Chapter 6

Alpha Danes's POV

I pulled Anna to a hug, the joy in me knew no bound as my nose was graced with her scent.

Has it been four years now since I last saw her? Since she was banished from the pack by our father, forced by the council?

I never thought I would be able to see her again.

"You look more beautiful," I commented with my glistening eyes as our eyes met after we pulled away from the hug.

"You've changed too, Danes. You look just like our father." She said; it was more of a lash than a compliment.

I shook my head with a forced smile that beamed on my face.

"No, Anna. I'll never become anything like him. He was weak and I'm the exact opposite of that." I giggled softly.

Lucia took a step closer to me, her eyes yearning and asking if she could come close. I closer the distance between us and fell on her shoulder, hugging her tightly.

"You have no idea what you have done for me, I'm sorry for not trusting you."

She pulled from the hug.

"Well, you can say that when you give me the justice I deserve." She uttered in a hushed tone with pouted lips and her hands crossed against her chest as a frown marred her face.

"Sure," I smiled. "I'll be sure to give you the justice you deserve."

Beta Austin approached and whispered into my ears, "What should we do now?"

My face twitched to a glare as I turned to him.

"What kind of question is that?" I raged in a deep roar that came like thunder. "Lead the ladies back to the mansion, the sage and I have some catching up to do." My voice softened a bit.

Lucia placed a hand on my shoulder to soothe me, "Why don't we head to bed now? The rest can be sorted out in the morning."

I nodded to her words in agreement and we all headed back to the mansion, my eyes glued on Anna.

The next morning was a day I anticipated of; a day where I get to see Anna again and give the right justice to the woman who loves me.

"Good morning, Danes," A sweet sing song voice woke me up from my subconscious thoughts.

A smile appeared on my face as I turned to Lucia and she planted a tender kiss on my lips.

"Rise and shine, love." She added.

"Not yet," I grunted in a sleepy tone, tossing to the other side of the bed.

"Okay then, I'll let you be." She snapped softly and tried to leave but I grasped her wrist.

"Are you really going to leave me?" I teased and pulled her to the bed, closer to my chest.

"Not really."

We got out of bed, took a warm bath together and got dressed and prepped for the day.

I walked into the hall, my subjects were present but Anna was nowhere to be seen in the hall. As Lucia took her seat beside me, I wagged my finger at Austin who was standing a few miles away from me and he closed the distance between us.

"Where's Anna? Bring her in," I whispered into his ear and he nodded in response.

He exited the hall, murmur filled the air as we waited for Anna to join us. Austin walked in a few minutes later with Anna.

Joy filled my heart as I watched her walked into the hall; it was such a relief to know that all that happened last night wasn't a dream.

She bowed to me and sat beside me.

"Bring in the traitor!" My voice reverberated in the hall with authority.

Two guards rushed out to bring the Sage, only to run back into the hall without the Sage and fell flat before me.

"Where is the Sage?" My face went red with fury as I beat my feet on the floor and rose to my feet.

All the subjects bowed.

"He was gone when we got there, he had escaped." One of the guards said, his voice dimmed by his quivering lips.

Lucia rose to her feet, rage and disappointment contoured her face as our face met.

"How dare you let him escape? Find him!" I growled. "Find him in every nook and corner of the pack and bring him back to me," I added and exited the hall.

Anna and Lucia followed after me.

I stepped into the room with Lucia following behind me and she slammed the door hard, making me turn to her.

I know I had disappointed her and had to make it up to her.

"You promised to bring me justice, is this it? Mocking me a second time in front of your subjects?" She sneered.

A soft sigh traveled through my lips and I approached her, placing her hands on her shoulders to give it a soft squeeze.

"I know I have disappointed you yet again and I'm deeply sorry for that. But I'll make it up to you, love. I'll bring that Sage to his knee before you."

"Let's hope you won't disappoint this time again," her lips twitched in disgusted, wriggled her shoulders out of my grip and walked to sit on the edge of the bed.

My head tilted slightly to the side to watch her pouted lips and I retreated from the room. I went into my study room; it was a small office, almost unnoticeable in the house.

The smell of pine scent graced my nose as I walked into the study room, I pulled a chair behind the table and sank myself on it.

A contemplative look marred my face as I was deep in thought.

The Sage couldn't have escaped on his own, he definitely got the help of an insider.

And insider who made me look like a weak Alpha in front of my Luna.

My teeth seethed as I thought about it and my eyes fell on a small opening between the shelve and the wall.

A secret tunnel.

I rose to my feet and approached it, pulled the shelve over and my eyes beamed in awe at what I saw.

A secret tunnel.
