When it finally did finish, I was eager to go home. I picked up my notes and got up, but a hand fell on my shoulder as I was about to start walking. I felt tingles coming from that touch. When I turned around, I saw Sam with the biggest smile on his face.
“Hey! Sarah, it is, right?” He asked with a deep voice.
“Yes, it is, and you’re Sam?” I asked him in reply, as if I didn’t remember his name.
I mean the guy is gorgeous! I had a hard time concentrating the whole meeting, my eyes just kept coming back to him all the time. I was trying not to drool on the desk.
He laughed a little before answering, “Yeah that’s right. So… I couldn’t help noticing you looking at me earlier.”
Oh crap! I thought to myself. And here I managed to make myself look like a fool on my first day. So much for a first impression. I tried to make it as if it wasn’t true, even though it must have been so obvious.
“Hum … well I was hum … trying to get to know everyone in the room.” I answered, not really believing my answer myself.
He gave me a “yeah right” kind-of-look while smiling. He knew it wasn’t true as much as I did.
He just looked at me with his beautiful eyes and asked, “Well, this meeting took longer than expected, so would you like to come and eat with me?”
My eyes opened wide as I wasn’t expecting this at all. My cheeks blushed a little as I shyly said, “Yes that sounds like a good idea.”
I went back to my desk to pick up my things. I made my way to the reception desk. He was there waiting for me, with a grin on his face. I didn’t know any restaurants nearby, but Sam told me he knew a few good ones.
We went down the elevator and got to his white elegant car. He opened the front door for me, and I got in. My heart was racing but I was trying to keep it cool and calm myself a little.
I mean it’s only a meal at the restaurant, with a guy that I’ve just met. It’s not like it was a date, right? I don’t even know if he’s single or not! I shouldn’t jump to conclusions. But for some reason, my heart seemed to think this was much more.
He got into the car, and with him being this close to me, I felt like melting. He looked at me and asked, “Are you ready?”
Ready for what? I didn’t really know what to answer and I just looked at him with a bewildered look.
“Are you ready to go eat?” He asked again, “You didn’t even buckle your seatbelt so I was wondering if you would get out of the car running or something,” he added with a grin.
As he said that he leaned to my side and buckled my seatbelt for me. He was so close; I could smell his perfume. The only thing I had on my mind was to kiss him and I had to stop myself from doing it. What the hell did that guy do to me?
As he sat back up straight in his seat, is hand touched my arm, and I swear I could feel electricity passing through us. He started the car and we drove a few blocks to a nice-looking restaurant.
As we entered the restaurant, the smell of food hit my nose, making me even hungrier than I was before. The lights were dimmed, giving a nice cozy feeling. Music was playing softly in the background. It was loud enough for you to hear, or to fill a silence, but soft enough for you to have a conversation without having to shout.
The waiter took us to our places and took our order. We drank some wine while waiting on our orders, chatting about the weather and the news. None of us really dared to venture into deeper subjects yet.
The food was great! By the time we finished eating, we had the time to drink a couple of glasses of wine. From the way Sam stared at me, he was ready for more than small talks.
“So, Sarah, tell me a little more about yourself,” he asked me, looking me in the eyes.
“Well, I’m twenty-five, just moved to Montréal. I’m really looking forward to this new game.”
“Oh, you just moved. Do you live with your parents? With your boyfriend perhaps?”
“No, I don’t have a boyfriend.” I answered, “What about you?”
“Me? No, I don’t have a boyfriend either.” He said teasingly while laughing.
“Hey!” I answered while pouting my lips.
Sam burst out laughing and I couldn’t keep a straight face.
“I’m just kidding you,” he said with a wink, “I’m twenty-seven years’ old. I live in an apartment on the south shore of Montréal. And I don’t have a girlfriend, in case you were wondering.”
Yes! I thought to myself. He’s available!
“I like to take walks in the forest and love to go out for a run.” He added. “How about you?”
“I really like to go out in nature too.” I answered. “I love to go hiking and I would love to try rock-climbing too.”
We talked for a long time, it went on and on, the whole evening was simply perfect. I just met Sam today, but I felt like I knew him for a long time. I was so drawn to him; it was driving me crazy.
After the meal, we went for a small walk in the park. My head was turning a little from the wine, so Sam stayed close to me to make sure I was fine. Or at least, that’s the excuse he used to get this close and keep an arm around my waist. Not that it bothered me. I enjoyed his proximity.
I loved to feel the warmth of his body so close. I rested my head on his shoulder as we were walking. My body just wanted more. But I had to remind myself that this was not supposed to be a date (even if it did look like that a lot).
And even if it was a date, it was a “first date” so I had to stay focused and push away what my body wanted to do.
The evening was getting late, so Sam offered to drop me off at my apartment. Which I really appreciated as I didn’t want to take the subway and walk all alone that late at night. We drove the few blocks to my apartment. Sam parked the car and looked at me.
“I really had a great time tonight Sarah.”
I smiled, “Yeah me too, really.”
My heart was beating fast and I could feel the tension building up between us. He leaned up to me and brushed a soft kiss on my lips. His lips were so soft, and I wanted more. Before he moved back, I kissed him back. Slowly he put his hand in my hair and his tongue made way in my mouth. We stayed like that, tasting each other again and again.
