Chapter 4

PAYBACK TIME FOR JACE

Amy POV

"We have been together for twenty four hours, why did you not tell me that you are pregnant." I felt my stomach churned with guilt, as he questioned me.

"Listen, I know I have not been the best of behavior when it comes to telling you things and I am sorry."

He did not say a word as he dug into his meal. I was scared about what he was going to do. I really did not want things to end up like this between the both of us, we were just starting this marriage.

"Who is the father of the child." He asked, halfway into his meal.

"His name is Jace, I caught him having sex with my step sister, after I had thought we were going to get married." I recalled my past memory of seeing Gwen and Jace together and it hurts to know that they betrayed me.

"Do you still love him?" He asked, while his attention was completely on me.

"I don't love him, I regret the day I ever met him. Jace made me feel like I was the bad person in the relationship. I thought we had everything going with us, but it turns out I was wrong." My phone sudden begins to ring.

"Hello?" I picked up.

"Amy, you have to get home now. There is a serious situation on our hands. Your father slumped in the living room and he is being treated by the doctor as we speak." There was so much urgency in the voice of my step mother that told me how serious the situation appeared to be.

"What is the situation?" He asked, as soon as I hang up and grabbed my purse, ready to leave the restaurant immediately.

"My dad is in a strange ailment as we speak and I need to go and meet him immediately." I confessed, getting up to my feet.

"I will drop you." I was surprised that he would offer to drop me off, after our discussion, regardless i took the offer.

When we arrived at my father's house, I was about to get out of the car, but he held me back.

"We will discuss more about our relationship, after you are done seeing your father. There are some priorities that needs to be set apart and even right moreso." I gave him a smile and nod my head.

When I got off the car, I watch him drive off.

"So your broke boyfriend still has this car huh?" I turned around and I am met by the most cruel people in my world.

Jace and Gwen.

"Where is father?" I asked, ignoring their question.

"Responding to treatment, the doctor has asked to see all of us." Gwen replied, still trying to find a way to mock me.

"We haven't settled to discuss how you are going to flush out that thing in your womb." The nerve of Jace calling our child a thing pissed me off immediately.

I ignored his comment and stepped inside the house, where Sylvia and the doctor appeared to be making discussions.

"Great, now that everyone is here..." Sylvia started out, staring at me with hate in her eyes. I never could tell what I did to this woman.

"Don't worry Mrs. Lexington, I will handle it myself." The doctor informed and turned to everyone, who was seated. "Your father is in a terrible condition and needs the much needed help he can get. We are planning on performing a surgical operation on him."

"How much are we looking at raising for his surgery?" Gwen asked.

"A million dollar."

"But that is a whole lot of money." I said, trying to gain my composure after the announcement of the doctor.

"This is why you will always remain poor. You have a bad mindset. A million dollar for your father's surgery is not a huge money, if you claim to love him."

"I am sick and tired of everyone looking down on me! I just said what I feel about the money. I love my father and would never want to abandon him in any situation." I responded to Sylvia's comment.

"The earlier the money is raised, the better opportunity he stands at getting a good medical treatment." The doctor announced.

"I will drop four hundred thousand dollars." Jace announced and I noticed the much needed smile on the face of Gwen and even Sylvia could not help but smile.

That is what they think of Jace; he is nothing but a cash cow to them.

"I will add two hundred thousand dollars to the money." Sylvia announced and all eyes turned to my direction.

"I know you are not used to hearing such ridiculous amount of money, but can you atleast drop a penny?" They all laughed, as Gwen suggested.

I was infuriated by their mockery; these people don't understand the fact that I could raise the entire money for my father as a managing director and I won't bait an eye for it.

"I will text Marcus." I pulled out my phone and I heard Gwen hiss, waving her hands in dismissive act and I merely smiled.

If only she knew that the man, she had considered not worthy of her time and patience, had an incomprehensible amount of wealth.

I sent Marcus a text seeking his approval to roll out the money and he granted it almost immediately, reminding me that I am the managing director after all.

I smiled as a new plan popped up in my head. I sent out a request text to Marcus immediately, a satisfactory grin making it's way to my face.

"Very well then, I will send the left over amount by evening." I announced.

"Are you going to steal four hundred thousand dollars?" Gwen asked and I looked at Jace and noticed his mood had turned sour, the moment he checked his phone.

"What is it babe?" Gwen asked, seeing he rose to his feet.

"This cannot be happening! My contract with Orlando Empires just got terminated." I smiled in satisfaction, seeing the look of shock on his face. "I have to be on my way now."

"What about the promise you made!" Gwen asked, as Jace dashed out the house, but he gave no response.

This is just the beginning, by the time I am done with them they will come crawling back and begging.
