THIRD PERSON

WAKING UP TO the sight of Kadja with all her enticing beauty seemed like an impossiblility. Something that had zero chances of happening but here Calvin lay, sprawled out beside her sleeping form. It wasn't like they had been intimate, but he would gladly take whatever was thrown at him.

A few hours ago, he had found out that Kadja was in fact a very profound drunk. She downed several bottles of rum so steadily that even the tough men in the crew applauded her for her resistance while others feared for her health. Calvin sat in a corner watching her admirably until Oley convinced him to take some rum too.

Two bottles in and he could literally feel his brain cells dying. Kadja's velvety laughter sounded from his right and he couldn't help but release a laugh of his own. Calvin stood up shakily and wobbled his way over to where she stood oblivious of the lust filled eyes of the men on crew that focused on her.

"Hey lad! Don't tell me you got drunk just after two bottles" she said in a sing song voice upon sighting Calvin. The corners of her eyes crinkled in a smile before she took a swig of the bottle in her right hand. More alchohol

"No of course I'm not" Calvin denied trying to sound manly. He hated how much he lacked muscles and a manly physique.

A chilled wind blew past them and he watched Kadja clutch her purple robe around her form. Her jet black curls framed her face loosely and he smiled wistfully. This was the warmest he had ever seen her.

The air carried with it a chilled hum. A promise of the cold that was soon to come and ice that could never be thawed. They were entering the more dangerous parts of the water and fear clawed through the less brave men on the crew. Some scuttled around fearfully before deciding to go down to their cabin below.

Here, it was survival of the fittest.

"Let me take you to your room" Calvin offered Kadja who looked deep in thought. The wind carried along his timid voice like a sweet scent wafting through the air.

"Sure" She obliged and he slung an arm around her lower back to hold her up. She giggled distantly as if remembering a memory and envy simmered within Calvin.

He took her to her cabin and lay her on her bed. When he made a move to leave, she held him back by his robe and that was all the  reassurance Calvin needed.

Calvin made a move to touch her beautifully rounded cheeks. Her puple eyes snapped open and Calvin recoiled timidly.

"Careful lad" She hinted

"Stop referring to me like a child all the time. Just how old are you? A hundred?"

"Hush. I have seen and experienced far many things than you. You are but a young cub to me" She said now sitting up.

"Then teach me. I need you to"

Kadja looked at her laps like they were the most interesting things in the world and a light blush stained her cheeks.

"You say this every lifetime R- Calvin"

"What do you mean?" Calvin asked curiously.

"Nevermind."

"Tell me, what do you want out of life?" Calvin inched closer to her. He felt an undying need to know all the many secrets she held within her.

"I want happiness. I want to be free and I need my sister to free me from this curse"

"Your sister cursed you? What kind of sister would do that? I read a certain book about a lady who cursed her younger sister but it doesn't add up unless- you are that princess! Are you still searching for your prince?"

"Not quite but-" Kadja looked him in the eyes and a sudden sense of deja-vu filled him. Like this had happened before.

"Tread carefully lad" her voice was back to being cold and this time she stood up from the bed leaving Calvin to wonder why she had a sudden change in mood.

"You look awfully like the twins don't you? Same hair, same eyes and same aura. I wonder if you all are related someway?" A coy smiled played on her lips.

"What are you trying to say?"

"Oh nothing. Nothing at all". Then she walked out of the room, quickly changing to the form  of a cat as she usually did before walking out of the room.

Kadja was a well known shape shifter. She could take on the shape and characteristics of any animal she wished. However, she couldn't stay like that for more than seven hours a day so inadvertently, she would have to revert back to her human form.

She knew the lustful looks that were thrown at her every now and then like firewood into fire. Most times, she felt guilty because she knew that if her lover were here, he wouldn't like it one bit. As it were, he was indeed here but was unaware of the memories they felt in the past, the places they went, the things they did. Only the feelings remained and they were way diluted.

When she found out he had been reincarnated once again, this time as the prince, she made a decision to pledge her loyalty to the King. Anything to be close to her lover and protect him. It was like a breath of fresh air when she saw him again. Slight changes in the hair and eyes but his soul remained the same. He would die, but he would return.

Time and time again.

Water splashed violently against the body of the ship. The waters were troubled and this was usually a warning sign. The waters had a mind of its own, a soul, thoughts and wills. People saw the water as wicked while others considered it calming.

But that wasn't quite the truth. The water was cold, uncaring and unending. It went down to the core, every droplet, every puddle, every splash. An excellent trickster that's what it was. It held the ability to ice itself, and if it so wished, It could kill. The waves went high and came down with a deafening slap. The ship rocked to the side forcefully, trying to resist the waters in the little way it could. It was no use though.

The water rose up angrily again, the sound within itself threatening the crew men but kadja was least worried. They had the best weilder there was aboard. She watched as his eyes shone a crystal blue as he talked to the water in calmly in an ancient language.

His arm outstretched, and a warm blue light came from his palms. He was the water himself. He felt every torrent, every wave, every movement and every droplet.

Each day, kadja understood more why the sun goddess had kept this one for herself.  Corey's capabilities were beyond any she had ever seen but his dark side was yet to be discovered by those around him. In the coming war, they were lucky to have Corey on thier side.

She remembered the day he was born. Red eyes and black writings along his arms and legs. The devil's spawn that's what he was. However, by some miracle the sun goddess was able to neutralize some if the negative power. Of course, she was the goddess of peace, growth and warmth afterall.

The water was calm now, purposefully moving the ship at an average speed. It was almost impossible to travel to another realm by sea because of the bitterness of the waters but thankfully, Corey was with them.

If you ever think for one second that water was just another liquid then you are greatly mistaken and far from the truth.

Kadja thought of what would happen in the future. A lot of lives will the lost, she could feel it. What bothered her most was the sudden feeling of cowardice that had snatched her heart since they set sail. She didn't know if she would ever be ready to face her sister again.

Most importantly, Corey the bastard child of her heartless sister will fight against his very own mother soon enough.

Interesting.
