Chapter 7

Alexey's POV

I was seated in my room, staring out of the window at the beautiful flowers in the garden, when the door opened, grasping my attention.

My head tilted to the side, and I could see Alpha Elijah walk into the room through the corner of my eyes.

A soft breath escaped my lips.

He sat beside me, his eyes tracking what I was looking at.

“Do you enjoy the scenery too?” A cute smile spread across his lips as I shifted my gaze to him, and our eyes met.

“Yes, Alpha, I love watching the flowers bloom. It's a reminder that the only thing I don't have on my side is time.” I uttered it in a hushed tone, shifting my haze back to the garden.

The room was silent for a few minutes while we stared at the flowers.

“How are you doing?” He asked with such a worried tone that I couldn't tell where he was coming from.

“I'm doing well, Alpha,” I responded, my gaze fixed on the flowers.

He turned to me, and with the tip of his finger, he turned my eye to meet his.

“I mean, how are you really doing? Is the pain of rejection still there?”

His piercing eyes penetrated my soul, and a tiny tear began to build up in my eyes.

The pain crawled up my chest again. Reopening my wounded heart was something I thought Alpha Elijah was incapable of.

“How can I ever forget a day I've spent my whole life waiting for?” A scoffed traveled through my voice as a tear tracked a path down my cheek.

“You have to move on, Alexey. You've gotten a second chance from the Moon Goddess; why not make it worth it?” His deep voice bellowed, charming and soothing my heart.

“Something a second chance means you're not worth the first one, and what is life without your first experience? It sucks,” I concluded, slowly standing up and walking to the side of the bed.

My hand grasped the furniture as I fought the tears threatening to stream down my cheeks.

Alpha Elijah closed the distance between us, and his hand found my waist. My body shivered in shock.

“Maybe a second chance means the first chance wasn't worth your time. Think about it and let me know your decision by the end of tomorrow,” he said with absolute authority and demand in his voice, which complimented the stern look that marred his face.

He turned and made to leave, but my quick reflex kicked him, and I gripped his wrist.

Here's to all or nothing.

If the first rejected me and felt this way, how much pain would he be going through to face this twice?

I can't let this happen; I can no longer be that weak Omega who depends on people to survive.

I want to be a damn queen in my palace with my Alpha.

His brows raised at my grip, requesting an answer, which I gave him: a kiss.

I pulled him in, and our lips locked in a kiss.

“I'm ready to accept the mate bond,” I said while he kept staring at me with his glistening eyes.

“What? Are you sure about this?” His voice provoked a sense of danger, and he leaned closer to whisper in my ears.

“Because once you're mine, I'll mark you, claim you, and make you mine forever.” He said it with a strong emphasis on each word that sent a cold wave down my spine.

“I'm yours, Elijah. Yours to mark and claim, yours to be with forever,” I said, determined to give it my all.

He looked at me with a smile, chuckled, and exited the room without saying another word.

What? Did he also reject me?

Was he just playing along, so I could accept being his mate and he would make me go through this pain again?

Plenty of thoughts ran through my confused mind as I watched him jam the door behind him.

Suddenly, the door flung open, and about fifteen maids hurried into the room; some carried some expensive dresses, while some of them carried some make-up boxes.

“What's going on?” I asked, my voice dimmed by my quivering lips, still in shock at what was going on.

“We were asked to dress you up, Luna.” One of them said it with their heads bowed.

Luna?

A soft blush flushed through my cheeks.

Did he really accept me as his Luna?

My wolf roared in joy, ready to explode.

“Sure,” I responded with my head up high, imitating some of the Luna that had visited Danes's mansion.

I sat down, and they began to tend to me. Some worked on my nails, some on my hair, and some on my face.

About an hour later, they were done.

“We're done, Luna. You have to take a look.” Another one of the maids said:

The mirror was brought to me, and when I saw my reflection, I almost went wild. I almost could not recognize myself.

“Where's the Alpha?” I asked with my voice filled with excitement to show him my new look.

“He said he would be in the living room.”

I hurried out of the room and abruptly halted before I took the first step on the stairs.

I'm about to become Luna, and it's time I start acting like one. So, I walked slowly and majestically down the stairs, my long, wavy brown hair bouncing off my shoulder with each step.

Alpha Elijah stood there, his face glued to the stairs, and his face lit up in awe as he saw me.

“You look beyond beautiful, my queen.” He complimented me with his hands stretched out to me at the last stair.

I was about to take the last step when my head spun. Blurriness flashed in and out, but I shook it off.

“Are you okay, Alexey?” He asked with a concerned tone, and I forced a smile.

I lied.

As soon as I took his hand and took the last step, the world around me faded into deep darkness and blurriness as I stumbled into unconsciousness.
