Aviena’s POV
“No! I don’t want to go in the Philippines!” Camillia's already throwing trantums while holding my legs. Hindi ko naman mapigilan ang tignan siya.
“Camillia.”
“We’re not going to stay there for so long. Mabilis lang tayo. Uuwi rin agad tayo rito.”
“No.”
“Why?” mahinahon kong tanong because my daughter doesn’t usually throw tantrums when she doesn’t have any reason to.
“Shh… Mama’s not mad at you… I just wanted to know why don’t you want to go there. Don’t you want to see how beautiful Mama’s birthplace?” tanong ko sa pa muli sa kaniya kaya sinubukan niyang pigilan ang iyak ngunit hindi niya na nagawa pa.
“I… I was just scared…” mahinang bulong niya. Nahinto naman ako roon. I know what she’s scared about.
“Hmm?”
“I was just scared that Papa won’t like me. What will happen if he won’t love me, Mama?” tanong niya pa sa akin kaya ngumiti ako sa kaniya bago umiling at ginulo ang buhok niya.
“Papa will like you and if he won’t then Mama’s always here. You’re Mama’s baby, remember?” nakangiti ko pang tanong sa kaniya kaya unti-unti siyang tumango.
“Are you sure Papa will like me, Mama? Will he like my curly hair like yours?” tanong niya.
“What about the way I speak, Mama? Will he likes it?”
The truth is I don’t really have idea if he will like everything about her but if he won’t then don’t. Alam kong galit siya sa akin but I just really hope that he will love his daughter. Kahit ano pang gawin niya, galing ‘yan sa balls niya.
“Are you finally going home now, Ate?
We’re already in the airport and planning to go in the philippines now.
“I’m not pangit, you ugly old hag,” reklamo niya pa kaya agad ko siyang nilingon.
“Camillia.”
You’re so annoying lang po.”
“Good morning, Ma’am.”
“Mama? What’s happening?” tanong ni Camillia sa akin. Gusto kong tumakbo but I know… I know that I won’t be able to run anymore. But the heck with that brute! We haven’t see each other!
He’ll fucking make my life hell.
Malas.
“What are you doing here?” malakas kong sigaw sa kaniya.
They said that Camillia looks at me but people haven’t seen him. She looks like the little version of him but with soft features.
“Wait! Is that my Papa?” pabulong na tanong ni Camillia sa akin.
I sometimes thought that he was just a statue na tinubuan ng gwapong mukha. Madalas walang mababasang ekspresiyon ang kaniyang mukha but now, halo-halong emosiyon ang makikita rito.
“I’ll take the custody of my daughter,” matigas na ingles ang pinakawalan nito.
“Sa akin din ang ina ng anak ko.”
20 years later…. Somewhere in the deserted lands. A woman’s breaths came in ragged gasps as she sprinted through the desolate streets, her heart pounding in her chest. Her clothing was tattered and filthy, remnants of once-sturdy fabric now hanging in rags. Dirt and grime smeared her skin, and blood trickled from a fresh cut on her forehead, the result of a close encounter with a jagged piece of debris. The cold, ashen wind whipped through her tangled hair, stinging her eyes and stealing what little warmth her body had left. Clutched tightly in her arms was a small, precious bundle of food—enough to sustain her for a few days, maybe more if rationed carefully. She had risked everything to obtain it, but now she was paying the price. Behind her, a frenzied mob gave chase, their faces twisted with desperation and hunger. Shouts, growls and curses echoed through the empty streets, the sound growing louder with each passing moment. Sera's legs burned with exhaustion, every muscle
The scene begins with silence, broken only by Aiden’s anguished sobs. The patch of grass beneath his knees feels cold, damp from the dew of a night that would never see dawn. His fingers rake the earth, trembling as he claws at it, desperate to find some semblance of reality in a world that seemed to crumble before his eyes.“No…” His voice is hoarse, barely audible. “This can’t be real… No…”He shakes his head violently, his tears falling onto the grass. His breath comes in sharp, uneven bursts as he presses his palms into the ground, trying to push himself to his feet. When he finally stands, his legs wobble beneath him, threatening to collapse with the weight of his despair. He turns his gaze to Saph, crouching beside him, her small frame trembling as she cries into her hands.“Saph,” he whispers, his voice cracking as he grabs her shoulders and pulls her up to face him. “Hey, Saph. Don’t cry, okay? Don’t worry. They’re fine—Momma and Dad are fine.”His words sound hollow even to h
Zachary’s body felt heavy, his heart throbbing like a wound that refused to heal. He could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on him, each breath more labored than the last. The storm, the crashing waves, the air—their fury was a palpable force, like a dark hand creeping toward him. He closed his eyes, resigned to the inevitable. The world was ending, and there was nothing left to fight for.“Goodbye, Son,” he whispered hoarsely, the words laced with a sorrow too deep to express.“Aiden... Dadda loves you.” The finality of it cut through him like a dagger, sharp and unforgiving.“Nooooo!” Aiden’s scream broke through the tension, raw and frantic. Zachary’s heart clenched as the sound echoed around him—his son, desperate, helpless. But before the torrent could touch him, before the wind could tear him apart and the water could swallow him whole, a figure appeared—Eirene. She moved with a fierce determination, her body blocking the inevitable like a shield. Her palms extended o
Aiden’s right leg was impatiently thumping against the wooden floor, his hands clammy as he looked up at the ticking wall clock. Two hours have passed, he can feel the tremors every few minutes, but since the last ten minutes there have been none. He couldn't help pray to the moon goddess. Everyone please be fine. Moon goddess please protect them. A hand rests on his shaking leg and Aiden looks up to meet Saph’s eyes( Sera and Saph are the same). “ Calm down. They are gonna be fine.” He interlocks his fingers with her to press them to his chest. Closing his eyes. He takes deep breath when he feels that gnawing in his chest return.Something is wrong… terribly wrong. He can feel it. The pain, the desperation. “ This is enough. I can’t stay here anymore.” Getting up on his feet Aiden proclaims when Raven’s anxious eyes meet his. They have brought Aiden here, miles away from the battlefield before the war even began. These were Eirene and Zach’s instructions and the little b
