Sadie Simmons pov

“SADIE! HEY LITTLE WHITE RABBIT, Don't you dare ignore ME!” Jaxon shouted out angrily across the grassy field then started to jog to shorten the distance between us.

The persistent calling of my name grated against my nerves as I quickly followed Nina into our building.

“Isn't that Mister Hot and Dangerous calling out for you?” Nina inquired with a smirk.

“I don't hear anything, Nina. Let's go to our room,” I stressed adamantly, and heard her snickering at me as I pushed her towards the staircase.

“I don't know why he wants to speak with me considering how rude he was with me before,” I muttered sourly.

Shrugging casually, Nina walked up the stairs and offered that maybe he had changed his heart.

Pffting at her I snorted, “I don't believe that he has that specific organ and takes after his crappy brother in that regard.”

“Just be careful, Sadie. At the assembly, it sounded like he was a special high-ranking wolf, and you know how belligerent those sorts of Alphas can be when they're not worshipped,” Nina warned.

Nodding, I told her that I would be extremely cautious as she unlocked our room. I quickly shut the door, then locked it behind us, not feeling at all at ease after her warning. Sliding the door chain lock added little comfort. I feared Jaxon Norris was going to be bothersome for me and not in a pleasant way. I didn't have any firsthand experience with future Alphas or Lunas having only been secluded with other Omegas and Gammas of the pack I was in. The higher-ranking wolves did, however, attend the same pack school, so when I first met my ex Justin, I was smitten like a lovely sick fool by his status.

None of that hierarchy fazed me anymore.

“I'm not going to get involved with another highborn male, ever,” I muttered sourly and caught Nina's ear.

“You might get a blood match to one, girl, you never know,” she hummed as I narrowed my eyes at her and growled, “No.”

She shook her head as she turned off her table lamp and then pulled the blanket down.

“I have more important issues to focus on, Nina. First I need to head to the campus book store to get my workbooks for my classes, then check if there are any part-time jobs available,” I mumbled with a sigh as I sat on the edge of my bed.

“Are you broke broke?”

Pinching my mouth I hummed in thought.

“I have a few hundred dollars in my bank account but I'm not sure about the cost of my subject books. Hopefully they'll have used ones,” I stated honestly.

“I can help you out, if you need it,” she offered with a grin.

“Let's get some beauty sleep and worry about it in the morning,” she added with a yawn.

We both fell asleep but were awakened by our cellphones' notifications going off.

Rubbing my sleep-filled eyes, I asked her what it was since my cell was across the room still on the charger.

“Assembly for all students tomorrow at ten for the results of the blood tests,” she stated with a curled lip then added, “Guess they can't wait until Friday. Strange.”

“That is strange and awfully quick, huh? So much for job hunting and getting my class supplies,” I groaned as I covered my eyes with my forearm and lay back down.

“I'll set my alarm for nine.”

“Okay,” I yawned as I tried to fall back asleep.

My sleep was fitful with Stormy whimpering continuously in my head.

When Nina's alarm went off I growled sourly and rolled to my side.

“You can stay in bed, the school sent another silent notice that the lab needs to retest some of the blood samples, so yeah, for our beauty sleep,” Nina huffed, tossed her cell phone, and lay back down.

An hour later, my phone started to ring, and I scrambled out of my bed to answer it.

“Hello?”

“Miss Simmons, this is Nancy, the academy nurse. I'm sure you're aware that some of the students need their blood retested?”

Furrowing my brow, I eyed Nina and told the nurse Yes.

“I need another vial from you so please stop by at your earliest convenience,” she asserted.

“I will be there shortly,” I replied and the nurse said, “Great.”

Seeing that Nina was still sawing logs and deeply asleep, I quietly got ready.

Looking through my packed suitcase I came across my family photo and eyed it with mixed emotions. I loved my mom and missed her, I sighed at the thought. She was the only member of my family who encouraged me to better myself and not rely on any man to provide for me.

Placing the framed photo on my side table I picked out some jeans and a simple white blouse. Taking the spare room key, I pocketed my cell phone, grabbed my wallet, and headed to the campus infirmary.

“I can stop by the bookstore for my class supplies on the way back,” I surmised.

Entering the building where the nurse was located I narrowed my eyes at Jaxon leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.

His two color eyes rose to me then widened while the corner of his lip curled slightly.

“Well, look what the cat dragged in, a little white rabbit,” he snickered cruelly.

“Leave her alone, Norris,” another male voice growled, and I swallowed uncomfortably, seeing it was Aiden Shaw.

“Shut up, Shaw, and mind your own damn business, or I will have Margo dump your cheap ass,” Jaxon snarled.

I ignored them both and stepped between them to enter the nurse's office then felt an electric current travel down my spine as I moved between them both.

“What was that?” I questioned my wolf but she just chuckled at me as I met the nurse.

After giving more of my blood I left the nurse and stepped out into the hall to see only Jaxon still leaning against the wall.

“Are you stalking me?” I questioned boldly and he snorted rudely in response.

“No, I had to give more blood for their stupid matching system.”

He straightened his arm to show me the cotton ball covered with a bandage on his arm.

“Can I ask you something?”

Lowering my eyes from his I shrugged as I continued walking toward the exit.

“Wait up, I want to know if the curtains match the drapes. Natural white hair is uncommon,” he commented.

Screwing my face I eyed him with disgust and rolled my eyes.

“You're gross, but if you need to know the answer, ask your brother,” I muttered sourly.

His eyes began to narrow, as he jumped forward, pinning me against the hallway wall.

Fear erupted in my chest as I cringed waiting for him to strike me.

