What a day! Finding my mate was never something that worried me. A lot of my family found their mates early on. Some of my friends were teasing me as I was getting older. I knew that one day it would come. But I didn’t expect to find her today!
I still remember waiting in that meeting for everyone to come. When I smelled her, I just knew. One word repeated in my brain: mate. My wolf knew it was her, he wanted out.
When she came in the room, she looked at me. Her brown hair coming at her shoulders. She had the most beautiful hazel eyes. From the look she gave me, I knew that she felt it too.
She was human, I couldn’t smell any wolf in her. I would have to take it slow with her; I don’t know how she’ll react when she finds out what I am. But today was great!
I didn’t expect her to accept going to the restaurant with me but I’m so glad she did! And that feeling when our lips touched, I don’t even know how to describe the feeling I got!
It’s already late and I know I should get to sleep, but I can’t stop thinking about her. My wolf just wants me to get back to her, to get back to my mate. The one the moon goddess chose for me, my perfect half. Soon, I tell him, tomorrow we’ll see her at work.
I spent part of the night thinking about Sarah and at some point, just fell asleep.
I was tired when I woke up in the morning, but there was this groaning in my chest. My wolf was eager to see her. I took a quick shower and went to work looking forward to seeing my beautiful Sarah. She doesn’t know yet how perfect she is to me. But I intend to make her understand it soon.
I arrived at my desk and got greeted by Zach, my cousin.
“Hey Sam, how’s it going today?” he asks with a smile.
“Great,” I answered.
He looked at me with a grin on his face.
“What happened to you? You look different.”
I didn’t really know what he meant so I replied, “Different. What do you mean?”
“Well,” he answered, “you’re all smiling, staring at the space in front of you, didn’t complain about anything. Not that I’m complaining, but something must have happened.”
My cousin knew me like the back of his hands. He was a trustworthy friend and one of the best fighters of the pack.
I smiled at him and just said, “I found my mate.”
His eyes widened. “Finally! Was about time!”
I laughed at his remark, “Look who’s talking! You still didn’t find you mate yet.” I teased him.
“Haha okay, okay. You got me! So how is it? What does it do? Is it true what they say?”
I took some time to gather my thoughts before I answered.
“It’s the most amazing feeling in the world! I felt my wolf calling to me. I felt drawn to her like no one before. I know I will never look at another femme wolf again.”
“So, who is this girl? Is she someone from our pack?” Zach asked.
“She’s not a wolf.” I answered, “It’s Sarah, the new girl from marketing.”
Zach thought a little bit, “Ahh yes! Sarah, I met her yesterday, a nice girl.”
At those words, my wolf jumped, and a small growl came out of my chest. “Mine,” is what I said.
“Hey relax! I know she’s yours.” Replied Zach, “I didn’t mean it that way buddy! I would never.”
I knew he was saying the truth. But this feeling was strong, and it was hard to control it. It was the wolf part of me trying to protect its mate. Zach was a wolf too, so he understood.
“Yeah, no hard feelings.” I said and then, changing the subject. “So, how’s it going with the investigation about the prophecy?”
There was this old prophecy told by my people, that a darkness would awaken and bring despair to our family. It was believed that this prophecy would soon come true. Zach oversaw the investigation, trying to find what would awaken and try to prevent it.
“Nothing yet,” he answered. “Sorry, it’s not easy stuff. Most of the people who know about the prophecy are either awfully hard to find, incredibly old or already dead. But I’m still working on it.”
It was the answer I was expecting. It was the same answer every week, but I had to know if we had any progress. The safety of our pack depended on it.
“Yeah okay,” I answered. “Have a good day Zach, see you later.” And with that Zach went on to his office.
A lot of people working at this company were lycanthropes, like me and Zach. Many other members of our pack worked here too. I was the Beta of the pack and my father Mark was the Alpha. One day it will be my turn to be the Alpha.
As wolves, we protected one another. But our family doesn’t just include wolves. About half of our family is human. Whether our mates be wolves or humans, we welcome them with open arms.
