Teresa POV
“Strip, mutt!” The auction organizer beckoned at me harshly and I flinched. Tears kept streaming down my face but the man didn't care, he eyed me like if I delayed a second longer he would strip me himself and I wouldn't like any part of it. I began taking all my clothes off as I tried to calm my aching heart that was filled so much hurt. “Is this the new arrival?” a man approached us and asked the organizer. “Yeah, that cunning woman has been hiding her daughter all this while, she will definitely give us good sales tonight with those curves,” he replied cheerfully. I could feel their wandering eyes on my naked body and I mentally prayed to the moon goddess to let the ground open and swallow me whole. How could my mother do this to me? I knew we weren't the best mother and daughter but at least working as a maid for her shielded me from the pack's brutality against omegas. Being an omega with no wolf was a curse ever since I was born. My own mother had refused to acknowledge me as her daughter and I had to work for her as a maid in her house just to get shelter and food. I had already accepted my fate, ready to devote my time to getting in her good graces when she suddenly handed me to the pack's auction house. Despite my pleas she left me to be sold out without turning back, how could she do that to her own daughter? “Very strategic, that woman. She came to get rid of the trash now that she had secured the gold. Anyways, better late than never” The man said and patted the organizer on the back before leaving. Secured the gold? What was he talking about… I wasn't privy to my mother's activities, she barely spoke to me or acknowledged me, I was just like every other maid to her. I had always hope she would call me her daughter at least once. “Alright, it's show time. You, stay on the number five tag” he pointed at me and instructed. There were ten of us present, all naked omegas waiting to be sold off. I anxiously walked out to the stage with the rest of them and stood under the number five tag. Then the entrance door to the auction house opened and the men walked in their numbers and took their seats. My head was bowed in shame but a tingling sweet scent tickled my nose and forced me to look up. It was addicting and it took a lot for me to keep my feet planted on my spot. What the hell was that? How was I the only one perceiving it? My eyes followed where I thought the scent was coming from and my gaze fell on some pairs of eyes sending a death glare at me. Mates I bit my tongue hard to stop myself from blurting it out loud but my eyes widened to show how shocked I was. I was trembling from the reality that was staring back at me. Mates? Not one but three?... How was that possible… I had turned eighteen three months ago and with no mate in sight, I thought I was doomed to die alone. It was one of the reasons mother began to get even more irritated with my presence, she had hoped my mate would come soon so I could be taken away. I had to work extra to please her to let me stay till my mate came around but I guess she had had enough of me to send me to the auction house. Who would have thought I would found my mate here, three tall and intimidating men? Omegas got mates even with no wolf but their partners were always someone insignificant or weak like them. I have never heard of omegas getting more than one mate before and they all looked strong as well. I gulped and looked away from fear. If looks could kill I would have been buried 18ft under. It was so clear that they didn't approve of me at all, what games was the moon goddess trying to play by pairing me with them? “As usual gentlemen, I will call out by number tag and you place your bids, you know how it's done” the organizer began from tag number one and the men called out prices like we were mere objects. With this new development of my mates being in the same room with me, I felt extremely tensed and uncomfortable… more than I was before. They didn't say anything or place any bids but I could feel their eyes boring into me. I couldn't help but wonder what was going through their mind. I had only glanced at them after a few seconds so I couldn't get a clear description of their features but they shared a resemblance that made me suspect they were brothers. One was muscular with black hair and red highlights, the other leaner one had a plain black hair that was cut low and the one in-between had short brown hair. Apart from their intimidating face, they looked like hot greek gods sent from hell. I wasn't allowed to go out so I had no idea who they were, but it wasn't far off to guess that they were no ordinary wolves. Auction houses were for the creame of the crop, only influential people frequented there. “Number five, going for 500 coins…” The organizer's voice cut through my thoughts and brought me back to reality, it was my turn to be sold. I stood helplessly as the bid started coming in, I had no other choice so I could only hope my new owner was kind even though that was very unlikely. “600” “800” “1000”... “2500”... “5000” “5000 coins… going one, twice…” “10000 coins” The crowd fell quiet and all eyes turned to the person who made the bid. I couldn't help but look up too, I wanted to know who bidded so high. It was none other than them… my mates.Teresa Days passed after that, and my mother didn’t respond. Occasionally, I would go to her room to check on her, to see if she’ll move again like she did the other day, but nothing happened. I’d spend hours waiting for her to wake up, but she won’t react. Sometimes, I ended up leaving her room whenever I got tired. Sometimes, the brothers would be the ones who would lead me out. I wanted to live with my mother again, even if it was just for one minute. I wanted to talk to my mother, the real Milinda, without anything possessing her, but as the days progressed, it looked like I may never experience that. This was two weeks after I’d recovered. I was in Milinda’s room, sitting beside her bed, her hand in mine. She was still as she’d always been, eyes closed. Face pale. It was almost as if she had died.“Mother,” I called. “I don’t know if you can hear me, but I need you to come back to me, even if it’s just for twelve hours. I know we may not have had the best relationship… but