My body was reacting to his touch like I’ve never felt before. I wished for this moment to never end but he eventually broke the kiss.
Breathless, he looked at me and said, “I really had a great time. I hope we get to do this again another time.”
I looked at his beautiful green eyes, where I can easily lose myself.
“Yes definitely, we’ll do that again.”
He smiled at my answer as I got out of the car and went to my apartment.
This first day at work turned out to be so much more than I expected! I went straight to bed. Sam was the last thing on my mind as I fell asleep, with a smile on my face.
************ Sarah’s POV ************A lot had happened since that day. After the battle we went back to Sam’s parents’ house. We were injured but we were fine. They sent some members of the pack to clean up the mess and then seal the sepulcher, hoping no one would have the idea to go there again. With the respect gained from the fight, and the courage and strength that he showed, it was decided Sam would become the Alpha. His father stepped down as the Alpha and began teaching his son, showing him what it means to be a good Alpha. I had no doubts he would do great. As for myself, Sam’s mom has been teaching me what it means to be a Luna.At work, we had to think of a reason for Marissa and Keven not to show up at work anymore. We’ve told the other employees that they had decided to go live abroad and couldn’t work for us anymore. Of course, employees that were members of the pack knew the truth, b
I heard Sarah say, “You’re wrong. Humans are not weak. We have our place in the pack with the others. What we lack in physical strength, we compensate in our hearts.” I didn’t want her to speak and get attention on her. But it was too late. Georges was coming her way. He spoke with hatred in the eyes, “You fool…” nothing more was said, and I knew he was coming for her. I stepped in his way just in time to stop him. His punch was so strong I fell to the floor. My leg was hurting from the fight with Keven. “You annoying bastard.” Georges told me and then changed into his wolf form as I followed him and changed too. With the demon’s power absorbed, he was much bigger and stronger than me, even if he didn’t have Alpha blood. That fight was going to be challenging. ************ Sarah’s POV ************ A silent filled the room as Georges and Sam turned to their wolf form, preparing to battle. Everybody stopped fighting
It took us a little longer than expected to find the entrance. There were a few guards, but we dealt with them. A good portion of the pack was there. We were a good team of wolves and humans, all together to find Sarah. There was this long corridor and at the end seemed to be a big room. I could hear sounds coming from it. That’s when she spoke to me, that’s when I heard her saying she was going to die. I couldn’t hold my wolf anymore. I turned into my wolf form and ran as fast as I could. Zach knew what it meant. He led the pack towards the room, behind me. As I arrived in the room, I saw Sarah on an altar at the center, Keven was about to stab her with a dagger in the chest. I let Zach and the pack deal with the wolves that were all around the room. I jumped between Keven and Sarah with a threatening growl. There was no way I was letting him harm my mate. “It’s okay babe, I’m here.” I told Sarah through her mind. She opened he
I took my phone out and tried to call Sarah but got no answer. Then I tried to concentrate and to her through her mind, but it didn’t work. That wasn’t normal, that wasn’t good. Our bond was strong, it was easy to talk to her through my mind. If that wasn’t working, then there was a problem. “Zach, we need to go, something’s wrong with Sarah. We need to find her, now.” Zach stood up and said, “Don’t worry man, we’ll find your mate. I have a hunch I know just where to search for her.” I looked at him. I knew exactly what he had in mind, the ruins of the ancient pack. Keven was seen with other wolves searching for the sepulcher of Eurynomos. Of course, that’s where he would have taken her. I didn’t know why he would bring her there, but whatever the reason, I only knew it wasn’t a good thing. My wolf wanted to come out so bad. But I knew we needed to go by car, it would be way faster than to run as a wolf. I kept him under
Itwas Monday morning already. I felt like the sun rose too early, I could have stayed in bed for a few more hours. But after an extra-long weekend, I needed to get ready for work. I kissed Sam and hugged him tight, breathed his scent of a man that I love so much. I went to get dressed. It was supposed to be a beautiful sunny day today, so I decided to put on my lovely white summer dress with red flowers on it. I loved this dress so much! It was mostly white on top, with no sleeves. Then on the way down, it became flowy with flowers. I thought it was quite elegant and fun at the same time. I got my hair up in a bun and looked around to see Sam staring at me. “Wow! You are too pretty to go to work,” he said in a husky voice as he got close to me. I blushed at his comment and laughed. “Thanks, but you know we need to go, right?” He nodded even though I knew he wished we could take more days off instead of going to work
I was happy with his answer, but still feeling a little annoyed. My wolf hadn’t calmed down yet. All my instincts were telling me to give her a proper lesson as to how to talk to my mate. But then again, I had to remind myself that Sarah was not a wolf. She was not used to our laws and I didn’t want to do that in front of her unless really necessary. I decided to thrust that Georges would take care of his daughter. “Let that be my final warning.” I told him still projecting my Alpha authority on them. As future Alpha, I shouldn’t have to demonstrate my dominance unless someone would challenge my dad and then me for the lead of the pack. I was stronger than the rest of the wolves and the strength of the Alpha was running in my blood since I was the Alpha’s son. Sarah took my hand and all of my anger disappeared. “Come honey,” she told me softly, “Let’s go see your mother before it’s time for us to go back home.” She was ri
