KEEPING UP WITH THE BANKRUPT BILLONAIRE

Amy POV

I wore a mask of pain never thought I will regret my decision of marrying a man on black tuxedo.

"Welcome to the Asteroid's penthouse." I heard the driver announced, as we made our way inside of the building. I was carried away by the size of the penthouse, which extended through the whole empty streets.

When I got out of the car, my eyes landed on a man dressed up in Armani black suits. He had a disgruntled look on his face, as I approached him.

"You must be Amy Lexington?" His deep voice questioned and I gave him an affirmative answer. "Well, I am Marcus Asteroid and welcome to my family's penthouse." He said with an open arm.

This was the first time I was ever laying eyes on him and I was blown away by his handsome features. He had a sharp jawline and deep blue eyes that almost stared into my soul, anytime I gaze upon them .

"Let's go inside, lunch is ready and the family are waiting." He stretched his hands and I took it and we walked side by side into the building.

I was in awe as soon as we entered the living room, taking note of the beautiful interior designs that had been laid out.

We turned to the left side of the living room, revealing a door which Marcus pulled open and ushering us into the dinning section of the house.

I was cautious as soon as I noticed several eyes were on me.

"Is this the woman you are talking about Marcus?" An old man, who appeared to be in his sixties questioned.

"Yes father, she is the one." Marcus drew one of the seats apart like a gentleman, and I took my place in the dinning table.

As the Steward approached me, they opened a huge box revealing a buffet of so many delicacies, which smelled really nice.

"You know, it is funny when I think about it......" Marcus father broke the silence again. "....how are you going to maintain such a gorgeous woman or doesn't she know you are broke?"

Broke! That drum in my ears, is it a mare rumor or is real? Why will I choose a broken billionaire how I'm I supposed to get the money for my best friends surgery.

I stopped my meal and turned to look at Marcus. He held his fork tightly showing a fit of rage underneath his eyes.

"When you think about the numerous investments I made, just to get your mother, I don't feel like you can maintain her."

"Darling, you don't have to be harsh on him." The woman, who I believe was Marcus' mother revealed with a sympathetic look on Marcus.

"I won't have you insult me father."

"But I am merely saying the truth Marcus. I mean take a look at your company. I spent endless hours building a huge company and all you ever did was take it down with one silly mistake." His father pressed on.

A heavy knot forms in my throat.

"It is not my fault that the cooperative body decides to sell off their shares from the company. These things happen in the business." Marcus' voice was getting louder, revealing how much anger he had in him.

"As long as you are still doing nothing about it, I will keep blaming you."

Marcus rose from the table and took a deep breath for a moment.

"I have endured alot of insult and disrespect from you father and I cannot have it again." He turned around to meet me. "Let's go."

Despite the look from his parents, I chose to follow Marcus out of the dinning section and subsequently out of the living room.

By the time we got to his car, I noticed he was frustrated, as he kept touching his curly hair.

"Sorry you had to witness that." He mentioned, but I only cut him a smile and a nod. I did not want add to his deepened mood.

I was surprised that Marcus Asteroid could easily get bankrupt. When we arrived at his mansion, it was so luxurious that it made me wonder if he had actually lost everything.

"Marcus Asteroid, the serial Investor..." We were accousted by a man who appeared to be of the same age with Marcus.

"What are you doing here Damien.?" Marcus asked and I noticed a scowl on his face.

"Please, we used to be partners and seeing that you are broke now, I figured it was the best time to come check up on you." I noticed a hint of sarcasm in his tone.

He gave a curt smile.

“And who could be this woman”

Marcus doesn't answer instead..

"I want you out of my house immediately!"

"Relax and let me observe this beautiful young lady here..." Damien's eyes flew to mine and he licked his lips in what I would consider cringe. "How much for a night sweetheart?"

"Excuse me?" Marcus left my side and approached Damien aggressively pushing him backwards, while Damien did not react.

"Why are you being all defensive Marcus. You and I know that being broke means you cannot afford the good things that life has to offer. Infact, I believe you cannot control this beautiful maiden here with your status. Except you want to sell you remaining assets, which I would be interested in buying."

I gasped as Marcus fist connects with Damien's jaw. The latter favoured his cheeks and looked back at Marcus with a bloodied lip, saying;

"I will let this slide because I am in a good mood. Next time you won't be this lucky." Damien warned and with one last look at my direction he head into his car and leaves.

Once he was gone, I turned to Marcus and noticed his bloodied hands and approached him.

"You have any first aid box inside the house, so I treat you?" I asked, while taking his hands.

"No I am fine." He did not appear to be fine. I could see every word that has been spoken to him got him really depressed.

As we stepped inside the mansion, he dropped to the couch with his eyes closed, while I watched him.

It was barely a day with Marcus Asteroid and I had already gone through several experience with him, including his trajectory with his company.

"I cannot wait to start dishing out my revenge, I am going to make sure I serve everyone who has disrespected me." He mentioned more to himself than me.

But then the thought again, how can I marry a man who is sinking? Is this really what I want? Definitely not!
