IT ALL HAPPENED in a flash. One minute, my plate filled with white fluffy pancakes was neatly set on the counter, and the next minute Kellyn had already gobbled down five. I could've sworn I looked away for just a few seconds!. She didn't seem to mind though, she happily scarfed them down. At this point I was literally and physically scared of the monster she had become. The food monster who also happened to be my twin sister.

Oh the horror!

"Why thank you Kira" Kellyn said chirpily as she sauntered to the sitting room leaving me angry and disappointed. Angry at her for being so lazy and disappointed at myself for not contemplating her action sooner.

"Why do I get to do all the cooking when you obviously do majority of the eating?" I asked angrily. Blue-ish grey eyes Identical to mine glanced up at me almost immediately and I cringed in advance for the cringe worthy response I knew she would definitely retort back.

"Maybe because I do all the shopping. Did you think of that smartass?" A cocky smile was plastered on her face immediately after she said her stupid comeback. In her head, she probably thinks she could win an award for the best come back of the year. That's just how dumb Kellyn actually was.

"Hey! I am not dumb"

Hope Kellyn. Hope.

"Okay fine I'm sorry. Just make more pancakes and come join me in the sitting room"

I sighed and prepared the ingredients needed to make more pancakes for my sister and I. I knew all too well that Kellyn would rather die than cook with those hands.

You see, unlike every other normal person, Kellyn and I were quite different. We developed mysterious powers at the age of nine back when Mrs hale, the closest thing we had to a motherly figure was still alive. I remember her telling us not to tell anyone about these powers. To be very careful with the things we say to people and most importantly, she said and I quote " Don't ever get a tan". Of course she laughed off her last instruction, clutching her stomach tightly before releasing a croaky " I was just kidding"

Of course my sister toppled over with laughter after the scene but even up until now, I still don't understand what was so funny.

Sadly, Mrs hale died of cancer when we were thirteen and she was probably the only person who knew how we came to existence. We still didn't know where we actually came from or where our parents lived but we knew that certainly, Mrs hale wasn't our mother. Most times she seemed quite lonely staring afar off, lost in her own thoughts.

Fortunately, she left behind her medium sized house for us which is where we still live, working and fending for our needs. It wasn't that bad because sometimes we would have excess which would definitely go to the purchase of bags, shoes, clothing and even curtains when we were lucky. Sometimes I felt really eager to know what the future had in store for us.

So while Kellyn could freely get into people's head and read their thoughts, which she ultimately used to her advantage, I on the other hand could control the weather. We learnt after some time that the weather changes in accordance to my mood which is the major reason i worked in a weather forecast group where i was always rewarded for my good and accurate results. But Hey, I am basically the weather so my results are always accurate. However the downside is that when i say its going to be a sunny day,

It must be a sunny day

And you don't know how difficult that is when you lived with someone like Kellyn!.

Personally I feel Kellyn should be jailed for the things she makes me go through daily. So while other people complained that Shipman, a small town on the outskirts of Florida, had way more rainy days than sunny, my sister and I knew it was majorly my fault. In my defence, my sister lives to annoy me.

"Well finally someone decided to bring more pancakes!" Kellyn said in an overly sweet voice that made me want to fork my ear drums out as she collected a plate of pancakes from my right hand.

Yes, this time i made sure to seperate the plates don't worry.

I sat down and began eating but when i looked up to see my sister chewing like a maniac, my heart filled with sorrow. I really did create a monster didn't I?

"You're definitely coming with me to Evelyn's birthday party tonight Kira. We should totally wear matching clothes!"

Huh? Where is my sister and what did you do with her?

"I'd rather not Kellyn. Let's just go out in different clothes"

"Oh shut up. We're almost identical anyway." She shrugged non challantly.

"Okay give it up what's the catch?"

"I'm fixing you up with a guy tonight. You're nineteen fucking years old. Are you planning to leave me nephew-less?" Her eyes widened overdramatically as she placed one slender hand on her rather full chest.

