen. She should've bowed down to me seeing that if I hadn't killed her stupid boyfriend, she would have never become an elder.
RussellI opened my eyes after what felt like a second. Diane had only been yelling my name a moment ago but now, it was quiet. I felt excited for some reason but my eyes could only see the darkness."Let the world domination commence," I didn't need to think before I knew who that was. Slowly my eyes became clearer and I could see a figure above me. I could smell her blood, I had gotten enough by now to be able to differentiate it from others.I tried to reach for what I thought was her body, but I was disappointed as I could still not fully control my body. "Easy there, you've had enough of me today. You'll get to have me for as much as you want when you come with me," she stated.'Come with me? She wanted me to go with her, a female who I had never met up until the night I got attacked. Someone who only after hours of being around her, had caused more drama than I had experienced in over two decades."What do you want me for?" I desperately asked. It didn't make sense that such a s
Voices erupted from the crowd as Maxine addressed them. "No more lurking in the shadows to feed!" She yelled. I could almost feel how passionate she was about what she was talking about. We stood on higher grounds alongside Matthew. She must hold him in high regard."We can turn anyone we want!" She continued and initiated another applause from them."With this man?" I followed the sound of a voice to a corner of the room. It suddenly became quiet as he spoke. "I cannot even feel any aura of power. What is he exactly?" He began to take steps toward us and the crowd gave way for him. From the way he was respected I guessed he was someone extremely powerful. "If he really is the chosen one, he should be able to at least give something to make me believe his power."He was already standing so close to me. The moment he came close, I could feel his power somehow. "Do not forget Chris that many of us give off no energy or power. Take for example," Maxine moved closer to him. "I, the current
One leg after the other, one puff after a huff, I kept running deeper and deeper into the supposed woods. After what seemed like forever, I stopped. How the hell was I supposed to find anything in such a huge space? I placed my hand on a tree in an attempt to rest. I just couldn't stop, that would mean letting those people die.It was nerve-wracking to watch Maxine fall to the floor, even when she didn't die. Taking a human life would be much more traumatic. Humans huh? I had already started addressing them like the being that I was. A vampire, a killer, a blood-sucking creature. Of all supernatural's why did I have to be the one I hated so much? Blood, the sight of blood terrified me. But now I'm forced to feed on the same thing I hate. Feeding on Maxine not only made me feel alive, but I felt good about it too. The sensation was nothing I had ever experienced. Just then I heard a branch snap. "That must be one of them," I said out loud. I had already gathered enough strength. I ra