When nothing happened, I peeked up at him, studying my face with his odd eyes.

“Why are your eyes two different colors?” I inquired softly, and he shoved me with a scowl on his handsome face and then stormed away from me.

I was completely dumbfounded.

Sadie Sterling pov Panicked, that's what I was feeling as I lay down on the leather couch and stared at the door. Relief flooded me when Janet, my midwife, came inside carrying towels and blankets, with Sasha trailing after carrying a pail of water. “Can you make it upstairs to the birthing room?" She asked and I furrowed my brow as I shook my head. “My legs feel like rubber bands with every contraction,” I muttered sourly and watched her grin prettily and say, “At least let me lay towels down on the buffalo leather couch.” I stood up awkwardly while she laid out towels then I got situated. “Seeing Sasha I asked her to get my cellphone off the desk and call her dad. “Please let him know that his son is coming, “ I hissed and felt my insides ripping apart. “Oh shit! Why does it hurt like that?!” “He has strong powers and can't control them yet so you're getting zapped from the inside,” Sasha explained while holding my phone. Looking down between my legs I shrieked. “My hooha

Sadie Sterling povStepping into Aamon's suite, I was surprised to see Aiden sitting up in bed, looking haggard. His eyes rose to meet mine, and I froze for a moment, seeing them shine red. He also had an unshaven appearance, which gave him an air of rogueness and maturity that extended beyond his years.“It's because he's converted more from Aamon's bite,” Stormy informed me as I stepped closer to his side.“I'm glad that you are well, Aiden,” I said softly at seeing his fangs had also grown back.Exhaling deeply he nodded and blinked, turning his eyes back to their original color.“Aamon told me that you wanted to die, why?” I asked with concern. He grabbed my hands and looked at me longingly.“Sadie Sterling, I know that you are mated with Ian but I am your mate too. I don't know how to deal with you being with another,” he asserted as I swallowed uncomfortably and shook my head.“We aren't mates, Wolfcrest Academy's blood matching system is a farce. Plus I love Ian and only want t

Sadie Sterling pov Looking at my reflection I chewed on my bottom lip as I focused on the form-fitting bodice. Thankfully it covered my scarred back although my breasts looked plump and made me self-conscious. Resting his chin on my collarbone Ian grinned as he looked at me in the mirror. He looked devastatingly handsome in his royal blue suit making my mouth water in appreciation. “You're a freaking Goddess, Sadie,” he purred while my cheeks reddened feeling his fingers roaming around my hips. “Keep touching me that way and I will pounce on you,” I mumbled softly, making him chuckle while he nibbled on my exposed skin. “Ian…,” I moaned as shivers of desire along with arcs of electricity coursed through my body. He pecked me swiftly then apologized for getting me worked up. “We can finish this after the ball, my dear mate,” he said softly as I turned around and kissed him tenderly. A knock on our door broke us apart and I went to answer it to see my dad looking concerned.

Sadie Sterling pov Kneeling before Aiden I cupped his sunken cheeks and asked him what happened. Standing behind me Ian huffed, “Someone pulled out his fangs so he can't eat. He's got dried blood on his lips and chin.” Mortified by that my bottom lip trembled. Standing awkwardly I pulled Aiden up to his unsteady feet and gave Ian a pleading glance. “There has to be something that can be done, a blood transfusion perhaps?” “Let's take him to Aamon Dannag. He might know,” Ian asserted while Aiden pulled back. “He will kill me,” he wheezed. I reassured him that I would stop him but Ian hissed through his clenched teeth. “He may, Sadie,” he asserted and I shook my head in determination. “I will stop him if he tries,” I stressed adamantly. Helping Aiden walk by having him propped against my shoulder I asked who took his fangs and tears started to form in his eyes. “Vivian's father blamed me for her death and said I would suffer. His guards held me down while he used pliers to y

Sadie Sterling povShaken internally by seeing Jaxon die so violently yet again I was emotionally drained. Returning to the living room Ian knew instantly that something was wrong.I stood there trembling when he hurried over and held me. It hurt because, regardless of what Jaxon had done, he had been my mate, and my heart ached over him.“Jaxon is now truly DEAD. He was in the room with the dresses and used this to suppress my power,” I muttered as I tossed the copper chain toward my dad.“The Vaewolves have learned how to contain us. We should have known after they tied up Sasha,” I huffed angrily.Aamon Dannag stepped into the living room wiping his hands together and said, “Sorry for the small burn mark on your floor. I will reimburse you for the cost to have it repaired.”“So taking their heads isn't enough, we must burn the bodies?” Caspian asserted in annoyance.Shaking his head Aamon said no.“That boy was the only one and perhaps his bio dad Mack that will need to be burned d

Sadie Sterling pov After he calmed himself down he mumbled, “I thought you would tell me he was my daughter's mate.” Swallowing uncomfortably I sputtered, “You knew?” Nodding slowly he said, “Yeah he informed me when Sasha was first born. I told him that I've known him for years and trusted him to do the proper thing of waiting until she reached adulthood.” Sasha was looking between the two of us and rolling her eyes at her dad. “I don't like him like that, Dad,” she huffed, making him screw his face. “You just worry about being a child, Sasha,” he asserted. Exhaling deeply, I said, 'Okay, then,' and suggested that we find my dad. Ian carried his daughter while we went searching for Caspian within the mansion. He was easy to locate and was in his living room entertaining Elizabeth with alcohol. “If I didn't know better I would accuse you of being an alcoholic, father,” I muttered sourly and noticed that he eyed me incredulously. “I can handle my liquor, dear chil
