Killer eyes

"What the hell were you thinking?" I could hear Theo scream from the other side of the room. "She's going to kill you when she wakes up! You just..." He stopped as we heard noises.

"Hey guys, can you let me in? I brought breakfast so my hands are occupied." Every word Diane spoke brought fear to my body as I stood above Maxine's body.

"Shit! Help me take her to the bathroom," Theo whispered as he came closer. "Hurry up!" He whisper-yelled. For a moment I couldn't move, the words kept repeating in my head.

I killed her. I killed someone. I'm a murderer.

"Hey guys, I'm still out here." She kept calling us from behind the door. What in the world was happening to me? I asked myself as I wondered what Diane would do if she found out about what I just did. I finally got myself to move and we took Maxine to the bathroom.

Trying to put my fear aside, I took a deep breath and walked to the door. Luckily I drained her blood completely so there were no obvious stains on the floor. Shaking that despicable thought off my head, I opened the door.

"Why the hell are you opening the door?" She yelled.

"What do you mean, was I not supposed to?" I asked, confused.

"What I mean is, you should be resting! Theo you idiot," she tilted her head and looked behind me. "Why are you standing by the bathroom door so weirdly when you should be taking care of Russell?"

"Sorry, I wasn't think—"

"Shut up!" She interrupted Theo and stared at me with her lips pouted. "Go lie down, right now!" She ordered. Of course, I did as she said, she tends to get extremely aggressive when upset. Especially when she starts pouting.

I followed her orders and went straight to the bed not forgetting to pretend to be in pain. Once I sat down, she placed the tray on top of the bedside drawer. I looked at the tray containing pancakes and orange juice, with honey by the side, my favorite breakfast to have.

"I'm glad you're both getting along again, I missed this," she said with a smile on her face. "I was so scared when I woke up and heard you were attacked by a wild dog! I mean, where the hell did they come from?" she started making funny gestures with her hands. "Everything has been... a lot to take in. First, we thought Theo was kidnapped, then we heard a howl." She peeped at Theo.

"You know the strangest thing happened when you left," she moved closer to me. What was she talking about? Did she perhaps find out what was going on? I glanced at Theo and he raised his eyebrows as we spoke with our eyes. "When I got to the basement... I... fell asleep."

"You fell asleep?" I asked, confused. Besides calling wolves 'wild dogs', this was one of the few weird things Diane said today. Was it even possible to sleep during such a crisis? I remembered how stressed out Diane was last night and there's no way someone can fall asleep in such a situation unless they had a medical condition which as her close friend I knew she didn't have.

"Exactly, strange isn't it," she lifted her head. "But anyways, I'm just happy you're ok now. You have breakfast, I'll go talk to Maxine about the medications." I watched as she stood up to leave after giving me a pitiful 'I'm sorry this happened to you' smile.

Once she left the room we both got reminded of the pressing issue, Maxine. I got up to lock the door while Theo went into the bathroom. I'd only known Maxine for a while but all her actions were questionable. Theo seemed fine though, he only reacted when I bit Maxine, and not in the way I would if that happened right in front of me.

I walked into the bathroom where a lifeless Maxine lay on the floor and a chill Theo stood. "You seem calmer than you were a few minutes ago, what's going on in that head of yours?" I asked as I tried putting my hands in my pocket forgetting I was wearing only briefs.

"Let's just say it's the calm before the storm. I promise it won't be so peaceful when she wakes up." Seeing Theo so calm made the situation tenser. He was the type of person who was extremely relaxed in even the worst situation.

Even then, knowing I didn't kill her gave me a sense of relief. I had no idea who she was, but this wasn't the sort of introduction that wasn't something to be happy about. "You think I can borrow some pants? I didn't exactly plan for a sleepover."

"Sure, give me a sec." After Theo left, I turned back to face Maxine. She still looked as pale as she was even when conscious. I'd watched a couple of vampire-related movies and I guess this was normal, but then, I was a vampire how could I feed on her? I knelt and leaned closer to her neck to get a better look at the bite marks I gave her.

Just as I got closer, the marks slowly started to fade. "What the..." I pulled my face back in shock. She was awake. "How long have you been conscious?"

I asked as I tried to make sense of the situation.

"How long have you been eating me with your eyes?" She answered in a low tune. She was unlike anyone I had ever seen. I continued to stare at her wondering if all vampires were that hot. "Although I love being the center of attention, I don't think I'll survive if you keep staring" She smiled wide enough to split her face in two.

"I'm not—"

"What? Not Staring?" She interrupted. Somehow she managed to corner me to the wall. It was my first time seeing someone move so fast with such a small figure. "I think you are now." She whispered.

That was the last thing I heard before she pressed her lips on mine.
