“SADIE! HEY LITTLE WHITE RABBIT, Don't you dare ignore ME!” Jaxon shouted out angrily across the grassy field then started to jog to shorten the distance between us. The persistent calling of my name grated against my nerves as I quickly followed Nina into our building. “Isn't that Mister Hot and Dangerous calling out for you?” Nina inquired with a smirk. “I don't hear anything, Nina. Let's go to our room,” I stressed adamantly, and heard her snickering at me as I pushed her towards the staircase. “I don't know why he wants to speak with me considering how rude he was with me before,” I muttered sourly. Shrugging casually, Nina walked up the stairs and offered that maybe he had changed his heart. Pffting at her I snorted, “I don't believe that he has that specific organ and takes after his crappy brother in that regard.” “Just be careful, Sadie. At the assembly, it sounded like he was a special high-ranking wolf, and you know how belligerent those sorts of Alphas can be when they're not worshipped,” Nina warned. Nodding, I told her that I would be extremely cautious as she unlocked our room. I quickly shut the door, then locked it behind us, not feeling at all at ease after her warning. Sliding the door chain lock added little comfort. I feared Jaxon Norris was going to be bothersome for me and not in a pleasant way. I didn't have any firsthand experience with future Alphas or Lunas having only been secluded with other Omegas and Gammas of the pack I was in. The higher-ranking wolves did, however, attend the same pack school, so when I first met my ex Justin, I was smitten like a lovely sick fool by his status. None of that hierarchy fazed me anymore. “I'm not going to get involved with another highborn male, ever,” I muttered sourly and caught Nina's ear. “You might get a blood match to one, girl, you never know,” she hummed as I narrowed my eyes at her and growled, “No.” She shook her head as she turned off her table lamp and then pulled the blanket down. “I have more important issues to focus on, Nina. First I need to head to the campus book store to get my workbooks for my classes, then check if there are any part-time jobs available,” I mumbled with a sigh as I sat on the edge of my bed. “Are you broke broke?” Pinching my mouth I hummed in thought. “I have a few hundred dollars in my bank account but I'm not sure about the cost of my subject books. Hopefully they'll have used ones,” I stated honestly. “I can help you out, if you need it,” she offered with a grin. “Let's get some beauty sleep and worry about it in the morning,” she added with a yawn. We both fell asleep but were awakened by our cellphones' notifications going off. Rubbing my sleep-filled eyes, I asked her what it was since my cell was across the room still on the charger. “Assembly for all students tomorrow at ten for the results of the blood tests,” she stated with a curled lip then added, “Guess they can't wait until Friday. Strange.” “That is strange and awfully quick, huh? So much for job hunting and getting my class supplies,” I groaned as I covered my eyes with my forearm and lay back down. “I'll set my alarm for nine.” “Okay,” I yawned as I tried to fall back asleep. My sleep was fitful with Stormy whimpering continuously in my head. When Nina's alarm went off I growled sourly and rolled to my side. “You can stay in bed, the school sent another silent notice that the lab needs to retest some of the blood samples, so yeah, for our beauty sleep,” Nina huffed, tossed her cell phone, and lay back down. An hour later, my phone started to ring, and I scrambled out of my bed to answer it. “Hello?” “Miss Simmons, this is Nancy, the academy nurse. I'm sure you're aware that some of the students need their blood retested?” Furrowing my brow, I eyed Nina and told the nurse Yes. “I need another vial from you so please stop by at your earliest convenience,” she asserted. “I will be there shortly,” I replied and the nurse said, “Great.” Seeing that Nina was still sawing logs and deeply asleep, I quietly got ready. Looking through my packed suitcase I came across my family photo and eyed it with mixed emotions. I loved my mom and missed her, I sighed at the thought. She was the only member of my family who encouraged me to better myself and not rely on any man to provide for me. Placing the framed photo on my side table I picked out some jeans and a simple white blouse. Taking the spare room key, I pocketed my cell phone, grabbed my wallet, and headed to the campus infirmary. “I can stop by the bookstore for my class supplies on the way back,” I surmised. Entering the building where the nurse was located I narrowed my eyes at Jaxon leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. His two color eyes rose to me then widened while the corner of his lip curled slightly. “Well, look what the cat dragged in, a little white rabbit,” he snickered cruelly. “Leave her alone, Norris,” another male voice growled, and I swallowed uncomfortably, seeing it was Aiden Shaw. “Shut up, Shaw, and mind your own damn business, or I will have Margo dump your cheap ass,” Jaxon snarled. I ignored them both and stepped between them to enter the nurse's office then felt an electric current travel down my spine as I moved between them both. “What was that?” I questioned my wolf but she just chuckled at me as I met the nurse. After giving more of my blood I left the nurse and stepped out into the hall to see only Jaxon still leaning against the wall. “Are you stalking me?” I questioned boldly and he snorted rudely in response. “No, I had to give more blood for their stupid matching system.” He straightened his arm to show me the cotton ball covered with a bandage on his arm. “Can I ask you something?” Lowering my eyes from his I shrugged as I continued walking toward the exit. “Wait up, I want to know if the curtains match the drapes. Natural white hair is uncommon,” he commented. Screwing my face I eyed him with disgust and rolled my eyes. “You're gross, but if you need to know the answer, ask your brother,” I muttered sourly. His eyes began to narrow, as he jumped forward, pinning me against the hallway wall. Fear erupted in my