I turned and ran before either woman noticed me, and my heart rang wildly.

My mind was screaming at me to find Kael, to tell someone, anyone, what I had just heard.

I then stumbled through the garden path, and breathing ragged.

Tears were already blurring my vision, when suddenly a dark shape lunged from the shadows ahead of me.

I screamed and stumbled backward, and then the masked figure raised something sharp toward me.
