"Ughh," I groaned as I tried to open my eyes. My body felt pain all over, something didn't feel right. I sat up and opened my eyes slowly, luckily the curtains were closed. I looked at my arm and leg, bandaged completely, but all of a sudden it didn't hurt.
I loosened the bandage to see the wolf bite but there was nothing. "What the..." I mumbled to myself in shock. I loosened the bandages on my leg and saw the same thing. Was it all a dream? I looked at my environment as I thought to myself. I had been here before, it was Theo's house. The room was properly furnished but it was dusty, just like I left it.I stood up and walked to the mirror, I was wearing only shorts because of my wound. All I could see were the scars of the bite, no blood, no open wound.I turned sideways as the door opened and I came face to face to face with a green-eyed woman. "Oh, you're up," she said as she looked down at me. "Apparently everywhere," she smiled and met my eyes again. I quickly grabbed some sheets and covered up."Who are you?" My head began to throb so I sat down. After a few seconds, I looked up and saw her hands crossed in front of her chest. She looked extremely young with strawberry blond hair and an extremely curvy figure."You've healed. I wonder what it is you would become. I've never seen anyone who's been bitten by a werewolf and a vampire. It better be worth my time because I canceled my plans because of this," she grumbled. "I'm Maxine, I'm sure you remember me from last night."Last night? What happened last night? Werewolves and Vampires? I suddenly remembered how I got attacked and a mysterious woman stopped the wolves. I stood up when I remembered how she also bit my neck. "What did you do to me? My body doesn't feel the same. How did I heal so fast, it doesn't make any sense I..." I stopped as I tried to make sense of the situation. No matter how much I tried to understand, I still had no clue. Footsteps suddenly echoed from outside the room. "Your female is on her way here, I think you should first cover up those wounds. Unless you want her to find out about all this," she gestured to my wound. I took the bandages and wrapped them around my scars again. If I could feel this confused, I'm sure Diane would have a heart attack. The door swung open and a worried Diane came in. "Russell? Oh my God, I was so worried, I'm so glad you're awake," she hurriedly came closer and squeezed my body. As she came closer, I felt a sudden urge to go closer to her neck. I'd been around Diane for years but she never had this smell on her. My jaw began to hurt and after a while, she let go and started at me as she held my shoulders."Are you ok? You were hurt pretty bad, come sit down," she led me to the bed. I looked behind her and saw Maxine, she had a very unpleasant smile on her face when she saw me hold my jaw. What is she up to? She walked closer to us and held Diane."I'm sure you're worried about him, how about you get him something to eat," Maxine raised Diane from the bed. "He must be extremely hungry," she dragged on. "What about–”"Ouch!" I felt a sharp pain in my chest as Diane yelled in pain. I looked closely and saw her forearm bleed."I'm sorry, I forgot about the fruit knife I held," Maxine peeked at me as she spoke. I kept on staring at the blood and slowly lost control of myself. I stood up and started walking toward them. "Come on, let's wash this up."The room was filled with silence as they stepped out. Nothing was making sense anymore. I needed help, I wasJust about to have a taste of her blood. The door opened again but this time, Theo came in. I was hungry but what I wanted wasn't pancakes or cereal. I wanted something else, but what? "You ok? Sorry about what happened last night," he scratched his head and looked away as if in shame. "I know you have a lot of questions, so before Diane comes back..." I saw his mouth move but all I could hear were pulsing sounds. My head began to spin so I had to kneel to maintain balance. "Hey! What's wrong?" Theo came closer to me. I was too confused and hardly noticed Maxine come in, then I felt it again. The sharp pain I had when Diane bled, I looked up just in time to see her remove the knife from her neck. I felt a surge of energy and went to her, more quickly than I usually moved.I grabbed her by the shoulders aggressively and started at the wound. I struggled to keep myself away. "Yes, do it, I know you want to," she whispered as she looked me in the eye."What are you doing Maxine?" Theo asked as he approached us."Stay away you mutt, he could kill you right now if you come closer," she said with a smile, not taking her eyes from mine for a second. She touched her wound with her fingertips and placed it on my lips.My urge grew stronger and I bit her on the neck.Strangely she moaned, and not because she was in pain. I kept drinking until I couldn't feel her grip on my arms anymore. I came back to my senses and stopped, but by then it was too late. Maxine crashed on the floor lifeless as I let go of her.Just then I looked at Theo's shocked face and stared back at her body. At that moment, it felt like I walked into a horror movie, and I would have loved to get out of it.RussellI couldn't tell how long the journey to Cuba took, as I was too occupied with the thoughts in my head to bother about time. It was even easier keeping to myself since Diane was still pissed off at me and was concentrating on her laptop. Theo was equally occupied with some work files. At some point, I might have drifted into a restless sleep. I was awoken by the air hostess who brought lunch."Hi sir," she called softly to get my attention.Grumbling a response, I pulled off the headset plugged to my ears, as I checked her out. She held a glass tray and seemed to be saying something that I wasn't listening to. Her skirt was neatly pressed to her curvy skin and stopped above her knees in the typical hostess fashion. Her tucked-in, collared top had the same white as her teeth. The bronze-colored lipstick shaping her lips seemed to glitter when she smiled. The details of the human standing before me weren't helping the feeling of hunger that had suddenly consumed me. The voice wa