Once a wolf finds its mate, he will never find another one again. If a mate dies, the other wolf stays alone for the rest of its life. That’s what happened to my uncle Georges. His mate died shortly after giving birth to my cousin Marissa. I don’t know all the details about it. But I know that he’s never been the same since his mate died.
I was lost in my thoughts when Marissa barged into my office.
“What was that?” she asked.
“What was what?” I asked her.
“You and Sarah! I saw those faces you two were doing yesterday! What’s going on?” She asked angrily.
“Marissa, Sarah is my mate.” I simply answered with a smile on my face.
Her eyes widened; a disgusting look on her face. “But she’s a human! She’s not fit to be an Alpha’s mate.”
A low growl came from my chest. So low that only wolves could hear it. Marissa took a step back.
“I will not have you disrespect my mate.” I told her in a threatening tone.
“She may be a human but she’s the one the moon goddess chose for me and you will not disrespect her! Am I clear?” I asked, using my alpha authority on her.
She put her head down and apologized before leaving in a hurry.
No one could resist the alpha authority. It was something everyone in the pack respected. If anyone dared to defy it, they would have to fight the Alpha. Most of the time, until one of the two fighters died, the winner keeping the role of the Alpha.
I was still angry from Marissa’s comment when a smell hit me, making all my anger vanish. A sweet smell of peaches.
When she passed my office, I called her name, “Sarah.”
She turned around smiling. At that moment, my heart was beating so fast. I had an urge to run to her, to hold her in my arms, to kiss her. I had to calm myself down or I wouldn’t be able to control my wolf.
Like yesterday, when we were kissing, I couldn’t hold it anymore. I had no choice but to break the kiss and let her go to her apartment. Or else I don’t know how far things would have gone.
“Hey Sam! How are you?” she asked smiling, coming into my office. I was hypnotized by those hazel eyes. She literally stole my heart. She did what I thought could never be done; she tamed me.
“I’m doing great! I couldn’t sleep last night, couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
She blushed at my comment.
I approached her and I could hear her heartbeat speeding up. She was feeling the mate bond pulling her to me and me to her. I grabbed her shoulders and gently slid down her arms as I spoke to her.
“I really wanted to see you this morning,” I said.
Her skin was so soft, I just wanted to caress her whole body. Inside of my chest, my wolf was screaming, “mate, mate, mate.”
I wanted to keep her close to me, make her mine so that every wolf would know that she’s mine. But I couldn’t. Not yet. She was not ready for that yet. So instead, I just brushed a soft kiss on her lips, feeling the warmth of her soft lips ever so lightly.
She leaned into my arms and put her hands on my chest. She was smaller than me, her head going up to my chin. She looked at me and she said, “Yeah, I wanted to see you too. I thought about you too.”
I put my arms around her back and hold her tight, just enjoying the moment for a few minutes. I didn’t want to let her go, but I knew I had to. We were at work; I couldn’t keep her in my arms all day.
“Then, how about we do something tonight?” I asked.
She looked at me, still in my arms.
“That would be a great idea.”
That smile of hers just makes my heart melt. I leaned to her face and gave her a slight kiss on the cheek before releasing my arms.
“I’ll see you after work then.”
She waved and I watched her go to her workstation.
