Sydney

The door clicked shut after Tyler, and for the first minute, it was just me.

I slid carefully off the counter and turned to the mirror, immediately catching that stupid smile that refused to go away, my cheeks burning so brightly, you’d think someone had painted them red.

So much for Maeve’s concealer.

Somehow, I could still feel Tyler’s lips on mine, his hands gently on my cheeks like he was scared I’d disappear if he held me any tighter.

And even though he’d basically smudged my makeup

  • Too Big to Fit.   Chapter 97

SydneyThe door clicked shut after Tyler, and for the first minute, it was just me.I slid carefully off the counter and turned to the mirror, immediately catching that stupid smile that refused to go away, my cheeks burning so brightly, you’d think someone had painted them red.So much for Maeve’s concealer.Somehow, I could still feel Tyler’s lips on mine, his hands gently on my cheeks like he was scared I’d disappear if he held me any tighter. And even though he’d basically smudged my makeup and completely ruined my lip gloss…It was totally worth it.I swallowed back a squeal, the butterflies in my stomach refusing to die. Then my phone buzzed on the counter again.I picked it up almost immediately and accepted it.“Girl, where the hell are you?” Maeve’s voice came through immediately. Loud enough I could hear it over the basketball players’ names being chanted in the background.Clearly, she was back in the club.I bit the inside of my cheek, still staring at my reflection.“I to

  • Too Big to Fit.   Chapter 96

SydneyYes, Tyler Sinclair kissed me.A sharp breath escaped me, my eyes fluttering shut on their own as I stumbled back, my spine meeting the sink softly.‘Oh, my god!’ something roared in my head. Then everything else faded. The buzzing lights, the distant bass from the party, every fear I’d carried into that bathroom. Every single time I’d stuffed myself into some large hoodie to hide myself from Tyler Sinclair…they all sank down some invisible drain. And all I felt was Tyler. His mouth on mine—soft at first, like he still needed permission to let his thumb brush against my fat cheeks and gently nibble my lower lip.I let out a soft gasp then, and that was all he needed. He deepened the kiss, his lips parting mine in a quiet hunger that made heat pool low in my stomach. My hands came up to his jacket, gripping it tight in my fingers, never letting go.And neither did he.Instead, his hand trailed down, settling at my waist as he pulled me flush against him.‘Push him away, Sydney

  • Too Big to Fit.   Chapter 95

SydneyMy breath seized the second I turned and saw Tyler standing there.Honestly, it could have been anyone else. It could have been Maeve chasing after me because she saw me running.Maybe Brooklyn. Or Tracy.Or even that girl who’d just left. But it was Tyler Sinclair who’d walked through that door. Standing in that denim jacket and jeans, the brace on his hand somehow making the entire look more intentional.‘My God,’ my stupid brain exhaled, encouraging my heart to do that thing that made it sound like a broken engine.“Tyler—”“Before you say anything,” he said, voice echoing off the tiles. “I didn’t hit Dean.”I paused, my breathing slowing just a fraction. “I know.” I said quietly. “There’s no blood on your hand.”He actually glanced at his hand like he was just realizing. Then he let out something in-between a scoff and a chuckle.“Right.”Silence followed then. Thick and heavy, with only the muffled thump of the music outside the door. But I focused on breathing, hoping it

Sydney “Hey! Mama’s boy!” he laughed. “Didn’t think they’d let you off the leash.”Tyler didn’t laugh.Or blink.“Ha ha, very funny, Dean,” his voice was too calm. “Now why don’t you take your clownery somewhere it’s needed.”“Oh come on, a little entertainment never hurt anyone.” Dean looked toward me.But Tyler was faster. One step was all he took, and he was standing between us, blocking Dean’s view of me almost completely, his face inches apart from Dean’s.My heart slammed against my ribs.“You don’t want to do this, Dean.” Tyler’s voice dropped. “Walk away.”“Or what?’ The amusement on Dean’s face was infuriating. “You’d punch me again? Get your perfect mummy and her lawyers involved?”He laughed. My bladder churned. And I knew that feeling very well.I saw the veins stand out on Tyler’s neck, his good hand curl into a fist.‘No,’‘No, not again.’But I couldn’t move. Or speak.“You know you’re supposed to be in jail, right?” Tyler asked.Dean scoffed in his face. “Why don’t y

  • Too Big to Fit.   Chapter 93

SydneyI couldn’t move. I didn’t know how to do that at that moment.I just sat there, that cup pleading for mercy under my grip as I watched Tyler Sinclair weave through the flood of bodies in my direction.I should've been thrilled, right? I mean, I’d imagined something close to this when Maeve forced my body into that top.Tyler had left his friends and was walking towards me, despite the hundreds of eyes in the building. That is what I wanted, right?Wrong.Because somehow, my heart was lodged in my throat, my eyes still on him even when Brooklyn bumped into him and made him stop.He flashed her a small smile, and she said something. Something I couldn’t place by just staring.‘Breathe, Sydney.’I dragged in a sharp breath and blinked, finally putting the cup away before it spilled over and my scent matched whatever it contained. This would have been the perfect time for Maeve to come back. Maybe look straight through me and I’d confess that I was terrified. Not of Tyler exactly.

  • Too Big to Fit.   Chapter 92

TylerThat party was for redemption. To forget about everything for one day and drown out Dad’s voice after the lecture he’d given me earlier over the phone. At least that was what I told myself when I climbed into Mom’s car despite the brace, trailing behind Micheal and Brooklyn in his Dad’s sports car, which he’d taken without permission. And if Micheal or any other person would've asked me earlier that day, I would have sworn I wouldn’t see Sydney Walker at that party.I mean, the party was fine, drinks tasted like shit as usual, people were already halfway drunk before the main thing even began. And I planned to stay out of whatever game they were playing.Because well, some of us had to remain sober enough to get the others home. And frankly, the game was funny at first. People were drinking to things that basically confirmed they were complete assholes, then laughing it off like it was completely normal.Because explain to me how ruining friendships and hooking up on the boys’ l