RussellI took a seat at one of the chairs at the back of the conference room. I could feel the weight of skeptical eyes on me. The hushed whispers among coworkers hinted at the exact thoughts in everyone's mind: was this reinstatement merely a result of favoritism, or did I truly deserve a second chance? And I was almost completely certain it was the former.Their murmuring came to an end as Theo walked in, taking his place at the head of the table. It was a rare sight—all the chairs now filled, a stark departure from the usual emptiness that had defined my time at this workplace. Sunlight streamed through the windows, casting a warm glow and ushering in a shift in the room's atmosphere."I'm sure my Uncle was not the type to beat around during important meetings, hence I will go straight to the point," he adjusted himself on the chair. "I went through the company records and while so many products are doing exceedingly well, I noted that the face scrub that was released roughly two
My body dangled out the window. Theo held on to my arm like his life depended on it. "Let go, Theo!" He ignored me as he pulled me back into his room. I looked at my best friend. Seconds passed but no words were shared. He took one look at me and he knew. "I will never let them," he mumbled. I hated that he knew me so much, that he knew how cowardly I was. "With my uncle unconscious I have a say as the head of the Anderson pack. All they can do is keep an eye on you, and as long as you follow the rules, they'll stay far away," he placed his hand on my shoulder. I turned to look out the window and she was already gone. I probably shouldn't have trusted her in the first place. But when I couldn't see her I felt a sharp pain in my chest. Was I developing feelings for her? I had no idea but without a doubt. There was something magnetic pulling me to Maxine, and the next time we meet, I might not be able to resist.MAXINE'S POV"That little prick!" I yelled with gritted teeth. I was so c
It was 7:30 p.m. The air tickled my face as I moved forward. Once again I found myself in Theo's house. I needed to let him know what I had just done. I let out a sigh as I rang the bell. Besides the fact that I had to tell him what I did to his uncle, I wanted him to help me, I trained for almost a month but I still had no clue on how to control myself when I needed to. No matter how hard I try, whenever I hear her name...I lose control of myself."What are you doing here?" his voice brought me back to my senses."I don't know what's going on. I...I can't control myself.""What the hell man? I thought that was Maxine," he took a pause and raked me with his eyes. My shirt was spotted with blood. "F**k," he sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, pushing it away from his forehead. They must have called to tell him what happened to his uncle."Is he..." My heart thumped in my chest. I had nightmares for days after the hunt. Adding another person to my list of victims was not someth
My shirt adhered to my body like a second skin. There was no source of fresh air in the parking garage. Surely, I knew Mr Dean would throw a fit since I couldn't make the one week deadline but I never thought he would actually fire me.It was almost five and I stood by Mr Dean Anderson's car, sweaty and extremely frustrated. Every sound made me flinch. If Diane found me, she would kill me. It was bad enough that we lied to her, disregarding her was way worse. But I just couldn't bring myself to say anything. What would I even say? 'oh hey Diane, funny story, the night we went to see Theo I got bit by a vampire and became one. I'm also supposed to fulfill a prophecy but, no big deal'? Yeah that sounds stupid. My brows subtly hinted at surprise as Mr. Dean finally graced me with his presence. "I thought I told you to leave my building Russell," he said haughtily while walking towards me. Well, technically to his car."Sir please just give me one more chance, I...""Why are you always be
After several turns and guesses, I opened the 5th door for the night. Maxine gave the order that I was supposed to stay in her room and I had to obey. Memories of the hunt flashed through my eyes as frequently as I blinked and I was getting suffocated. Finally, I found the room, and all I wanted to do was wash off the evidence of the experience and feel normal. I walked into the bathroom which was at the corner of the room. I weighed my choices and got in the shower. I didn't have extra clothing but I was comfortable with using the bathrobe until I found something else. Getting out of my blood-stained clothes was my top priority at that moment. They screamed, bawled, ran, and jumped, just to get away from me. My body had embraced the darkness and I couldn't get out of it. There was no going back from this. How would Theo and Diane see me after I'd done this? "Fvcking hell!" I murmured as the water ran through my back. I took the bar of soap and scrubbed so hard I began to feel pain.A
