Nora's POV
I stepped out of the library gloomily.
The incident earlier really gave me a fright.
While walking down the stairs, I came across a few boys huddled on the staircase.
Initially, I was going to ignore them and make my way out, but as soon as the word ‘racing’ left their mouths, I stopped in my tracks and listened to them intently.
A car racing event was going to be held tonight at Mt. Akimbo, the tallest mountain in Kingstown. The boys were basically lamenting over how they couldn’t join the event, even if they wanted to because of their terrible driving skills.
After I took in the information, I half jogged down the stairs and rushed home.
I was 16 when I was introduced to the racing world by my cousin when we were vacationing in Tokyo.
I remember us creating fake ids and sneaking inside the event as it was illegal for underage people to driv
Nora's POVAs I drove towards the top, I could see many cars parked at the side. All of which were expensive high-performance sports cars.Getting off the car, I scrutinised the crowd. The crowd was rather wild today. There were 25-30 people, including girls, who were dressed in a sexy outfit that revealed their figures. They were present here to cheer on the racers. As I passed by them, the girls did not even take a second glance at me. In their eyes, I was just a pretty looking teenager. Most of them were only here to take a glimpse at ‘Cheetah’. The latter only ever took part in international events. However, as this time it was held in Kingstown, he made an exception.Rumours had it that ‘Cheetah’ was also a resident of Kingstown. Walking towards the crowd, I also noticed a few familiar faces. They were all famous racers from different cities. One of the guys in blue hair, had a walkie talkie and a list in his hand as he gave instructions to the boy next to him. I walked up to hi
On the starting line, a fiery red Bugatti and a silver Mercedes Benz lined up simultaneously. The crowd surrounded behind them and shrieked with excitement. However, the cheers were only directed towards Liam. A strikingly hot girl in a deep A-line dress stood between the cars. Raising a flag, she waved it twice before announcing loudly, “Start!” A shot rang out from the flare gun. The two cars shot out like arrows, leaving the bowstrings. Nora stepped on the accelerator below her foot, and the car picked up speed. Currently, she was leading the race. Her pouty lips curled up in confidence as the car drifted around the corner and then on the straight road. Just then the red Buggati picked up speed and overtook her. Gritting her teeth, Nora escalated the pressure on the accelerator below her foot and caught up to him. In no time, she took the lead once more.As she relaxed her
The car drove down the mountain to the nearest hospital. Throughout the ride, Liam kept glancing at Nora. She sat there in a daze yet to recover from the shock. Her head was lowered, and her eyebrows tightly knitted. Her complexion turning paler with every second and she kept bitting her lower lips to hide her discomfort. Just with a glance, one could tell how much she was suffering. But even then, she did not cry or let out a whimper. Seeing her suffering, Liam felt as if an invisible hand was squeezing his heart, making it difficult to breathe. It was as though he was the one who was injured. His behavior also surprised him. Why was he feeling so concerned about her? Why did it matter if she was fine or not? Why was he acting so strange? There were so many whys popping up in his mind, but right now his only priority was to make sure she was okay. Stepping on the accelerator, he sped towards the hospital. - - - At the hospital. Liam parked the car and walked to the o
Bradford High Rowan Reyes, the homeroom teacher, took out his handkerchief and wiped off the sweat from his forehead for umpteen times. The pressure in the room was chilling, making him suffocated and sweat profusely. At last, he couldn’t take anymore and stood up, slamming the table. “Miss Nora Shahan, why are you staring at me as if I’ve asked for your share of inheritance? It's just a project.” She was just a petite high school girl, but if looks could kill, he could have been long dead from the glare she threw at him. And the ancestor beside her was even more terrifying than her. God! What crime did he commit in his last life to have these two troublemakers as his students? In the last row, Nora, who was shooting daggers at the teacher, scoffed at his nonsense. Just a project? He called it just a project? Apparently, the students were grouped for a project for their upcoming summit. And blame it on her unfortunate luck, she was paired with Liam. No, she wasn’t actually pa
The next day, as agreed, Liam and Nora met in the library of the regular building. They sat opposite each other on the table, doing their respective works.Nora immersed herself completely in the project.
Two hours later, Nora was finally done with the reports. As it was late, they had moved to the special building. Stretching out her hands, she packed her stuff and placed the reports on the table. Meanwhile, Liam was also done playing on his phone. He did not look at the file and placed it inside the drawer. “I’ll check it out tomorrow.” “Suit yourself” she grabbed her bag and walked out of the office. Liam followed behind in unhurried steps. As they neared the elevator, Nora halted in her tracks and asked over her shoulders. “Why are you following me?” Liam felt the urge to roll his eyes at her. Stretching out his legs, he bumped into her shoulders. “Please.” He entered the elevator. Nora stood on her spot, her eyes moving to the man inside the elevator. “In or not?”Liam asked when he saw her standing still in her place. Nora snorted and s
Turning to her side, Nora opened her eyes groggily when Jessica’s face enlarged in her vision. She sat up with a start and placed her hand on her chest. “What are you doing? Trying to kill me?” Jessica sat up lazily beside her and replied, “That’s what I want to ask you. What exactly have you been up to?” “Hold on a sec, what am I doing at your place?” The last thing she remembered, she was trapped inside the elevator with Liam. “You don’t remember anything?” Jessica asked in disbelief. Nora shook her head. “My memories stop when I was stuck in the elevator and I feel too lazy to use my brain.” Jessica’s mouth twitched. She inhaled sharply and started explaining. “You passed out outside the elevator and some students passing by informed Jackson about it, and he further informed me.” Nora nodded and asked hesitatingly. “What about Liam?” “Liam? I didn’t see him.” “Oh!” Nora’s eyes dimmed in disappointment, but she quickly brushed it away and plastered a smile on he
God knew how much he had to restrain himself from pulling her into his arms. Were the heavens finally noticing his efforts? Liam was, in fact, aware of everything. The way she was striking a conversation with him and doing errors to make him talk to her. Actually, he didn’t mean to ignore her, but now that he thought about it, it was absolutely worth it. And the girl was so fucking adorably cute. Although she was trying her best to hide the obviousness, her eyes terribly gave her away. She didn’t know, but his attention was always on her. And when Nancy arrived, he wasn’t oblivious to the hostility she showed towards her. It was the same he had whenever she was with her boy toy. That only made him further happy, and his eye crinkled into a smile that even he wasn’t aware of. He never had the intention to leave her alone or push the workload on her. Therefore, when Nancy proposed for lunch, he stalled her. It was a rare opportunity for them to be together, and he wasn’t stupid t
