Chapter 5

Lucia's POV

Since Alpha Danes came back into the room after that brief meeting Austin called him for, he had been acting strange.

While he was in the bathroom, I grabbed my phone and texted an unknown number.

“Plan B.”

“I've come too far to fail now.”

My eyes fell out through the window, it was dark and perfect weather for the plan. I got out of bed and began to dress up, Alpha Danes sneaked behind me. I have to pretend like I never noticed him sneaking up on me.

“Going somewhere?”

My heart jumped as I turned back to him, feigning my startle.

“You startled me.” A smile beamed on my face, I walked to him and wrapped my hands around his waist, hauling him closer to me.

“I'll be out for a few minutes, just taking a stroll.”

“Is that it? Do you want me to come with you?”

“No, Danes, I'm fine.”

I placed a kiss on his lips and exited the house, walking into the woods and looking back to make sure I wasn't being followed.

My step halted when I heard the rattling sound of footsteps approaching me and turned to the direction, it was precisely who I was expecting.

It was a woman, almost the same age as I am. She, unlike me, has a dark skin, oceanic blue eyes and wore a veil hat over her head.

“What went wrong?”

“Probably someone who knew about me, but I intend to ruin him along with whatever plans he has for me.”

“Did you see his face?”

“No, I had to be careful. I can't afford that fool, Danes, finding out about my plans for him.”

She nodded gently in agreement.

“Are you convinced this would work?”

“What? My plan?” I scoffed.

“No, plan B. Do you think it would work?” She cut in right before I could continue my sentence.

“If it doesn't work, we move to the next line of action. He won't be able to escape this time.” A happy grin marred my face.

Only if he could see who his real enemy was, he would have never married me. But tonight, I'll prove myself to be an ally of his. That way, I'll be able to hurt him more than he can ever imagine.

“What about my brother? How is he doing? Any improvement?”

“None that I can say of. He's not responding to treatment yet.”

A tear of mine wetted the floor. This was all because of Alpha Danes.

“But the doctor gave me his words before I left, he might regain consciousness soon.”

A sigh of relief swept through my body.

“Someone is approaching us.” I said and grabbed the lady's wrist.

We hid behind a tree, and we watched the person, it wasn't who we were expecting. It was a man who was armed with a gun and frustration laced under his eyes, seeing that he lost us.

Though I couldn't place it, but his face looked familiar. He later walked away in frustration.

“Who was that?” I asked the lady after we came out of our hiding place.

“I have no idea, I've never seen him before.”

“You don't think you were tailed here?”

“Perhaps, but I doubt it, I was careful enough when coming.”

“That is the least of my worries for now, the plan is my concern.”

“It is crawling into midnight, do you think he would still come?”

“I know him – he's ruthless and cunning, he would never let a suspicion slip him by.”

Alpha Danes's POV.

As soon as Lucia left the house, I went to Austin and together, we went to the sage.

“I guess she isn't in the house anymore.” He grinned as he got to him without sparing us a glare.

“Who are you?”

“A sage.” He looked at me, a smirk spread across the concern of his lips.

“What's your name?” Austin's deep voice bellowed.

“Sage…. I'm a sage called Sage.”

“If this is a joke, your head will part your body.”

“If it was a joke, you would be sleeping beside your beloved Lucia right now and won't have time to be help.”

That's true, but I still refuse to believe it.

“She's currently in the woods with one of her accomplices. Then, you will believe me that you've been dining your nemesis.”

“Let's go, Austin.”

We went to the living room.

“Get some men to ambush the woods, they will attack at my signal.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

“Meet me there.”

I said and made my way to the woods.

As I walked closer into the woods, my ears picked distant feminine voices conversing afar.

My greatest fear is about to happen.

I tailed their voice and saw them from afar. The moon shone its light brightly on my sweet, beautiful Lucia and a veiled woman who had her posterior turned to me.

Gently, I approached them.

“Is this the walk you told me about?”

Her heart almost jumped out of her body as she saw me, the veiled woman remained calm and still. Her head slightly tilted to the side.

“Alpha Danes? What are you doing here?”

Lucia's POV.

It worked! My plan worked.

“I could ask you the same question, traitor!” His eyes stared at me, contoured with disgust and disappointment.

“Traitor? Where is this coming from?”

“All I did was love you, I never knew you would be the one to plan a rebel against me.”

“A rebel? That must be what the sage told him. And that just made my plan perfect.”

A sly grin marred my face for some seconds.

“Did the Sage tell you that? That I'm a traitor? Well, you'll take it back when you see this.” I whined in a sing tone and tried to move closer to him, but he took some steps back.

His hand flung in the air and his soldiers came out of the woods, we were ambushed.

A straight and stern look marred my face.

“Remember the surprise I told you about? It's who instead of what, and she is the one standing.” I crossed my arms against my  chest.

The lady gently took off her veiled hat, revealing her face.

“Anna?" His voice dropped to a whisper.

“Yes, brother. It's me.”

I grinned.

“This is only the beginning, dear sage.”