chest as I cringed waiting for him to strike me. When nothing happened, I peeked up at him, studying my face with his odd eyes. “Why are your eyes two different colors?” I inquired softly, and he shoved me with a scowl on his handsome face and then stormed away from me. I was completely dumbfounded.Jaxon Norris pov Anger. Unadulterated fury filled me the moment I saw Sadie. My wolf roared in my head after seeing her bruised face and bloody lip, then hearing that Justin was responsible, took me over the edge. The feeling of being a protector was foreign to me, but I knew for certain that I was drawn to Sadie, even without the ridiculous blood matching. My heart clenched when I saw her in the cafeteria for the first time and I lost all reasoning in the shower after our kiss. Still, I did not want a relationship, knowing that I could never give something that I was unfamiliar with, which was love. She deserved it, and with her being a silver wolf, she would expect it. Grim, my wolf was chomping to rip my brother's ass apart as I strode to the men's dorm. I planned to go straight to his room and told Grim to settle down. I had to remain calm and collected or take a chance and get thrown out of the Academy. Taking the stairs two at a time I stood at Justin's door and heard s
Sadie Simmons pov Heading toward my former dorm room building I wiped the tears from my eyes and avoided the other students mingling about. I hurried up the stairs and then rushed to the closed door. I started frantically pounding on the door of the room I had been in just days ago. The tears I tried holding back escaped and rolled painfully down my cheek. “I'm COMING! Hold your ass hairs,” Nina's voice shouted out. Not long after the door opened. “WHAT HAPPENED!?” she screeched as she pulled me inside. “My ex is an asshole,” I muttered sourly, and she told me to sit on her bed while she rushed to the tiny refrigerator and pulled out a cold water bottle. Presenting it to me she said, “Hold it to the side of your face. Damn girl, did he punch you?” Shaking my head, I sighed, “He slapped me really hard.” Sitting beside me she growled then said, “I heard you got matched.” Side-eyeing her I snorted. “I got matched to two, the dangerous hottie and Aiden Shaw,” I mumbled and watche
Sadie Simmons pov Sleeping like the dead, I woke, with drool all over my pillow. Blinking my eyes several times, uncertain about the sight before me I furrowed my brow. Jaxon was asleep propped up against my bedroom wall next to his open room door. Hearing light snores coming from behind me, I turned to see Aiden lying hunched over against the opposite wall near his door. “What the hell? Did they babysit me while I slept?” I questioned Stormy uncomfortably. Having to pee I scooted slowly out of bed and stepped towards my ensuite. Unfortunately, I shrieked when Jaxon grabbed my ankle and started to fall forward. He quickly yanked me back by wrapping his arms around my waist. I fell onto his lap with him grinning down at me. “Good morning, Sadie,” he whispered. “I have to pee,” I growled, causing his mood to shift. “Then go, I'm not holding you back,” he asserted while lifting his arms, and I pinched my mouth, realizing that I was sitting freely on his lap. How
Aiden Shaw pov My thoughts drifted to Margo as I ate my dinner. Past memories of her sipping on her shot instead of taking it all at once made me glance at Sadie and grin. Sadie was such a lovely young woman; she didn't have a problem downing her shots in one gulp, and her lips were soft when I kissed her. Still, I felt like I was betraying Margo, but knew I needed Sadie if I was to become Alpha of the White Mountain pack. Still watching Sadie taking demure bites of her dinner my eyes glowed in appreciation. Catching my foe glaring at me, checking out Sadie, I grinned slightly. “You gotta a problem Shaw?” Jaxon questioned me aggressively. “Nope, just enjoying the company…well minus yours of course,” I responded to see his lip curl sourly. After we finished eating, Sadie excused herself, telling us that she was tired and was heading to bed. Wishing her a good night, Jaxon side-eyed me and said, "Wait up, Shaw. We need to finish our civil discussion.” Looking at him
Sadie Simmons pov We were all drunk and were in the middle of a hand of strip poker. The rules were simple: if you lost a round, you could either take a shot or remove an article of clothing. Down three bottles, the fourth bottle was half empty. The cards I held in my hand looked a little fuzzy, but I discarded two, hoping for another king. It was Jaxon’s turn, and he was in boxers and his t-shirt, unlike Aiden, who was only in his briefs. It was a nice sight and I was pleasantly surprised by his physique. Rubbing his chin, Jaxon glanced back at Aiden, then threw away his entire hand. “Risky,” Aiden chuckled as he dealt me two cards and then dealt five new cards to Jaxon. Flipping my three kings over, I grinned slightly at seeing I had beaten Aiden. Jaxon, on the other hand, looked at his cards, growled sourly, then tossed them onto the table. “I quit, it's late anyway and our chef never showed,” he asserted. “I can prepare something for us,” I offered, slurring my
Sadie Simmons pov Standing awkwardly in my bedroom, ready to head downstairs, I turned to see Jaxon coming through Aiden's door and strolling through my room to his. “You couldn't use the hall?” I questioned stiffly. Pausing in his doorway he glanced back at me with narrowed eyes. “Do you make a habit of kissing men willy-nilly, or are you a back-stabbing whore like my mother, Sadie?” Gaping at him in disbelief I shook my head and said, “I'm not a whore and isn't your mother my pack Luna?” Stepping back into my room Jaxon nodded. “Have you met her?” Shaking my head, I told him that I hadn't. His brow furrowed at me. “But you dated my brother for a few years? Surely you were introduced at some point.” Lowering my eyes from his unique ones I exhaled softly and decided to share some of my past. “Justin hid our relationship from his parents because I was an omega, a low-class shewolf, and an embarrassment to him, plus he was seeing Vivian behind my back,” I explain
