Chapter 8

Alexey's POV

I groggily opened my eyes with a grunt that swept through my lips. I felt a grip on my hand, and when I looked, it was Elijah.

He was seated right beside me, and his face sank in worriness.

“You're going to be fine,” he promised, his face squeezed with a false smile.

The sound of the creaking door interrupted the atmosphere, and a doctor walked in. He bowed to Elijah before approaching me.

“How do you feel…” He paused, trying to figure out how to address me.

“Luna,” Elijah briskly said before I could utter a word.

The doctor's eyes opened, bewildered, as he took another glance at me and quickly lowered his gaze.

“How do you feel, Luna?” He started, his voice filled with high respect that was lost in his first address.

This was what I dreamt of—how I dreamt of being treated.

Elijah should have been my first mate; he deserves more than a second chance.

“Just dizzy. I thought I was being weak as usual, but it's getting too much and too frequent,” I said in a faint voice.
