9.

I COULD HEAR Calvin cursing harshly as he gently carried me in his arms. I winced when his arm brushed against the arrow that was still buried in my flesh.

"It hurts" I rasped in a croaky voice. "It hurts so bad"

I heard an explosion somewhere to the right and felt Calvin tremble.

"Oh fuck! The situation seems very serious. The trolls keep trooping in and it seems they want to capture King Charles. Corey is set on getting the information Charles has but I don't think we can win this. Most of our warriors are still yet to recover from the last battle we fought and then there's kira" Cal rushed in a breath. I couldn't see what was going on around me but it did sound pretty serious.

"Get the fucking arrow out of her-"

"Nobody's touching that arrow" Corey's authoritative voice cut off my sister's panic idea. "We have to leave now. There's no time for us to waste. I suspect they are after Charles but that doesn't mean they wouldn't capture you two if they get the chance to. They are too much to fight right now but six of my best warriors will hold them off while we pack the things we need" His voice was hard and determined.

"Are we running away? What of our people?"

"I am a king. I do not run away from challenges but even a blind man will see that we are at a disadvantage here. They are the utmost priority right now. Jacob has called for back up and soon, over a hundred of his best warriors will storm into the castle and finish off the rest of the trolls. I have ordered Belwinski to ready the ship for us. Pack all that you're going to need, Calvin will lead you to the ship. Do not come out of the ship once you get to it. I have a certain traitor to recapture"

Calvin went into action almost immediately, I could hear Kellyn's footsteps not to far behind. That was the last thing I heard before slipping into blackness.

"Gather some clothes, shoes, cloaks and every other important item while I'll go get some of my spell books. I'll meet you back here" Calvin ordered Kellyn as soon as they got to the room she and her twin sister shared.

Kellyn's eyes moved from side to side and her form shook with fear. Judging by what she just witnessed in the ball room, it was safe to assume she was terrified.

"Don't worry. I cast a protection spell on this wing of the castle. Just be quick" Calvin assured her and watched as she sagged against the door in relief before nodding her head. It was a lie of course but Calvin knew that the witches just outside the hall won't let any troll into this wing. They were more experienced and many of them knew some dark magic spells which although frowned upon, it was used for the purpose of protecting the king.

Calvin lay Kira on his bed as soon as he got into his room. His royal attire was soiled with her blood and he felt his lip twitch in disgust. She was loosing a lot of blood. He packed some of his clothes into an old blue box as well as his spell books. It would be a shame if he didn't carry those. He zipped up the box and went downstairs with Kira in his arms. As planned, he met Kellyn in front of her room door with two boxes beside her. He noticed tear stains on her cheek and she seemed fidgety.

"It'll be fine." Calvin said looking at her direction before leading her out of the hall.

"Kadja you will come with us" Calvin instructed as soon as he set his eyes on the ancient witch.

"I do not take orders from you prince. Has the king sent you?" Kadja purred her reply. She was one of the senior witches in the kingdom and the most feared in the three realms. Most times she acted weak and blind but Calvin knew better. She was sneaky and coy. Her eyes shone an unearthly purple as they moved from side to side. A seductress. With her pink full lips, high cheek bones and well pronounced curves. Nobody knew her purpose in life but legend has it that she's an ancient princess roaming the realms looking for her late husband's reincarnation. No one really knows.

"Then please. I need your help"

"Very well young lad" She said before turning into a purple cat and jumping down to where they stood. She walked towards them and touched him with her paw. He in turn held Kellyn's arms and in the wink of an eye, he found himself in the gigantic royal ship.

"Woah" Kellyn said as she looked around the ship. She now believed Corey was serious about teleportation being possible.

"Finally! We have been waiting." Cal said from behind them and they turned around to face him." We had to gather the cooks, some maids and about fifty of Jacob's men to travel with us.  The ship is well stocked and the number of trolls hace reduced drastically. Jacob will be in charge of the kingdom till we are back from Fae kingdom" Cal explained.

Just beside him stood a blonde girl. She looked young but also old at the same time. Like a wise old monk who was in a young body. She stood with confidence although her gray eyes seemed unseeing.

"Is this...No way!" Calvin exclaimed in shock and his expression was horrified. "Why her?"

"Because she's the most skilled healer I know that's why" Corey cut in sporting a bored expression. "If she tries to kill me again, I will lock her in the dungeons"

"Oh I'm so scared! You seem to have a thing for locking me in dungeons" The girl replied sarcastically.

"Bring the girl to me" She said rudely while raising an eyebrow. Kellyn took a closer look at her and noticed she was looking at an odd direction. No one was standing where she looked. It took some time for Kellyn to fully realise that the blonde girl was actually blind.

"Raekav be careful with her please. Don't do anything stupid. Keep your hatred for Corey completely out of this" Calvin pleaded solemnly before handing over Kira to Raekav. Corey narrowed his eyes at her as she reached for the arrow that was still imbedded in Kira.

"Hold your horses. I can't heal her with the arrow in. You all should stop looking at me like you want to devour me. I can practically feel your glares and that is just rude"

Everyone but Kellyn and Corey looked away from her. Kellyn stood at the ready to defend Kira against Raekav. Judging from the looks they gave Raekav, Kellyn suspected that she didn't have good history with the guys.

Raekav closed her eyes in concentration and kept her palms on the open injury. Light shone from her palms and she started murmuring sentences in a strange language. It seemed too surreal that Kellyn had to blink a couple of times to make sure she wasn't dreaming.

After a while of just staring at Raekav, Kellyn went over to where Calvin and Cal stood. Corey was still poised against the mast, carefully watching Raekav's movements. He seemed tense and a hopeful look flickered in his eyes when Kira stirred.

"Still, I believe these trolls were solely sent because of our threat to King Charles. How he was able to communicate with whoever is in charge is what i don't understand. Only people in this realm are able properly mind link and not even all of us can do that. Something big is brewing, I can feel it" Calvin said deep in thought.

"Me too. It will take about a month to get to the Fae kingdom and during this time, Corey decided him and I will take turns teaching the twins physical combat. They are too helpless"

"I support that. I have also brought along Kadja. These waters aren't safe and I know we will run into a lot of battles during our travel. Aside from that, I feel very disappointed at myself for not being able to hold my protective orb against dark magic. I read that trolls cannot practice dark magic. The arrow was only coated with dark magic by an expert weilder. If I am to face a dark magic user, I stand no chance. Kadja will help me sharpen my skills"

"Don't be too hard on yourself lad. You've done well for your age. Come nightfall we will need your Kadja's magic to help get answers from Charles. He is in the dungeon below."

"She's not mine" Calvin said although he blushed when he thought of having Kadja to himself. She was a true beauty and many a'times he imagined what it would be like to have her. He quickly shook his head to get rid of the thought.

"But she will help us"

The ocean they set sail on was connected to all the realms excluding earth. It was vast and dangerous. People died in it everyday as it was habitation to very many dangerous sea creatures with magic. They had just one month to get to the fae kingdom. One month before the real battle started. The fate of the realms rested in the hands of the goddesses who were yet to harness thier powers.

Kadja shook her head, a coy smirk playing on her lips. She took in the healing goddess and the fiesty twin sister. Even without anybody telling her, she knew.

These realms didn't stand a chance against her sister.

Or did they?