"So what? You're nineteen too!" I retort back lamely before going back to eating my pancakes.

"Oh kira, aren't you adorable" Kellyn said sarcastically before walking over to the room we shared and trust me, coming from my sister that wasn't a compliment at all.

Kellyn hates adorable

The apartment wasn't that big and had holes on the roof here and there but we weren't complaining. After bickering for about an hour, I finally decided to dress uniform with her. Yep, you read right people. My sister and I were wearing matching outfits for Evelyn's extravagant birthday party.

We stepped down from the uber and sauntered into the party like we owned the fucking place. I hate to admit, but Kellyn makes me feel like a badass. You don't need to point that out, I know I am not one.

As we entered the big hall the sight of half naked bodies and alchohol greeted me. My nose screwed up in distaste instantly due to the pungent smell of human sweat that hung heavy in the air. Apart from that, i felt quite uneasy, like something tragic was about to happen.

Looking back, I saw Kellyn flirting openly with some tall dude with hooded eyes. I rolled my eyes at this. Kellyn could bring any man to his knees whereas all I could do was cook, whine and change the stupid weather.

Le sigh

I turned away after I saw her step closer to the handsome hulk, biting her full lips.

Okay ew! Now I felt like puking

I was about to go in search of birthday girl and present her with my very thoughtful gift of a book titled " Disadvantages of extravagance" when a tall dude blocked my path. His physique was lean but fairly muscular and i couldn't help the sudden gasp that escaped my lips at his proximity. By the way, that was a gasp of fear.

The clouds rumbled with thunder and i could feel the temperature around me drop significantly as a violent wind picked up. Fear. The sky acknowledged my fear.

"What just happened?"

"I hate this town. It's always raining"

"Even on my birthday!" Evelyn screeched angrily.

I heard the whispers of people around and I was genuinely sorry for what i did. However, the man in front of me didn't seem fazed. He looked up at the sky then looked at me knowingly. As if he knew what I did. That's impossible!

I tried to peer harder to take a better look at his face hidden well under the hood. But nope! All I could make out were his electric blue eyes that seemed to roam around and still focus on me at the same time. No that sounded weird but i swear his eyes are at fault for mastering such trickery!

Did i have something to drink tonight?

"What do you want with me?" I asked cautiously. The stranger just shook his head at me and when I planned to turn the other way, he stepped in front of me again.

Did i just meet Barry Allen?

I heard footsteps behind me and was relieved to find out it was just Kellyn.

"Kira are you okay? I saw the weather change suddenly, what happen- ooh I see you've got a male company. Finally!" I watched her wink not so subtly at me while making some weird movements with her lips and eyes.

Huh weird

"You don't have to be scared babe. I'll tell him to go gentle" Kellyn finally said realising I don't do 'lips and eyes' communication.

I suddenly remembered the stranger in front of us and the creepy vibe he was giving off. I could feel it so why couldn't Kellyn?

"We need to go kellyn. Now!"

"No way! I still have to attend to Cal" Just then, Cal came up behind her giving off an even creepier vibe.

Something was seriously wrong. I could feel it. Shit was going to go down. And not in a good way.

Wait did shit ever go down in a good way?

I suddenly heard my sister scream and saw her precious Cal haul her over his shoulder. Before I could protest, I felt the stranger do the same to me.

The gnawing feeling in my stomach intensified and the wind picked up again, more violent this time. I could hear the frustrated growls of people around at the change in weather. Again.

I screamed when i saw my sister was unconscious. I screamed for help but No one heard. It was like we weren't even there. I finally realised these guys were just like us. Gifted creatures. I felt my consciousness slipping away and i realised two things.

One, i don't think I'm so eager to know what the future holds for us now.

Two, i didn't get to give Evelyn my very thoughtful gift. I just hoped she found it on the floor later on and actually takes the time to read it through. It would be nice knowing I helped her life greatly.