Teresa “…at long last. Yesterday still feels like a dream,” Lynch’s voice drifted through my consciousness. I felt a blanket covering me, and the bed I was lying on felt way too comfortable. I was not in the grey room. Then, where was I?I opened my eyes, and the sunrays through the window attacked my gaze briefly. Every part of me felt weak. I couldn’t even lift a finger. What happened to me? Was this a dream?“She’s awake,” Bennett called. In an instant, three sets of faces blurred over me before coming into focus. Keller, Bennett, Lynch. They were all here. Together. Looking normal.Joy flooded my body with strength, and I struggled to sit up. “You’re all here?”Keller didn’t respond. He gave a simple nod.Bennett smiled. Lynch responded.“Yeah, and you’re safe.” He added when he noticed how I glanced around. “It’s all over,” Keller said.“It is?” I asked, as the memory of the other day washed over me. The fight, the brief appearance of Lynch, the failed attempt to convince
Keller “This should teach you that I was always the boss,” Elyria continued in Teresa’s body, the burning sword still pointed at Diana’s neck. “I’m only pitying the host’s body,” Elyria continued. “The unfortunate host you were able to possess because of her greed. It was not her fault, though, so I will not destroy her body. However, I’ll render your soul useless so that not even limbo can hold you. You won’t be able to make it to the other dimension, but will remain a wanderer, unable to host anybody or find rest for your soul.”“Please… no…” Diana managed to gag out, spluttering blood over her mouth, dripping down. “The time for salvation has gone,” Elyria said. “Looking into the history of my host, I see how she convinced you to change, but what she didn’t know was that you were born to do evil continually.”“No… I can… change…”“Don’t you think it’s quite past time for all of that, hmm?”Before Diana could say anything else, Teresa plunged the sword through Milinda’s chest.
Keller I dug out of the rubble and books with the little strength left in me and glanced around. The room was in utter mess. Lynch was nowhere to be found. At one corner of the room was a large black beast, struggling fruitlessly in a glowing, yellow light strip.Teresa was on the floor a few inches away from her in a heap, and I could barely move a finger. Diana—or who the hell was in Milinda’s body shook her head, then lifted her hand, and started chanting.A heavy wind from nowhere came into the room, rippling everything and throwing every light object into chaos. I blinked, wondering what was happening. Was Diana finally having her way?It finally dawned on me that killing Oris was the least part of the problem. The real problem was standing in the center of the room.Diana stuttered with whatever she was chanting, glancing around her, then shaking her head.“This can’t be possible,” she glanced this way and that way. The wind in the room continued, growing more boisterous. I
Teresa I was on the floor, watching my life flash before my eyes. For a moment, I thought I was not going to make it. I shouldn’t have come here alone. I should have come here with the three boys. Probably, Lynch might know something that we could use against Diana. But I thought I could empathize with her human side. But unfortunately, I guess that was amongst the things she lost in her drive for revenge. My hand against the wound weakened, and my body grew weaker.Like a broken jar, I watched as strength drained from me.Diana paced the room—in Milinda’s body, like she owned the place. “It would be amazing to add you to my pile of batteries,” she huffed. “But you’re quite knowledgeable than your mother gives you credit for, so the best I could do for you is to let you die, a slow, painful death.”She got to the end of the room, looking at Brock’s corpse. “At least, aside from the numerous stupid people I’ve met, of whom Brock is chief, you’re the most sensible person I’ve met.”
Keller All around me, the enemy troops were slumping to their knees and raising their swords, making our men stop and look in our direction. I followed their gazes back to Oris’s body, and for a moment, a chill of excitement rushed through me. Bringing down Oris meant I ended the war.We won.I blinked, still struggling to believe it. All around, the men closest to the woods began retreating backwards, while the ones in the middle of the fray slumped to their knees with hands raised.Quickly, I reached out to Bennett using the mindlink.“Quick, some of them are getting away. Stop them!”Bennett yelled to the others. “Don’t let the enemy get away! Stop them now!”The men swung into action, racing towards the men attempting to run away. It was a mad dash around the dusty clearing as our men caught them and pulled them back. Lynch sidled up to stand behind me, his sword reeking of metallic scent. I glanced to see the weapon dripping blood. “So, it really is over,” he said aloud.“Aro
LynchThe exhaustion here was more mental than physical, so the rest didn’t help much. What was I expecting? I was sitting by a jagged stone, resting my back against it for what felt like hours.Probably I’d spent longer, but there was n