************ Sarah’s POV ************A lot had happened since that day. After the battle we went back to Sam’s parents’ house. We were injured but we were fine. They sent some members of the pack to clean up the mess and then seal the sepulcher, hoping no one would have the idea to go there again. With the respect gained from the fight, and the courage and strength that he showed, it was decided Sam would become the Alpha. His father stepped down as the Alpha and began teaching his son, showing him what it means to be a good Alpha. I had no doubts he would do great. As for myself, Sam’s mom has been teaching me what it means to be a Luna.At work, we had to think of a reason for Marissa and Keven not to show up at work anymore. We’ve told the other employees that they had decided to go live abroad and couldn’t work for us anymore. Of course, employees that were members of the pack knew the truth, b
I heard Sarah say, “You’re wrong. Humans are not weak. We have our place in the pack with the others. What we lack in physical strength, we compensate in our hearts.” I didn’t want her to speak and get attention on her. But it was too late. Georges was coming her way. He spoke with hatred in the eyes, “You fool…” nothing more was said, and I knew he was coming for her. I stepped in his way just in time to stop him. His punch was so strong I fell to the floor. My leg was hurting from the fight with Keven. “You annoying bastard.” Georges told me and then changed into his wolf form as I followed him and changed too. With the demon’s power absorbed, he was much bigger and stronger than me, even if he didn’t have Alpha blood. That fight was going to be challenging. ************ Sarah’s POV ************ A silent filled the room as Georges and Sam turned to their wolf form, preparing to battle. Everybody stopped fighting
It took us a little longer than expected to find the entrance. There were a few guards, but we dealt with them. A good portion of the pack was there. We were a good team of wolves and humans, all together to find Sarah. There was this long corridor and at the end seemed to be a big room. I could hear sounds coming from it. That’s when she spoke to me, that’s when I heard her saying she was going to die. I couldn’t hold my wolf anymore. I turned into my wolf form and ran as fast as I could. Zach knew what it meant. He led the pack towards the room, behind me. As I arrived in the room, I saw Sarah on an altar at the center, Keven was about to stab her with a dagger in the chest. I let Zach and the pack deal with the wolves that were all around the room. I jumped between Keven and Sarah with a threatening growl. There was no way I was letting him harm my mate. “It’s okay babe, I’m here.” I told Sarah through her mind. She opened he
I took my phone out and tried to call Sarah but got no answer. Then I tried to concentrate and to her through her mind, but it didn’t work. That wasn’t normal, that wasn’t good. Our bond was strong, it was easy to talk to her through my mind. If that wasn’t working, then there was a problem. “Zach, we need to go, something’s wrong with Sarah. We need to find her, now.” Zach stood up and said, “Don’t worry man, we’ll find your mate. I have a hunch I know just where to search for her.” I looked at him. I knew exactly what he had in mind, the ruins of the ancient pack. Keven was seen with other wolves searching for the sepulcher of Eurynomos. Of course, that’s where he would have taken her. I didn’t know why he would bring her there, but whatever the reason, I only knew it wasn’t a good thing. My wolf wanted to come out so bad. But I knew we needed to go by car, it would be way faster than to run as a wolf. I kept him under
Itwas Monday morning already. I felt like the sun rose too early, I could have stayed in bed for a few more hours. But after an extra-long weekend, I needed to get ready for work. I kissed Sam and hugged him tight, breathed his scent of a man that I love so much. I went to get dressed. It was supposed to be a beautiful sunny day today, so I decided to put on my lovely white summer dress with red flowers on it. I loved this dress so much! It was mostly white on top, with no sleeves. Then on the way down, it became flowy with flowers. I thought it was quite elegant and fun at the same time. I got my hair up in a bun and looked around to see Sam staring at me. “Wow! You are too pretty to go to work,” he said in a husky voice as he got close to me. I blushed at his comment and laughed. “Thanks, but you know we need to go, right?” He nodded even though I knew he wished we could take more days off instead of going to work
I was happy with his answer, but still feeling a little annoyed. My wolf hadn’t calmed down yet. All my instincts were telling me to give her a proper lesson as to how to talk to my mate. But then again, I had to remind myself that Sarah was not a wolf. She was not used to our laws and I didn’t want to do that in front of her unless really necessary. I decided to thrust that Georges would take care of his daughter. “Let that be my final warning.” I told him still projecting my Alpha authority on them. As future Alpha, I shouldn’t have to demonstrate my dominance unless someone would challenge my dad and then me for the lead of the pack. I was stronger than the rest of the wolves and the strength of the Alpha was running in my blood since I was the Alpha’s son. Sarah took my hand and all of my anger disappeared. “Come honey,” she told me softly, “Let’s go see your mother before it’s time for us to go back home.” She was ri
